The Dark Hand

Overview

Followers of the dark god Salem, these shady individuals have penetrated even the most powerful of positions in kingdoms all over the world. All have, but one goal...to bring back they're dark god. Do not mistake they're goal for insanity though. Not all are insane within this group. Some are brilliant men/women, who in time might become your greatest ally...or even enemy. The group is led by 5 individuals...these individuals are deemed the name god hand. They're identities are yet unknown.

Origins

As Salem was trapped, so was the Dark Hand born. 5 men and women had originally formed the Dark Hand. They took time and careful effort to recruit as many man and women as possible to follow them. Their goal was to find out how to free the dark king Salem, and to kill all those who would oppose them. As the number of murders grew, so did the secrecy that kept the Dark Hand safe seem to fade away. The original group was forced to be broken, and it's leaders were killed. But the Dark Hand will never die. With their dying breath, a desperate attempt to create a new leadership was started. 5 surviving members, chosen by the original five, were to replace the old. Their names were promptly erased from history, and a new goal and game plan was established. Now, their organization, shrouded in mystery and deceit is as powerful as ever. They are so elusive, that some even refuse to believe it even exists.

Goals

The goal of the Dark Hand is not just to free Salem. It is to do it without everyone knowing until it is far too late. Their main interest is climbing the ladder of society to high ranks, where their influence can go almost unnoticed. Their current mission is to locate the four legendary blades that lock Salem away, so that they can free him.

Traits

Because the Dark Hand operates in absolute secrecy, they must blend in with the rest of the world. They cannot have anything that makes them out of the ordinary, or else people would begin to suspect that the Dark Hand is actually there. They are expected to follow certain rules, as members. For one, they are not allowed to speak about the Dark hand, except to other members, or to those who are to promptly join. If they let the word slip, all those who have heard the words must die. The god hand have an even harder time, some of them have positions of high power, and their secrecy must be upheld all the while being under constant watch by guards and the rest of society...

Alliances

The Dark Hand is aligned with many factions, and many leaderships, most of them are unaware of their union. An obvious alliance is the alliance between the Dark Hand and the Covenant. The Dark Hand is more thoughtful and careful than the Covenant, but they make an amazing team.

Locations

The Dark Hand exists everywhere. Especially when you think you are alone, you aren't. The Dark Hand is as abundant as the shadow, and as dark as the night. There is not one place that the Dark Hand cannot touch.

Gaianame:
Wizard of Winter
Name:
Birth name: Claudius Maundrell
Demon Name: Gorimondetu

Most just call him "Claudius". He gets very angry if someone of a lower rank addresses him by his Demon name.
Age:
He is 23 years old.

He is a male.
Race:
He was born a human, but later christened a Demon, and given demonic powers.
Occupation:
One of the leaders of the Dark Hand, a chosen one of Salem.
KoM:
Perhaps.
Magic:
Claudius was blessed with the ability to use Illusionary magic, and he can use it very well. He can do anything from;
Commanding creatures and humanoids,
Create imaginary places and things,
Duplicate objects and people,
Conjure up images from someone's past,
Understand the difference between reality and illusion,
Create various Phantoms,
Detect bluffs and impostors,
Create perfect disguises,
Send messages to someone's mind,
Alter shapes of objects and people,
Create creatures and people,
Command creations,
Control lesser illusions,
Dispel conjured creations,

And some even say he can alter the very fabric of the universe and the reality you stand on.
Weapon:
He has basic training in all weapons, so that he is convincing when fighting with an illusionary weapon. But he is exceptionally skilled with a lance
Background:
"Father Len?"
Len wheeled around and saw that one of his pupils had approached him to repent of his sins. "Father, I have sinned." he said, his eyes on the ground.
Len knelt down before the boy, and smiled. "There is no sin I cannot forgive, child. What have you done?"
The child looked up at Len, his red hair falling in front of his eyes. "I have plucked the eyes from a crow and fed them to my baby sister. It poisoned her, and she died. I didn't want my mommy and daddy to be mad at me... so I had to kill them too."
Len stood up slowly, a look of terror on his face. He saw the blood dripping from the boy's hands. He felt the horror grip his core, and he tried to scream, but could not. The boy's red hair fell away from his eyes, to reveal pools of black. "Now, you will die too, heretic." he said, in a dark voice that was not his own.
The boy leaped onto Len and promptly stabbed him to death.

Claudius smirked, as he stood in the doorway of the chapel, watching the poor fool of a priest die within his own mind. There was no boy. There was no knife, no blood, nothing. The idiot priest simply believed himself to death.

A young pupil witnessed the entire event, the scary man in the hood walking into the chapel, and the priest slipping away into insanity and just... dying. The boy was unafraid, and walked toward the hooded man. "What did you do to Father Len?" he asked.
Claudius knelt down as the boy approached. "Boy... Does it matter? A man with such a weak mind deserves to die."
The boy did not understand, being only six years old.
"What do I do now?" was the only thing his brain could think to ask.
Claudius smiled. "Lad... I can give you anything your heart desires. Money, power, anything. All I ask...

