Quote:
Masked Man Fallacy
definition: The substitution of identical designators in a true statement can lead to a false one. "I know what/who p is, I don't know who/what q is, therefore p is not q".
Example: "I know who my friend, Carl, is. I don't know who stole my pencil, therefore Carl is not the one who stole my pen."
Side-notes: Never use this, especially in debates that have to do with the finding of the identity of a separate entity.
Quote:
Appeal to probability
definition: Because the possibility of something is evident, it makes that something inevitable to meet, this is a fallacy though.
Example: "There are many hackers that use the internet. Therefore, if you use the internet without a firewall, it is inevitable that you will be hacked sooner or later."
Side-notes: Don't commit this fallacy; it is absolutely ridiculous to state that if possibly p, therefore p will happen, as other opposing possibilities exist and so two contradictory happenings cannot occur at the same time.
