There are two sets of rules; one for the guild and one set by the school. Here is only the guild rules. While the in-game rules are only there to provide entertainment (as some are meant to be broken), the penalty for breaking my rules is much more severe. I won't hesitate to ban you if something goes wrong.
Gameplay / How It Works
For each location, there exists a subforum. The main forum will be used for neutral territories and OOC. Progression of time will be marked by an announcement in the main forum, which will be titled with the time of day/date and the body of which will contain weather reports. That space will also contain news in-game. Only when you see that thread update can your posts respond to it. So, if at one point it is nighttime, you must wait for the thread to mark dawn in order for your posts to be written in terms of dawn.
Now, of course, since we're all running on different time zones, that thread will be updated less frequently than once a day. Therefore, gameplay will run in seasons rather than months; after 15 or so in-game days will come the next season. That's just how their world works.
Activity
I don't like it when I'm the only one posting; I might as well be writing a (best-selling) novel. I also don't like people who are always down my back about posting since this is supposed to be fun. That said, you can go only a month without posting- without telling me- before your character is seized. I'll find a way to kill them off. We're a creative bunch.
However, if you tell me in advance I'll find a way to save them. I understand if life gets in the way and you're planning to come back: your character will be safe and I'll make sure nothing happens to them until you get back.
Posting also has good side effects: the more you post, the higher the likelihood of getting an in-game bonus.
Literacy
No, I'm not requesting that you write up five paragraphs every time you post (though you are certainly welcome to do so). However, I'd like you to put some real effort into your characters; they shouldn't just be wandering around doing nothing. Heck, do something against the rules! I don't mind! It's even encouraged, as long as you don't do something questionable (Steal? Sure. Blow up a town? Not so much.). I don't mind font or color, as long as it's legible. Use 11+ and, if colored lightly, bold, since I don't want people to ruin their eyes.
Godmod, Powerplay, Other Such Nonsense
Hopefully you know what these are; basically, your character should be realistic and you cannot control anyone else's character. Don't kill anyone. Fighting is okay, just know that nobody is the most powerful/strongest/cleverest. It's all up to your imagination.
Posting
If I say 'don't post here', don't post there.
Courtesy
Please be civilized. I will accept no bashing, flaming, or insults of any sort.
Characters
This is an alternate universe; I will accept any race, but don't be stupid. None of your characters are in any way related to the characters of a series. All of your characters have a hometown. Some of them can be shared.
The World
I'm very open to brainstorming- there's even a thread for it! Use it!- but ultimately the decision is mine. Don't make up something about my universe unless I know about it; otherwise this will turn into a big mess.
Donations
If you wish to make any donations to keep this roleplay rolling, please send them to the mule, 'The Town'. Don't donate anything straight to the guild because it will be useless. However, the mule is used to supply all the roleplay's needs- like prizes for a contest- though I have the right to take any ink, tokens, tickets, fish, and junk from it. Mostly, it just irks me that they take up space.
The Town is also an entity that rules over the roleplay. She is entirely neutral; all she does is explain events and give you information. Sometimes she'll pop up and give you something.
Questions?
I'm really not an ogre. If you have a question, suggestion, or comment, you may simply post it in the main forum (in the OOC or a more specific thread). I don't mind anything you throw at me.
Punishments
There are situations where a bannable offense may be mitigated, though don't expect it. You can be banned for breaking any ToS of Gaia or by really pissing me off (so don't try).
Other than that, the only thing that will really cause a problem is activity. I won't ban you for not being around, but your character could go (because people are expecting everyone to be like a 'sim', and even if they don't respond they're still there).
