A breeze blew through the quiet aftermath of what had occured and had been ended. The three humanoid-like figures stood with the larger figures of three wyrms standing around them. The night sky had remained it's dark coloring, though from the feel of the atmosphere one could tell that dawn was approaching...
The Half lycan smiled at his response, her grey ears perking up. "Gladly." She took his hand in hers, happy for the moment.
The dark wyrmess shifted slightly, irritated. Sybrant's silver eyes gleamed in the last bit of moonlight, her mind whirling. Was Senka really thinking about helping the vampire? True, the kid seemed nice enough... But that didn't mean she'd let her guard down for quite a while.

Haku and Aran's sentiments remained hidden, though both were very uninterested in the goings on about them. As Haku watched the proceedings, Aran's eye began to wander, landing on the girl they had just aided. Before he could get any ideas about her appearance in mind, Haku prodded at Aran with a whisker. We'd better get going. Don't want to get more mixed up in the affairs of shadow wyrms.
Aran wanted to speak to Senka a bit more, but he had to agree. Being around a Leech made him uncomfortable enough, and Haku's slight racism wasn't helping. "We'd best be off. Don't want to delay you any longer. If you need something from us, Haku's very fast. We can be there in no time."
Now we're stuck. Haku growled mentally, his eyes giving an icy glare at De'carn. Of all the shadows, with the exception of Thyra's little "sister", whome he liked, De'carn had to be the one he didn't trust the most. Way to go, fishbrains.
De'carn met Haku's gaze, keeping himself from smirking smugly. He touched his mind to Sybrant's. I'll still be around to make sure the vampire doesn't do something stupid. I don't like him one bit. He allowed himself a brief look of dislike at Brytan, which the boy must have missed, for he didn't flee like a rabbit a moment after.
Brytan grabbed her hand and leapt up, light as a feather. Versel and Riten were really gone? He had to look about, smiling without showing off his fangs. The nerves in his body were humming already, red eyes narrowing. "The sun's gonna come up soon. I need to find someplace safe." He mumbled,as if reciting an old lesson.

Her gaze was drawn away from Brytan as she heard Aran spoke, turning to look at the man who had spoken. Sadness crossed over her features, for she hadn't really gotten to know her rescuers all that well yet. Though happiness soon replaced the sadness, and she smiled lightly. "Well, thank you. Does that mean we may get to see you in the future?" Her gaze flickered from Aran to Haku, then back again.
Sybrant glanced at De'carn from the corner of her eye. Thank you. At least I know I can count on one wyrm. She commented back, shaking her head slightly. The shadow wyrmess looked back at her bonded and the elf, snorting softly. "We should go."
Hearing the news from Brytan, Senka turned back to the elf. Her hand came up to her throat, unclasping the weighted cloak from her body, holding the thick material out to him. "Here--it may not be much, but it may help until we find some shelter."

"With hope." Aran said before Haku could intervene. The hybrid poked the merman hard in the side, a look of disapproval crossing his features. He glared back, crossing his arms. For a moment, the two crashed their wills against one another, and Haku backed down. Whatever it took, just to get them away. Aran grabbed Haku's mane and pulled himself on the large wyrm's back, looking down at Senka.
One moment, Aran. Haku said, ignoring the unspoken message to get out. He looked at De'carn, and let loose a deep growl. He sent in De'carn direction a very clear image of pain and suffering. Tread lightly.
De'carn watched as the white wyrm suddenly streaked off, moving at a pace far faster than the shadow wyrm could have guessed possible. The message had gotten through clearly, but he wasn't sure what to make of it. You are welcome, Lady Sybrant. He replied, distracted. At her command, he tried to think of a reason to pursue the others, but couldn't come up with a valid idea.
"There may be some caves nearby." He suggested lamely as Haku disappeared. "We should find something without too much difficulty. Which way, m'ladies?"
Brytan took Senka's cloak with a grateful thanks, draping it over his shoulders. He shrank into the folds, trying to make it so that no sunlight would touch his skin. He felt his heart start to pound, red eyes gleaming in what little light managed to writhe its way into his dark safety. He said nothing more, watching and waiting until it was time.

