I am a freshman at high school. There's a boy in my lunch period, that I've liked since the first week of school. I've only recently spoke to him and asked for his name (it's Brandon). Most of the time I just sneak glances at him. He's a junior and a varsity football player and that intimidates me a lot. I want to get to know him better, but I don't know what to do at all. My friends are encouraging me, but... What do I do?

Well, I would start small talk with him like ask how his day was or something like that and as you get used to talking to him, ask him a little about himself. That's what I would do. If it works, I'm glad to have helped....if it doesn't, well, we'll just have to think of something else now won't we? wink

Otaku Slayer Thomas Well maybe you could sneak in something like " You were great at the game" but youll hafta go to the game though, maybe, iunno :/. And maybe direct the conversation from there ? We just recently had the final game of the season. Our team lost badly too... I can't tell him that since I arrived at the game halfway through and I had to work at one of the stands, so I have no idea whether he played or not... Thanks for the advice though!! I'll try and think of something though!

My friend said a little too much after he answered, and that made things a bit awkward. She left me standing there in front of him, and I ended up running away to the rest of my friends 'cause I didn't know where to take it from there.

Well, just try to talk to him whenever you work up the nerve. Get him to talk about himself; that's usually pretty easy. And, if you say or do something you think is wierd or you just feel awkward, just smile nervously (shouldn't be hard), mumble "Excuse me" or something and dash away to your friends (make sure they're nearby, but not next to you). Oh! But that can be a bad idea if his friends are there. They're likely to ride him about it and make him feel embarassed instead of curious.
