A dark figure walked the many winding street of Gaia, top hat perched atop a head of short red hair, a Kitsune mask hanging off the back of her head and raven perched upon her shoulder. She patted the bird upon its head and fixed her silk collar as she came around another corner to a small building make of yellow brick at the corner of a strip of businesses. She pulls a ring of keys from the pocket of her black royal jacket with it’s gold trim and proceeds to flip through the many old keys upon the ring until she came across a large brass key with a heart shaped end and approached the building.
The building was small with large windows lining both sides, giving it a good view of the street and anyone who might pass by. The windows on the western face were much larger then the North side of the building stretched from floor to ceiling and the entire length of the wall, leading out onto a small wooden patio encircled by a low iron fence. Several black iron tables sat within the patio's confines, awaiting whom would sit upon their high backed iron chairs with their fancy arm rest and curled legs, wondering what stories would come their way this morning.
The woman placed the key in the lock at the front door, a red door with a large pane of stained glass fixed into the middle. A pair of two female symbols had been delicately cut out of soft rose pink glass and cut with beveled edges that caused the shadows from within the shop to jump at odd angles. She slowly opened the door and closed it behind her. Lines of tables took up the length of windows, there chairs balancing upside-down upon their surfaces. The woman crossed to the long bar at the back, taking down long legged stools with circular red leather seats as she walked along its length. She admired the shine of the rose wood counter top as she flipped up the far end of the counter and circled around behind the bar. The back of the bar was covered in a large sheet of glass that reflected the emptiness of the bar back at her. She glanced around and hoped that it would not stay empty for long. She longed for many happy faces to fill those tables, but first order of business would be to find some staff to help serve the customers that she hoped would attend her business.
She took account of everything behind the bar. The refrigerator was fully stocked with many forms of refreshments. Mugs and cups of all forms hug upon hooks before the back mirror, waiting to be filled, while saucers were stacked along long shelves. Several bags of coffee had been tucked under the counter and she checked the fountain to find it was filled with many forms of soda. Along the far end of the counter was a glass display case filled with many different sweets, pastries, cakes and more goodies then the mind could imagine. A small floor model refrigerator took up the floor against the back well, filled with different colours and flavours of ice cream. There were also several packs of cones lined up next to the fridge, from the plain to waffle cones dipped in chocolate.
With a nod of approval she knelt behind the bar to find a piece of card stock and a pen, then seated herself at one of the stools behind the bar. She placed the pen to paper and began to write in the fanciest scrawl that she could muster.
“Employment desired! Wanted: Waitresses, bartenders and more…”
She considered striking out the ‘Bartender’ part considering they did not sell any alcohol of the sort, but decided to leave it.
“Please slide your resume through the slot and I’ll get back to you. Kathryn K Williams, Kim’s Prince.”
She looked over her work and let out a sigh, her penmanship was shaking and hard to read at points, but it would have to do for the time being and she hoped it would get her message across to anyone who bothers to read it. She moved around the bar to the front door and placed the sign in the window, making sure to lock the door before crossing the room to a door in the far corner. She took a glance up at the clock to see it was nearly eleven and panicked. She needed to get to work on her novel before it was time for lunch or she would get nothing finished. Quickly she exited the café through the door and rushed up a long, steep, set of stairs. Above the store was a small apartment. The living room sat at the front of the building, a large window allowing the light of a new day to pour through. A couch sat at the far end of the room, while an entertainment unit took up the other wall, covered in an array of stuffed animals. The kitchen was as empty as the living room and she moved to the other rooms in the apartment.
Across the room she find a long hall with a door to both sides and one at the far end, which lead to the bathroom. She quietly opened the door to the left to find her wife quietly reading a book. She decided not to bother the girl and let her be for the time being. Turning around she entered the next room, which was the study. A small laptop sat upon a long table awaiting her. She sat heavily in the small swivel chair and turned on the machine. Within moments it came to life and she hunkered down, ready to get back to work once again.

My heart stops beating only for you, baby... ((I can apply for a staff position, if you'd like. ^.^))
A hesitant knock was heard at the door of the small cafe, with a rather strange-looking girl on the other side. She was some sort of blue, scaly dragon-girl, complete with tail and horns. A pair of tiny, virtually nonfunctional wings were found on her back. Her black hair was tied back in an impromptu and slightly messy ponytail, and she wore a black, slightly frilly skirt with a black top. Even her boots were black, and an eye patch covered one of her bright red eyes.
With her, she had two strange companions. The most noticeable of the two was the menacing black dragon as large as she herself. Crimson, glowing eyes made it appear even more menacing, its claws clicking against the pavement as it shifted, drawings its large wings in nervously. "Shh, it's okay, Kerryn," the girl murmurred comfortingly, and with what could have been a sigh the dragon curled up beside her, resting its head on the tail wrapped 'round itself.
Currently flying just as nervously around her head was a large falcon, seeming nearly as fearsome as the dragon. Finally, as the dragon called Kerryn settled to a temporary resting position, the large bird of prey landed rather daintily on her head, for Kerryn was indeed a female dragon. The dragon-girl still waiting at the door reached down to lightly scratch the top of the feathered head. Even the falcon had a name. He was Aki. What strange company the girl kept...For your loving...

Kat stretches from her laboured writing spree at that sound of knocking upon the door. Hurrily she heads down the stairs, through the cafe and to the front door. A small bat hanging in the corner of the cafe decended to land upon her other shoulder and she smiled at it.
"Afternoon there." She pet the bat on the head, then opened the door to see who was there. She did not seem even slightly surprised by the sight before her and bowed ever so slightly to greet the new arrival.
"Welcome to the Rose Cafe." She said with wave of her hand, gesturing inside, "Please come right inside."
Her raven cawed on her shoulder, "Welcome! Welcome!"
Quickly she took down the chairs from one of the nearby tables and offered a chair for the girl.

My heart stops beating only for you, baby... The dragon-girl smiled back at Kat as the door was finally opened. Kerryn let out a slight snort of surprise when the door opened so suddenly, sending Aki fluttering in the air to settle on the girl's shoulder, ruffling his feathers in a rather disgruntled way. "Thank you," she said quietly as she entered the small cafe behind Kat, followed closely by Kerryn. She hesitated for just an instant. "Do you mind if they come in with me?" she asked hesitantly before daring to take a seat, indicating the falcon and dragon.
"My name's Brittany, by the way," she added as her gaze took in the contents of the cafe. It looked like it had just barely been set up, perhaps not even fully ready for customers yet. Even so, it looked nice. "If you... could use an extra hand with anything around here, I'd be glad to help."
For your loving...

"All are welcome here." Kat stated, then glanced around as if in search of something, and then ran to the back of the cafe. Her voice drifted through the empty room, "I have a perch for your bird around here..." She called out from a closet in the back, "And your dragon can use a chair I guess... if that would be alright." She continued to rummage, the sound of metal bins and other unidentifiable sounds filled the room.
"Ouch!!" She cursed under her breath as she removed a tall golden bird stand and proceeded to grumble as she shoved the remaining items back in the closet and started back to her guests, "Here it is!!" She explained, perch in hand. "I'm sorry for the mess. The place was just finished the other day and I've yet to get everything arranged, in fact my wife and I just moved in upstairs and are still settling in. Which is why I need a second hand, or three. Do you have any experience at Restaurants or Cafes?" She inquired as she set the perch next to the table and sat down upon a chair, taking her hat off to wipe the sweat from her brow.

My heart stops beating only for you, baby... Kerryn snorted in what could have been derision, a small flame escaping her. She nearly jumped back away from it, and Aki scolded at her in a rather un-falcon-like way. "I think she'd rather stay here on the floor. But thanks." Brittany tilted her head a little at the continued odd noises coming from the back of the cafe.
She grinned slightly as Kat reemerged with perch in hand, and Aki gratefully settled onto the perch, appearing glad to be away from the dragon who had, in his eyes, come so close to singeing his gorgeous feathers. Shaking her head with a smile at their antics, she finally turned her attention back to Kat. "I'm afraid I don't really have any experience, but I'm sure I can learn, and I can help out with whatever I'm able and whatever your really need me for." Kerryn sighed and rested her head on Brittany's leg, where she reached down to lightly scratch the top of her head. The black dragon closed her blood-red eyes, emitting what could almost have been a purr. "And I don't mind the mess. It's understandable, and it still looks really nice in here. I'll bet it'll look even nicer once things pick up around here," she murmured, once again taking in the contents of the café.
((Hehe. I love my laptop. I can actually make "é"s and stuff really easily. And I'm trying right now to think of something for an RP. Once I get an idea, I'll make a thread, too. Try to get some variety going so more people will come post.))For your loving...