Sybrant remained silent, watching the hybrid wyrm, his bond, and De'carn at the moment, while still keeping tab on her own bond and the vampire boy. Her silver eyes watched Haku take off, and she somehow found herself admiring his speed. How she wished that oneday she could be like that... Wait, what? She mentally shook her head, what was she thinking?
The halfling smiled and nodded to Aran, watching as he pulled himself onto the white wyrm and sped off. Until another day, then.. She thought to herself, before turning back to the small traveling group. "Best bet would be to head towards into the woods. If we find a stream, we may be able to find caves and shelter." She built off of De'carn's suggestion, as her mind started to wander. If she changed, she'd be able to find a water source no problem. But... She could practically feel displeasure coming off of Sybrant at the thought of more woods. But right now the halfling was merely thinking of anything close that could provide suitable shelter. "Unless... Anyone else can think of anything else?"

At Senka's suggestion, De'carn thought hard about his immediate future. True, he had told Sybrant that he would stay around and help her and Senka for a while more. However, when was the last time he had kept his word simply for the sanctity of vows? The more he thought on it, though, he decided it was better to play it safe. Sybrant wouldn't harm him, that he was sure of, but having someone to fall back on had it's distinct advantages. Plus, his last backup plan had disappeared.
"The woods would be fine. A hollowed out tree stump where we could store Brytan for the day would work marvelously, and I do believe finding one would be easier done that way." He stepped towards the darker shades in the dark, folding his useless wings against his back. "I doubt we'll be attacked by anything in the woods. Most animals are scared enough of us that they keep away," he pointed out, trying his best to look concerned.
Brytan nodded beneath the cloak, shivering. The blue around the horizon had started fading into lighter shades. They didn't have long now. Panic beat heavily in his heart, and he shrank even deeper from the outside. "We need to get going," he whispered carefully. The forest sounded like a great idea. They trees would make room for him. True, trees could be stubborn and set it their ways, but kind saplings usually pulled some strings to help out those in need.
He didn't know why he didn't inform them of his magical abilities. It just seemed... silly. However, if he was spending the entire day trapped, he was going to do it in comfort and safety, with full hopes. How could he go wrong? If he got out of the sun, he'd be safe for an entire night again. No Riten. No Versel. He smiled pleasantly, brushing hair out of his face with a quickness usually not observed in people. No matter what happened, tonight was great.

Sybrant nodded, deciding to add her two cents in now. "We don't have much time now. Finding a hollow tree would be much easier and faster then finding a cave. Especially, and no offnse to you De'carn, but the both of us were not meant for traveling swiftly in foilage." She glanced at the boy in question, listening to whispered statement. True, they needed to get going.
Senka listened intently, practically hopping from foot to foot to get going. They were wasting precious time, damnit! "Come on, Bry," she said softly, resting a hand on his arm. "By the time they officially decide what we're going to do, we can find a place for you to avoid the sun." She offered him a smile, despite the darkness. The halfling turned towards the forest, and began to walk towards the foilage maze.