...Is that you worship me."

Claudius's past is a mystery to all that know him. His only goal is to raise the evil Salem and claim his reward, whether that is a quick and painless death, or a seat of power next to the throne of darkness.

Gaianame: Atsuta
Name: Virgil
Nickname: The Blood Painter
Age: Unknown; appears to be around the human age of 25-26.
Gender: Male, despite his near-feminine beauty.
Race: Demon
Occupation: General/Minister of Salem
KoM: Dark
Magic: Though predominantly a Keeper of Dark Magic, Virgil has been known to be a user of blood magic as well.
Weapon: Using a unique blood spell he has created himself, Virgil has the ability to create a longsword out of a mixture of blood and dark magic. Although the majority of blood spells require the user's blood, only a small portion of the sword is made of Virgil's own; the gallons of blood that the sword is comprised of is actually drawn from its victims, making the blade even more powerful with each enemy it slays.
Background: Though Virgil's past remains relatively unknown (known only to himself, the leaders of The Dark Hand, and Salem himself), his current state has made his name infamous throughout the land of Gi.

One of The Dark Hand's most powerful and ruthless generals, Virgil earned his rank with ease, using both his demonic strength and sadistic nature to climb his way to the top. Like most of his faction's members, the majority of Virgil's enthusiam is directed towards the cause. Unlike the others, however, Virgil's "enthusiasm" can easily be called an obsession with the dark lord; those who have expressed their distaste for his over-zealous ways never live to correct themselves.

Like most living things in his situation, he calls it love.

Despite his crazed actions and mentality, the Blood Painter is recognized and respected amongst even the Dark Hand's highest ranking officials, earning his nickname from his artistic method of murder.

Though known amongst his peers and underlings as a ruthless warrior, Virgil has one weakness -- his pupil, Coda, who he had once saved from a group of bloodlusting Covenant vampires. Unknown to even Virgil himself, his (friendly) love for Coda greatly exceeds his near-romantic love for Salem, as Coda has been the only thing in Virgil's long life that has remained a constant, not to mention the only thing that ever truly cared for the demonic General.

Kept tightly between Virgil and his pupil is a dark secret -- Coda carries the lost power of the Arc Knights [see Coda's profile sheet for more information].

[[This profile is meant for my main character's "sidekick", for lack of a better term.]]

Gaianame: Atsuta
Name: Coda
Nickname: N/A
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Race: Hedon
Occupation: Colonel/Arc Knight
KoM: As an Arc Knight, Coda can use both light and dark magics -- to an extent. His young body and mind is what prevents his power from reaching its full extent. For now, that is.
Magic: See KoM section.
Weapon: Unlike his master, Coda's natural talent lies in the art of the Zweihander, two-handed broadswords that are extremely heavy in nature. Because of his acute hemophobia (psychological fear of blood), Coda's single-edged blade is tightly wrapped in thick, cloth bandages, rendering it highly unlikely to draw blood from those who stand against it.
Background: Born into an aristocratic family, Coda lived a happy and comfortable childhood.

Until the Covenant found its way to his family, that is.

While on a mission to steal the wealth, the sadistic squad of vampires laughed as they forced Coda, who wasn't even a teenager at the time, to watch his parents and older sister perish by their hands. It was this event that sent the sharp blow to Coda's mental and emotional health, giving him both his hemophobia and emotional instability.

Only seconds before the vampires closed in on Coda himself, his soon-to-be master and teacher Virgil entered the scene, cursing the Covenant squad for their stupidity (they had, after all, killed Coda's father, a demon) before doing to them what they'd done to the young Hedon's family.

In a moment of what can only be described as pure sympathy (something that the Blood Painter was not at all known for), Virgil took the young Coda under his wing, nursing him back to physical and mental health as best as he could before training the boy and teaching him the art of combat. It was during this training that Virgil discovered something about the boy that would have completely frightened him, should he have the ability to feel such an emotion -- his pupil was home to the lost Arc Knight power.

Though Virgil was hardly knowledgeable about how to train such an ability, he tried his best to strengthen his student's rare trait, teaching him the ways of dark magic while letting Coda study light magic on his own and in secrecy. The reason behind such secrecy is simple; Virgil knows that should the higher powers in The Dark Hand learn of the boy's abilities, they would either take him away and force him to kill (Virgil is very aware of Coda's hemophobia and instability) or they would simply kill the boy for his dabbling in white magic.

With his secret power kept deeply hidden, Coda was quickly brought to the rank of Captain by Virgil. Currently, the two Dark Hand members wander the continents in order to recruit more members and slay those who hope to stop their cause.

It should be noted that, despite his master's obsession with Salem, Coda works extremely hard to draw some of Virgil's love and attention to himself, viewing his demonic master as his one, true friend.
