There was no gay sex in our sex ed course. Then again, it was a 'kosher' sex class, and was taught by a woman who labeled our v****a, urethra, and a**s as holes for B, blood/baby, P, pee, and D, doody, respectively. So I wouldn't really expect much of her anyway. All I remember from the course was that and the abstinence bit. It was also a four part course in eighth grade. And as far as I know, my high school does nothing about sex ed. Which can explain why I'm so ignorant.

Only that would explain this.

It's just as bad in the states. Abstinance only doesn't teach squat. Newsflash- people have sex, better to teach them how to avoid STDs and prengancy than to leave them in the dark.

We are taught (in my system in Solano County, CA) for about six weeks once in 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. The word gay (or anything along those lines) didn't come within of mile of the classroom then. My school(s) tried really hard to force abstinence, but acknowledged the fact that people were going to have sex, so they taught /some/ safe sex. But not for gays. Considering that about 11% of any given population is gay, it is a huge hole in the education system. I'm in my senior year of high school and I've been feeling more peer pressure to have sex, but as of yet, I am still not ready. Part of that is I want to be safe and I am not sure that I and my partner would be. There really isn't anywhere really to go for the information around here. I think it is more important than ever to teach safe gay sex practices in California with the new marriage equality. I think that teens will need the information and not just rumors like "lesbians can't get STDs." Ignorance is no reason to get some horrible disease.
If only lesbianism provided a genetic immunity to any and all STDs, lol!