Nodding a tad at the true statement of his fellow wyrm, De'carn set his sights for the trees up ahead. As Senka lead, he walked even with her. The night weighed heavily on him, and he wouldn't mind a bit of rest. The activities of this evening had indeed tired him out, not to mention his toying with the game. As they neared the trees, he felt insecure, unhappy.
Hiding Senka and the kidnappers from the eyes of the others had cost him most of his powers without delving into his lifeforce. The darkness which would have once whispered all its secrets, dissolved like mists before him, remained mysterious, withholding. Only a few times before had he dealt with such a terrible feeling, and she was not around to make this worse. Yet, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a flash that made him want to jolt.
He paused for only a moment, and glanced as if checking his position, but he was really clearing paranoia. He couldn't let himself appear unsure, just in case. This was all part of the play, he convinced himself, just part of the way.
Would they expect him to lead? The thought made his heart thump a bit uptempo. If they did, he couldn't falter, couldn't let his own shadows scare him. Not in the least, no matter the nightmares that awaited in his imagination.
Brytan felt relief course through him as they began to walk, though he itched to run. Yet, he knew if he gave into that urge, that another one was soon to follow. The taste filled his mouth as he remembered Senka's bleeding from before, remembered the thrill of it.
Gods above, he looked up at her from beneath the cloak. He desired that thrill back, deep inside him, it still burned, coursing madly through his veins, trying to get control. A rational voice, the Brytan of Aeralithian blood, warned him that he would be torn apart, warded him away. A sudden picture leapt to mind, a cross burning itself in his mind's eye.
It hurt worse than hell, and caused him to take in a sharp hiss of breath. Yet, he kept it with him, embracing this new self defense, the elven blood overpowering the infliction for the moment. Only for the moment. When they neared the trees, he noticed the blood splattered one pause, but he kept walking. In the shadows, they could rest a little easier. In the shadows waited safety.

The lupine halfling swallowed, as her eyes flickered to and fro. Now, where would you possibly find a hollowed tree? They needed some kind of sign, something to point them in the right direction... Out of the corner of her eye, she saw De'carn faulter for a moment. Though, she decided to let it go and focus her mental energies where they needed to be.
Sybrant followed right behind both her bonded and the vampiric elf, glaring mildly at the back of the latter's cloaked head. She felt Senka's trust in the boy through their bond, aswell as many other emotions. Forgiveness, worry, hope, as well as... Kinship? That was odd. For the moment, she'd accept him as part of their small group. Though, if he did anything to harm Senka...
She wouldn't hesitate to rip him to shreds.
The shadow physically shook her head, looking over at De'carn as he momentarily stopped. Feeling the need to speak, she gentley reached out to his mind. De'carn...? Is something not right?

De'carn shook his head, glancing back at Sybrant. Everything's fine. Just checking. He went on, disappearing into a deep darkness. Feeling blind was a new sensation, and completely unwelcome. When he thought he glanced something, he wanted to turn his head, check, but that wasn't in the order.
Use an excuse, he told himself, say you spent all your energy looking for Senka. But it wasn't in him. Sybrant hadn't. Why ever would he search more vehemently than the half-therian's bonded? Thinking glumly, he kept walking, stepping carefully through.
Brytan's senses jumped when they stepped into the loving embrace of the shadows, each little thorn becoming clearer out of the moonlight. The plants themselves whispered, shifted, though it sounded like just the wind. They longed to see him, be near him. One arm let go of the cloak, hanging limp while branched reached out to brush. They would be alarmed, he had not doubt. They'd hear, and they'd be afraid, likely.
He let his eyes wander from the path before him, his mind casting out among the things that lived, feeling them. Eventually his eyes half closed, body moving but his mind leaping across, feeling the dark spots where other living things rested. The trees greeted him, and it was the sound of one greeting which snapped him back into his body.
Something had a hold of him. It was slightly wet, rough to the touch, wrapping around his foreleg. It almost felt like a tongue, and it made him halt in his tracks. "W... Wait a second." He whispered, hoping the others heared, De'carn tried to move, but it stayed. No, it gripped tighter. The wyrm hissed inaudibly, knowing one way to fix the problem.
He was going to rip it. Brytan could feel the confusion in the young plant that it was not welcomed in the group of the elf. Brytan warded it away, told it to go on or it was going to be hurt. Strongly urging the plant back, he felt it reluctantly loosen, the root delving back into the earth.
What fresh hell was this?

