Is there a correct side to get pierced? I'm thinking of the whole left is right, right is wrong thing, which used to be quite prevalent.

There isn't one "right" side but side lip piercings are so LAME. Get a labret, center lip, vertical labret, medusa, monroe, or surface lip instead.

okay, disreguarding the previous comment (which I don't agree with: to each his own, dude) it's the same as getting ears pierced. At first it was "liberal vs conservative" but now it's APPARANTLY "gay vs straight".
And tradtionally you'd get the left side pierced.
It's kinda transfered to the lip, same concept. I do agree that a center LOOKS better on MOST people, but that's exactly like a monroe piercing. If you can pull it off, GO with it! (and nose RINGS too)
Just make sure you don't rip the piercing -.- damn easy to do.

I play trumpet, so that rules out center lip, vert labret, medusa. I dont like the idea of surface piercings, and monroe piercings are a little to feminine for me. I've heard bad stories about labret piercings irritating the gum line, and im not trying to get reconstructive gum grafts. Side lip is basically my only option, plus i like it most of all.

You won't be playing trumpe for at least 2 weeks. But, just get what you want. Honestly, the whole right vs. left for all piercings is just plain stupid.
