Below is a brief explanation of what happened to the Characters after the End of KH II, note that this explains why some characters are returning in this KH RP.
The Characters
Sora:
Sora, Kairi and Riku received a letter from the King, it explained a new threat that had risen, The Heart's Order was planning on eliminating Sora and his friends. The group decided that they would head off to Traverse Town and then decide what they would do after when they regrouped there. Sora went first to make sure the coast was clear, the group decided that it was best to travel separately.
Kairi:
Kairi was the last one to leave to go to Traverse Town to regroup with the others. She is constantly worrying about Sora and Riku. She also worries about this new threat that calls themselves the Heart's Order. But as always she has a smile on her face and tries to be cheerful, despite the grim 'circumstances.'
Riku:
Riku was the second of the Trio to leave, he often wonders about how dangerous the Heart's Order can really be. The Heart's Order are after them, but other than the fact that the Order wants to eliminate them, Riku has no clue as to why they want the group removed from 'the Chess board'
Roxas and Namine:
A living thing is made of three components: A heart, a Soul, and a Body.
The soul creates and stores the memories, and ultimately, these memories are what makes someone them self. It is our memories that define us as a person and tell us from experience what to do and how to act.
The heart creates the emotions. Depending on the soul, emotions might be different in the same situation. One who has been through hardship is less likely to feel pain when a loved one dies then one who has grown up in a warm, loving environment.
The Body hosts the heart and Soul, binding everything together into a living thing.
Roxas and Namine are nobodies, composed of only the body and soul. It is cruel, but during the time they lived, they lived without a heart, without emotions and only part of a soul, a soul that contained no prior memories except those of basic motor skills. Both Roxas and Namine developed their own memories, led their own lives, unaffected by the memories their 'somebodies' had. Their personalities and experiences are completely different then who they once where.
When Roxas and Namine fused back with Sora and Kairi, their different experiences, different views on life conflicts. How Sora reacts in a situation may not be what Roxas would do. The same between Kairi and Namine.
Roxas and Namine had developed too much of their own lives, too many memories that makes up who they are, to a point where they are no longer the same person as their 'Somebodies'
With the two personalities conflicting in both Sora and Kairi, it's only a matter of time before they split into two beings again.
Ansem the Wise:
Ansem was barely able to escape from the devastating explosion that supposedly ended his existence. For the past little while he has been gathering information on the Heart's Order, but everyone still assumes that he is dead, he has been using this to his advantage. He found out that he was one of the people on the Order's 'Hit list' and also that Sora and his friends were targets as well. Not even the King knows that Ansem is still alive, he has kept himself hidden from all, but should it be found out that he is still alive there would be no doubt that the Order would be after him.
Donald:
Donald returned to Disney Castle with Goofy, the two where planning on staying for awhile and taking a break from their normal duties until the King Found out about the Heart's Order. Donald has been busy with guarding the Throne Room from Heartless and Nobody attacks.
Goofy:
Goofy returned to Disney Castle with Donald, but their plans for a small vacation were eliminated when more and more Heartless and Nobodies began to arrive on their world. Donald is in charge of guarding the Throne Room, while Goofy is in charge of guarding the Library from the Heartless and Nobody attacks. They are hoping to see Sora again, but their wish may come true sooner than they think.
King Mickey:
The King has locked himself inside the Library to do some "Research" on the Heart's Order. But none of his books have anything on the Hidden Organization. He fears that he may have to leave the Castle to go in search of the answers. But of course he has other people working on finding those answers, people like Merlin and Felix Swift.
Merlin:
The Great Merlin, Keeran's former mentor and the Kings researcher has been keeping his eyes and ears open. He is one of the few that knows of Keeran being indoctrinated into the Order. He lives in Radiant Gardens trying to find out as much as he can. He may know a thing or two about the world called the Heart's Core.