The shadow wyrmess had accepted his response, going back to looking for a suitable hid-away. She hoped to find the place as soon as possible, for when they did she could hopefully rest up... She had gone through a lot since she had woken up hours ago, and rest sounded so alluring right now.
Only when De'carn spoke did she look back. Alarms went off in her head as she saw the thing come from the ground, wings fanning out as she jumped back slightly. What in hell's name?! Sybrant settled back onto fours again, seeing the thing retract into the ground. Though, she still looked on the edge. Scares were one thing she didn't need right now.
The halfling stood stunned, her feet refusing to move. Her golden eyes lay frozen where the root had retracted, as she felt a wave of cold fear run down through her spine. Finally, she looked over at Brytan, questions spinning in her mind. "... Brytan...?"

Brytan smiled meekly at Senka. "Follow me." He whispered, not wanting to give her a chance to ask question. The trees knew. One in particular was very welcoming, so long as there was no fire. If there was no fire, then the tree would be glad to help. The entire forest, even, so long as there was no a flicker of flame. Impulsively, he grabbed her hand, and led her. The plants pulled themselves out from underfoot, those that could, and remained so, waiting for Brytan's friends.
"I-I'm so-sorry." He stammered, afraid that Sybrant might get a wrong idea. Like he was bad. Brytan wasn't bad, just... trying to help as best he could.
De'carn heard the apology, and turned back to see both therian and vampire missing. Lady Sybrant, where did they go?! He asked, unaware that he was revealing his blindness, unthinking of the potential for notice. When he caught it, De'carn mentally groaned, but said nothing. If the vampire ruined this for him, he would pay. That, he swore.

Nodding silently, Senka kept up a pace with Brytan as she followed after. Occasionally, she glanced around, seeing the plants move out of the way for them. Though, this time she didn't feel fear. She felt bewildered and awed at the sight of them moving.
Sybrant whirled around after hearing both an apology and De'carn's statement, instantly letting her anger flare out. Damnit! She seethed, determining just how she was going to tear the vampire apart.
But through the anger, a voice broke through the turmoil of her mind. Sybrant... Calm down... I'm not harmed. Instantly, she was calmer as the voice of her bonded reverberated through her mind. Senka? What...? But the connection had been broken. Hearing her Bonded's voice made her look at where they had disappeared, realising the 'demon' plants had moved aside, and it seemed they had left a path. Even sharp-witted De'carn should've seen those... She looked back at said wyrm, before looking back at the path. Come on, De'carn. She started down the path, trying to keep her gaze focused.

The sad thought that he was going to be ripped apart by Senka's bonded circulated in his mind, but he tried not to think about it. The tree was close, welcoming. She, well, plants didn't really have genders, but this one mothered all the plants around her, so she had a feminine air about her, was very happy. It had been ages since a human of any kind had been around these partsm looking for help.
He stopped at her base, looking up, smiling, though not letting go of Senka's hand. She was an old tree, one of the oldest in the forest. Her roots were large, gnarled, stiff with immobility. Or, so he thought. He heard the wyrms approaching, and suddenly a rumbling in the earth, deep, old. She strained from her the very tip of her tap root up, and the large roots began to shift, slowly, leviathans each.
Following after Sybrant was easy enough, but the sound of plants moving behind him sent chills up his spine. The boy's doing, this was all the boy's doing. Furious, he stormed after her, following by the slight glow of her red markings in the darkness.
It was then that the earth began to shake slightly, the tremors making him more afraid. "Come on," he yelled at Sybrant, running up behind her in a gait that was hard to maintain for a shadow wyrm, trying to urge her on. Mainly, he didn't want to be caught up with the plants, didn't want to be dragged into the dark.

Senka glanced up at the large tree as they stopped, amazed by it's movements. She was amazed by the roots, and she unconsciencely gave Brytan's hand a soft squeeze. She was sure as long as he was with her, she'd be okay. But that didn't help that a little fear edged into her mind.
The tremors nearly made the shadow wyrmess stop in her tracks if it weren't for De'carn's voice pushing her to move foreward. She strained to quicken her pace, which was actually more difficult then she thought. If anything happened to Senka... She didn't know what she'd do.
