Okay Okay so he only had 15seconds or so in the movie but hey! Kuronue has got a whole army of fans and fan girls out there that just love to write fan fiction . But with such a short span of time we don't know much about his persona now do we? All we really know is that he's loyal to Kurama he loves his pendant so much it killed him. He was a thief and he showed up a spiffy new way to wear a hat. So what would he be like in real life?
Well I'm not in love with the guy so I'm not going to sugar coat anything. The makai is (from what Yu Yu has shown us* I s a very harsh and dangerous place therefore since Kuronue doesn't attack from behind he must be 'Honorable' in makai standards yet he could be (probably is) Positively evil in our standards . I've read every single web site and fan fiction and I've come a crossed a few different personalities that I don't know which it could be
Only Togashi-sama would know eh?
1. The nice guy that cracks jokes.
2.) The smart*** bad boy (which I find absolutely hilarious*)
3.)The bakabakashii that didn't even know how to light a candle.
4.) Hyper whack-o
5.) The a lot like Youko but more light hearted bat-boy.
6.)The very violent and evil one that likes to kill things (0_o)
7.)The constantly getting drunk and reproducing pervert.
theres a lot more then what I would want to put down but theres more questions then answers. Like the Scythes he has they resemble Kasarigamas do they not? A kasarigama was used by ninjas and LAW ENFORCEMENT( ) in Asia and other such places and resembles his choice of weapons. So was Kuronue an X-ninja? O_o it certainly would have helped out his thieving abilities!) For instance they both have the same type of blade on the end and are thrown just like the shape shifter does in the movie If you don't know what one looks like, Kohaku, from Inuyasha uses one)
Also a very good point that Houou-san brought up . How do we even know he Uses scythes if it was the shape shifter wielding them? We didn't see any weapons on him in the movie? Again more questions then answers. Why the skirt? My friend Nii-san claims its to 'release his feminine desires (I just sorta laughed at that)
And why does he dress like that? Youkos clothes are nice and not ripped yet he dresses like (what my dad said while I made my cosplay out fit ) a ragamuffin. Personal style? Or just his trademark? then there comes the almighty hat which I think is very very cool and spiffy!
A lot of people say he looks like a scar crow Well I beg to differ! I think it looks cool and that (besides the long ponytail) Would probably be a trademark so that guards could say who they saw and then more Infamous for them! However a good point I found in JinsLittleWhirlwinds fan fiction it doesn't matter how many crimes are committed its how many people KNOW you've committed because they SAW you.
Again for more on this type of thing see the fan fiction its highly amusing to say the least. Also we must wonder how old and how tall the bat is? Obviously first we must figure out how tall Youko Kurama is in rumor he's 7ft but in one episode he's shorter then Kuwabara There fore he would only
be around 5'9 making the bat only around 5'7 but that doesn't seem right now does it? Iie now we must also wonder how Kuronue met the quote 'dashing' unquote thief in the first place? Perhaps they ran into each other or perhaps he ended up running into 'Robin hood' and his band of
Merry men ?(see the episodes) however it happened, think how long it would have taken to developed trust and friendship with the fox I'm not saying their in love (In the Philippines version they are) but Youko Kurama was a cold heart blood thirsty thief. That would have taken a while. Also where did the pendant come from an why is it so important? Heirloom? Magic item? Keepsake? Gift? Who knows all on personal opinion. will add more later.) ~KomoriRei

gonk That whole thing is hard on the eyes, could you please break it up?
My take on Kuronue's personality: I see him as a lighthearted, carefree kind of guy. Someone who enjoys thieving, goofing off, a good party and playing pranks. Someone who is laidback. Sort of the lighter half of the duo.
I'd say he enjoys his free time and would hate to be given orders. Someone who mocks authority and the high-class way of life. I think even if he became rich and lived in a castle, he'd still be the same, and would probably hate the confines of the high class.
I see him as polite, yet flirty around women, also, but not the type of guy who's a pervert.
I don't really see him as a big drinker, though I don't think he'd mind some sake now and then.
About his pendant: I see it as a family heirloom, handed down to the firstborn, and possesses more power than is known-an item of great power.

Personally I cannot stand the portrayal of Kuronue as an idiot. In my mind there could be no way that Kuronue would have been an idiot, because Kurama would not have someone like that for a partner. I think Kuronue has a personality and skill similar to Youko's. I do however think he might be a little more mellow than Kurama... Just because I can see Kuronue as rather laid back.
Currently I am writing a fanfic called "How it all Began." Now this fanfic is my interpritation of how Youko and Kuronue became partners. In this fanfic elevated Kuronue's thievery skills above that of Youko's. In fact in this fic he is actually steeling from Youko and sees Youko as almost inferior as a thief. There have been too many times where I see writers portray Kuronue as a damsel in distress for Youko to save... No, I'm sorry, that was Yomi. I like to think Kuronue knew better than that.

Well like I said, I will copy and paste certain chapters... I know I will put the first one up at least! That's where I really bring out Kuronue's personality. I've actually made him really cocky and he's got a bigger ego than Youko's. sweatdrop Although I will back up that cockiness with uber awesome thievery skills! I really do think Kuronue kicked butt at that.
Of course some people don't because he went back for the pendant, and they saw that as "stupid." However, he wouldn't have done that with out a darn good reason. I know that for a fact. He clearly stated that he needed it. To me that pendant must have much more than sentimental value to it.

He may have been almost as good. I think Kuronue is a laid-back, fun-loving kind of guy, but he also knows when to get serious. ^-^ Ah, but here's the thing with my fanfic, Youko CAN'T stand it. He HATES it. He gives Kuronue the challenge of stealing something and having the option of becoming his partner. Kuronue is cocky and insists Youko would only slow him down, and reffuses the offer. Youko gets pissed off and tells Kuronue to leave, stating that if he ever sees Kuronue again he'll kill him. Here's what I do though... in the fic there's going to be an item they both want... on each of their seperate missions they run into one another trying to steal this item. It kind of becomes a theif off if you will... however it proves too difficult for the both of them and they soon find they have to work together in order to survive. Together they steakl the item and realize how well each of their individual skills compliment each other, and agree to become partners after all. Of course after this Kuronue becomes a little less cocky and he mellows out a little more. Although he never really becomes playful, I just can't for the life of me see Kuronue as playful... perhaps it's because I have seen too many fanfics in which fans turn him into a clone of Duo from Gundam Wing. And while I love Duo... gah, I just can't see Kuronue like that. There might be a bit of a sense of humor, but I see it as an almost dark sense of humor. In my eyes he's not the oposite of Youko, he's complimentary to Youko.
