Another hometown band so to speak I discovered recently. I like the name so I figured I'd post about them.
October 31 formed in 1996 as a side project for King Fowley, frontman of the Virginia Death Metal band Deceased who wanted to bring back the heyday of 80's Heavy Metal. After recruiting guitarist Brian Williams, the two began work on their songwriting and music and later that year released the bands first Demo Tape. In early 1997, the band recruited Jim Hunter on Bass and Kevin Lewis on Rhythm Guitar. Lewis would quit before recording the first full length album
The Fire Awaits You. Lewis would return in time to do the rhythm guitar for 1998's
Visions Of The End.
In 2000, October 31 released
Meet Thy Maker, but the members of the band didn't like it due to problems with the final mix which made it sound too melodic instead of the ballsy metal they wanted.
In 2002, Lewis once again left the band after they finished playing Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany. Dave Castillo was added on drums and Tony Taylor and Scott Waldrop of Twisted Tower Dire were recruited to help play on the live shows and in late 2002 after many disagreements, they left the band.
2003 saw the entrance of Rhythm Guitarist Jason Tedder and the release of
Stage Fright and in 2005 they released their latest work:
