Have you ever been in or seen a collision during a run through? It doesn't matter if it was during a practice or a show(hopefully not though!!! that would suck), just go ahead and share it.
To make a long list with stories short. I've had to dodge a trombone without forfeiting technique, I've been rammed in the back by the same snare multiple times(not at a slow tempo thank you...ow), I've been elbowed, I've almost been run-over, and I accidentally shoved a flute in my section leader's ear...XD I might be missing a couple of incidents, but yeah...

We were marching backwards in a straight line, thier were like 8 of us, and a bari sax player, who's like SIX FOOT TALL, came back and stepped on me (I was last in line). I play clarinet, so i used my free hand to grab the clarinet playing in front of me, she did the same and that continues till we were all laying on the ground in a painful heap with me at the bottom. eek Not my favorite set, let me tell you. sweatdrop
I have ran into our fat director who was walking around on the field, he's like a brick wall so I am the one who falls and he walks AWAY LIKE NOTHING EVEN TOUCHED HIM! surprised
Luckly all of my mess-ups were during practice which is differnet from what I would say about our color guard.

make this short
trumpet player,
doesnt know how to marching without seeing the girly who is in front of me. [where to go]
tuesday night practice:
shes not there. food poisoning.
1st time through,
bamp.
my piccolo goes into my lip.
knocks me down. [a very big guy, ppl]
get up fast act like nothing happened.
2-5th.
samething happens.
5th time i get so pissed i take my piccolo and slam it across his head.
the rest off the night we didnt go over that spot.
and my lip was as big as a pokeball.
:/
ill post my show,
its the 1st movement.
when the trumpets weave through the wind instr.
ill try to find a new one but the only one is pretty old.

I would laugh but i did cause one once because i rolled my ankle in a ditch TWICE in like 3 secs but yea i got up in time for my next hit same as the other suzie player that fell on me but after that i laughed and I will always laugh and tell the story....you know about how everyone talks about their Freshman year....well that will be my freshman year story smile

ah, this was...freshman year, but we were marching fowards..or backwards...either one and like I think the head director said stop but it didn't get around to us so We kept going and alot of us got hit reaaaally hard in the mouth with our mouthpeices. :/

okay.. flute player.. marching in a french horn spot... (gaws i hate the band director for this one) as you can tell by the comment before.. im that unfortunate floutist.. *sigh* well anyways i was backwards marching and i ran into a bariton player( it hurt my head and he busted his lip.... heh) I feel soo bad for Jace.. poor boy... oh well he still had to march i got knocked out.. I HAD A FLIPPEN BUMP ON THE BACK OF MY HEAD!!!! it was bleeding.. luckily no stiches..heheh...and they say flute players are weak. I am actually considered psycotic... and bipolar.. but oh well... THEY WONT CUT MY BEAUTIFUL GOLDEN LOCKS!!!

so in our show we do, what we call the dance of death. [ about 35ish kids together, 2step interval, and from the stands it looks like we roll into a ball.]
well we were dont a run through and the girl [ashlee]right next to me decided to be slow or something and then the girl [molly]in front of her [backwards marching] didnt see that so molly stepped on ashlees foot and ashlee fell all the way to the ground and smacked her head on the way down. [also screamed and started crying]
she was lucky cause we stopped at that set because if we didnt she would have been stepped on and most likely killed.
:/
im bad though, i laughed my a** off.

This really tall kid in my section triped over his own **** clumsy feet and fell on me.
Also, I managed to trip over a bass drum, somersault backwards 3 times, landing on my back (damage to my new instrument, though not major crying crying )

I have never had a collison but a freind of mine did her flute got stuck in his sidtation and we lost points another time part of flute fell off during a performance and a trombone stepped on he ran into an other flute

Okay, this is my freshman year, first year of marching.
Every year we go to pretty much 4 competitions.
We host the last one at our school. We had to do it in the gym,
due to heavy rain. Our stupid director, had us practice in the gym.
We had to accommodate for the small space... The drumline (of which I am a part of) can't really make our intervals too small, due to the fact that we'd run into each other because we're moving very quickly, yet we have to take 48 steps and not run into the gym wall. So we start moving, it's the 3rd set of the 2nd movement (Earth Wind and Fire - After the Love Has Gone). We're marching to the right and behind us, the whole band is making a whirling wavy line, and the flutes are on the end and they have to walk forward...and still leave room for the colorguard behind them...
And some stupid flute player keeps walking forward and runs into the quads and falls over. Then Jessica cuts off (DM) and Mr.Bailey gets on the Megaphone: "Flutes, yield to the percussion please. They need room. You see that your flute doesn't take up as much space as the quads, so take smaller steps, PLEASE."
So we do it again, and she runs into ME this time. With my bass drum. And I just keep marching and let her lie there like an idiot. :/
yeah, it was aggravating, yet I was still laughing. So hard. <3
Definitely going to be my freshman year story. o:
