The sky toned eyes turned with the movement of the escaping zebras, the white pupil, slitted from the light, watching the prey, living to graze another day. It seemed that this day wasn't going so well, Hera thought. This nor the previous ones. Her head had often drifted into daydreams, many times during the fine, concentrated process of hunting. A luxury a lone lioness couldn't really afford. But the banished young princess just couldn't avoid the meandering of her thoughts, it was stronger than her. And so, for the fourth time in the day, Hera went unsuccessful in getting her meal. Worse, the colt's mother had managed to land a blow on her right hind leg, and though it wasn't broken, two or three days would go by before she could even think about chasing food around again...
'What's wrong with me? It's nothing new, I can hunt well on my own... So why was I so careless?' she thought, confused with her own lax actions, licking the forming swelling on her leg. It took not much time for her mind to drift away, even with the pain, to something else, or, more specifically, someone. How long had it been since she'd last seen the mysterious fallen angel, the intriguing King of Broken Dreams, Incorrin? Hera wished to be able to meet him again, a sigh interrupting her absent minded licking task. 'How foolish of me... there must be more on his mind, certainly... and fate, fate won't so kind to me, will it?' A soft breeze caressed the white form, a comforting note on the midst of her pain.

Incorrin rumbled in a pleased manner, wrestling with the antelope one last time. The fragile older male gave a final kick, then succumed to the power in his jaws. Death. Swift and sure, and final, had come to the prey beast. Withdrawing, Incorrin licked his muzzle clean and turned his seemingly blind eyes across the land. The herd was gone, long gone, having bid farewell to their fellow as he gave his life for their's. And so, for the moment, there was silence. Lifting his head to drink the wind, Incorrin perked at the familiar scent of a lioness. It was a rare thing, for him to recognize a scent, as he was far too new to this land to have many friends... None at all really... Just a lovely acquaintence in the form of a white lioness named Hera, and the return of a beloved brother. Talcorin. The Dream King... A black lion who had come from the sky and forged his own Pride with his only love, a lioness he had left the ranks of Angels for. Incorrin had not yet met his sister-in-law, but he had heard enough of Illitashia to look forward to the experience. Tilting his head, he noted the scent of blood was noticably absent from Hera's smell.. Surely she was out hunting? Perhaps... Perhaps not a successful hunt then... Without much else to do, the King of Broken Dreams tossed his kill over his back and stood, carrying it toward the lioness with a call. "Hera?" He rumbled. "It is Incorrin... Dine with me?"

The timing couldn't have been more appropriate, so much Hera thought herself hallucinating. But no, there he was, flesh and bones. "Lord Incorrin..." It overjoyed her, and yet embarassment crept over her. She, who already felt rather frustrated with herself after such an unsuccessful row of hunts, was taken by a sense of utter incompetence by his invitation. It wasn't a matter of company, but of forcing herself upon it due to her own failure, something that, according to her own self discipline, was unacceptable. "I would very much like to, but I have yet to hunt for myself, my Lord, which I was about to..." Not. The sheer steps she gave to turn herself to the ways where the herd had headed off to, the limp had been visible. No matter whether the voice is unwavering; the body does not lie.

Incorrin gave her a gentle smile. She was injured, and he could see it... A pity he could not heal... At least, not enough to enable her to run and hunt like she would need to in order to bring down prey. But how to say this where it would not offend? "Milady... I am not hungry enough to eat it all myself... And I would welcome your company.. Come rest and dine with me... And I would look at your leg, if you'd allow it..." He took another step forward, nosing her cheek gently. "Please?"

"Oh, I couldn't impose upon you, Lord Incorrin... I-" Hera said, bowing her head to him. It would be a dream to partake his company... But her role was to aid others, not weigh them down, she couldn't- "..." Her train of thought was interrupted by his small caress, her eyes widening as she jerked her head up. Her pure white fur concealed the growing flush that covered her cheeks, mimicking the embarassment she felt. "... I-I'd... love too..." Hera gave in, her voice barely a whisper.

Incorrin gave her a kind, joyous smile, pleased beyond words that she had finally consented to rest... Being on that leg would not prove its condition, and he could tell that she was hungry... This would work out well for them both, she would rest, and he could bask in her company. "Thank you, My Lady Hera..." He crooned, nuzzling her cheek. "You have no idea how happy you have made me..."

Hera smilled shyly, her words almost lost on her throat. "My lord, there's no need to be overjoyed... I dare say it is mine the happiness, for you to wish for my company..." A soft, low purr followed her words, and, slowly, Hera nuzzled his cheek back. Yes, it was most definitely a dream...

Incorrin laughed. Did she not know who she spoke to? This poor thing, at any moment he half expected a Warrior Angel -a force to protect innocent females- to drop out of the sky and try and explain to Hera who she spoke to. "My dear, I am the King of Broken Dreams... If anything, you should fear my company..."

It did little effect on her, or none at all. "Why? From what I've seen and heard in our meetings, you are wise and kind. I have no reason to fear you nor do I want to. In fact, with my chaotic mother, I'm quite surprised it isn't the other way 'round. What harm could possibly come from staying by your side? Even if there is something, it doesn't really matter to me." He probably had a ton and a half of secrets, but so did a ton and a half out there and the world still ticked. Everyone has a past, true. But it doesn't necessarily shape someone's path to the future...

Incorrin merely shrugged. There were no words he could use to tell her what his former occupation was, what he had seen and lived... What he had been forced to create or destroy... There was no way to make a mortal understand the ways of Angels... "I thank you for your good faith in me." He offered softly. "And as far as your mother goes, I doubt neither she nor any of her relations would give me reason to fear..." He quirked his lips in a smile. "After all, I cannot really die..."

"Death? Death would mean mother Ate's puppet broke. She's usually not happy with that..." Hera mused, sighing. Not something she wanted to recall at the moment though so she shifted gear. "Onto a less morbid subject... How is your family? Haven't seen you out and about lately, my lord, I thought perhaps you were staying with them? Then again, it might just be lack of luck..."

Family? He didn't really have any family here.. Except Talcorin... And Ancorath, but Ancorath was still being punished... So he'd net yet been banished... Not yet... The family here was, his family.. Well... Not truly his, but Talcorin's... Nevertheless, the Fallen Angel smiled. "Talcorin is well.. I have been spending much time with him, acting as advisor of sorts... And he has been teaching me about being upon the lands... For in truth, he was down here more often than I ever was..." He winked. "But then, I did not break the laws for a Lady.. Perhaps I should have..." He shrugged. No matter. "Indeed he and his Queen are well.. And they have beautiful children... Which I have been meeting slowly... We do wander on occassion, I imagine it was bad luck we never stumbled across you..."

Hera giggled sheepishly, more and more embarassed with each flattering remark Incorrin snuck in between. She'd been rather slow into realizing he was indeed flirting with her. A ray of hope? She was going to make a comment, but suddenly a quite noticeable rumbling came for her protesting stomach, pleading for a less talk, eat food policy, though it drove Hera into another sort of embarassment. "Oh dear..." she cringed.

Incorrin tilted his head at her, one brow arching in silent question. For a time it seemed like they'd been having a pleasant sort of banter running between them, but now she looked a little distracted.. A little, worried? "Somewhere you need to be, Lady Hera?"

"N-no, it's not it, my Lord... I had almost forgotten my previous task, but my body has just remembered me I need to eat something... though I didn't want to bother you with it..." Hera huffed to herself, shaking her head lightly as she glanced back to her injured leg, oblivious to him for a moment. "Should have been more careful..." the white lioness muttered to herself.
