Talonclaw lay beside Darkstar's body and licked his cold head. "We'll miss you. You were a great leader." he whispered coarsly.
Blackpelt lay beside her former leader. She grieved for him. He was her mentor.
Stripedpaw, Shadepaw and Patchpaw stood off to the side waiting for their turn to say goodbye to their leader.

Leafstream padded into the camp.
"Leafstream's back!" Yowled Firekit. He ran over to Leafstream, nearly toppling her over when he ran into her. "Sorry." He said, staggering to his feet.
"It's fine. At least we know you'll be a strong warrior." She said, giving him a comforting lick on the ear. She walked over to her den.

Rabidpaw joined is clanmates. His whiskers twitched as he tried to conceal his sadness at the loss of their leader. His paws dragged across the ground and he sat down not far from where the former leader lay. His tail layed on the ground behind him. He didn't care if someone accidentally trodded on it or tripped over it. He had looked up to Darkstar and wanted to be just like him, strong and wise. Now who would he look up to? His father was dead, killed in a big territorial war against another clan. He stared at the ground.

Rabidpaw lifted his head and looked behind him to see who had spoken. He lifted his tail from the ground but didn't say anything. He turned back to look at the fallen warrior and then to the speaker again, blinking tears away.

Rabidpaw nodded gratefully to Whitewish. He welcomed her comfort though he usually didn't get along with other cats. "Thankyou, Whitewish." He mewed quietly.

Rabidpaw nodded again. "May I go get some sleep?" He asked. Despite his grief he was terribly tired. He looked up at Whitewish hopefully. Being in the apprentice's den would get him away from all of the other cats.

Rabidpaw jumped up at her purr and ran to the apprentice's den. He found the familar scent of his moss nest comforting and curled up into a ball in the center of the soft plant. It warmed him almost immediately. He closed his eyes and eased his breathing, curling his tail over his muzzle. With one last sigh of grief he drifted off to sleep. Resting his tired muscles. He realized that he would have to train hard to be as good a warrior as his now dead leader had been. He shivered as he dreamed. A sliver of pale white moon showed in the great expanse of the black sky. Not one star seemed to twinkle, until he looked elsewhere. He found that he was standing in the center of ShadowClan's territory and as he still stared up at the sky, a single star seemed to show itself. Rabidpaw was immediately comforted by the warm light radiating off of it. He stretched one paw upward, trying to touch it but soon realized that it was too far away. He nodded his head with acceptance. "I'll be with you again someday." He promised, his ears twitching. "You'll be proud of me too." He purred afterwards, in another promise.
