lol the album was actually intended to tell the story of syd barret (the original singer/guitarist) and his breakdown due to a case of schizophrenia that was severely agitated by all of the hallucinogenic drugs he was doing at the time. wish you were here was a concept album about roger waters' longing to have his old friend back and how he couldn't because syd had taken it all too far and screwed up his mind.
however, many different levels of meanings can be found in the lyrics of both of those albums. i will let you find your own meanings in them, and not taint your thoughts by telling mine |

yeah i know about syd, a guy i used to know had a copy of an video of him tripping on mushrooms, i never wanted to watch it though, i think syd had made it as some kind of performance art, so judging from how pink floyd was WITH him i expect it was at least entertaining on some level, i expected that i would find it disturbing or obnoxious. |