"Well..." Kat glanced around the bar, "We will need someone to take care of the front counter. I planned for this place to be for people to sit down and have a good drink or a bit of something to eat." She glanced out the window at the rather empty streets outside, "but it would seem there is no one around, and here I was thinking that there would be many other walking these street."
Kat let out a sigh of defeat, "Maybe a cafe was the wrong idea... I just thought starting something would bring people in and give them a place to gather..." She settled onto a stool near the bar, "I would need to you watch over the bar during the day and hopefully we will be able to find more staff to help out when things pick up... if they do..."

My heart stops beating only for you, baby... Brittany the dragon-girl nodded, as her eyes, too, strayed to the mostly empty streets outside. "I think things will definitely pick up after a while. You can't anything you open to be bustling with activity the first day." Kerryn opened one blood-red eye to watch the two of them, while Aki seemed to have settled comfortably onto his perch, tucking his head beneath his wing.
"I think opening a cafe was a great idea," she said encouragingly. "This place is really nice, and we just need to wait for the name to spread by word of mouth. Eventually, we'll get plenty of customers. I can do that." She nodded. "I'm sure we can find plenty more staff when things get busier."For your loving...

"I hope so." Kat replied, "Well, maybe we should clean up a bit and make it appear that we are open for business and then people might actually drop in."
With a stretch she crossed the room to the large window that lead to the porch, "I guess we should start with open up these things and getting some air in here." She stated as she unlocked the windows and began to slide them away into a hidden space in the wall which brought the nice cool area into the cafe.
"If you could turn over all the chairs, I'll start to sweep up." She requested as she ventured to the back closet to retrieve a broom and began to sweep the hard wood floors.

My heart stops beating only for you, baby... Brittany's appearance started to change, which didn't startle her in the least bit. With a snort, Kerryn got up, with Aki soon fluttering over to land on her head. The two creatures left, as the scales, horns, wings, and tail faded from the girl's appearance. Even her clothes faded and transformed. In place of her draconic appendages, she now had 7 fox tails and fox ears. She still wore a skirt, though it wasn't frilled like the last one and was instead a black denim skirt. Her fishnet stockings and boots were the same. A long, sleeved, untucked white shirt covered her torso, and she toyed with a rose in her hand idly.
With that complete, she gave a nod, finally getting up from her seat. Starting with the table at which she was seated, she quickly but carefully took all the chairs off the tables to set them neatly on the floor around the tables, instead. It took her several minutes to finish, even though the café was small. "What else needs to be done?" she asked, her hands on her hips as she looked toward the sweeping Kat.For your loving...

Seeing the "Open" sign a customer entered. She was tall, with long black hair, big blue eyes, and she had a body that was too perfect in every way, She didn't mind wearing the sort of clothing that let you drool over it either.
Surprisingly, she rather fancied herself to be fashionably dressed...
She had vanity written all over her, especially the sneering smile she wore all the time.
"OOOHOhohohohohoho!" she laughed, with a loud, energetic, and obnoxious laugh as she made her way to a table and sat down. "So, I don't remember this little place, you must be new..."

The hairs on the back of Kat's neck stand on end at the sound of the laughter. Her hands clench the broom so tightly that her knuckles turn white. Slowly she turns to see who had entered her cafe, forcing a grin upon her face.
"Welcome to the Rose Cafe." She said with as much cheer as she could muster, trying not to let out how much that kind of laughter effected her, "May I help you?"

"Do you have any Cognac?" asked the woman, seemingly oblivious to the fact she was in a cafe, not a bar.
"Or if it has to be a mixed drink, a Spanish Coffee will do."
Well, maybe she thought this was a Starbucks or something... ^_^

"I'm not sure..." Kat heads behind the counter to take a look see, "I'm not good at mixing drinks. I'll see what I can do." She checks a drink list behind the counter and goes cross-eyed at the instructions, "Ummm..." She grabs various random things from a shelf under the counter and begins mixing out of sight of the others. When she is finished she sets a cup upon the counter, inside the cup is bubbling green steaming broth.
