I'm having a difficulty understanding how to perform rituals from my Satanic Bible. I find it difficult only because I haven't read thoroughly, or maybe I'm just a baffling idiot who can't take simple directions. Either way, I just need everything explained in simpler terms so my puny brain can withstand the directions needed to perform a ritual.

You may even have to start with the positions I'm so lost. gonk

The first thing stated before performing a ritual as per The Satanic Bible is thorough understanding. Go back and reread again, taking the time to do whatever it takes to understand, whether underlining, highlighting, copying down, whatever. If then, you still do not comprehend, come back.

What portions of the rituals don't you understand? It might be a little easier to explain to you if you can tell us that.

Every portion of The Satanic Bible is written rather clearly. The small bits involving props and readings are merely an outline if you plan on doing a ritual alone. If you're going to be doing it with other people, then it's best to stick as closely to TSB as possible, since all practitioners will have found that the aesthetic works for them in some way, shape, or form.

At the core, what you need to pay attention to is the rituals intent, then approach it in the way most suitable for you. Emotion is a strong ingredient to ritual. Props and an altar are certainly a must if you plan the environment actually emulating an intellectual decompression chamber--a place where you can objectively enter in to a subjective mindset.

Bleh, I'm rambling.

No, no Pirate. In essence, you're correct. But, I think he has projected this ritualistic practice as something requiring steps and certain requisites; when, in fact, it isn't like that. Rituals are, like you said, engaged in order to relieve any form of trouble or dismay that you might have which may be interfering with your daily activities, or because of shear desire.

Rituals, by no means necessary, require you to follow any sort of procedure or set of guidelines. Though, TSB does state certain aspects of the ritual that should be recognized from a satanic perspective. Now, if this is what you're having troubles with, then that's a different story. You'd need to check out TSB in order to see the satanically inspired provisions that have been established. If you do not own a copy of TSB, it might be necessary to post an excerpt taken directly from TSB in order for you to see.

Indeed, it all depends on how you want to devise or construct your aesthetic sanction in order for it to properly fit your personal liking. Let your instincts and desires be your guide.

This isn't Wicca, after all... blaugh

Alright, well, I've read through TSB again, and I mean the WHOLE THING. Except for a small portion becasue, well, my mom had torn my bible in shreds, and I had found it in the trash, so I just took it out with the other remaining portions and kept it all in one piece. Sort of. Anyways, I found out today that one of the average sized portions in the Book of Fire is missing, so yeah, I'm feeling pretty bad for being such a clutz.

Anyways, I've also read through this guild and people keep talking about trances and meditation and stuff, so yeah, I've got another question...

'How do we get into a trance?'

Honestly. I mean, I have no friggin idea how to get into a trance, what do I do, breathing exercises like in Yoga or something? Or do I just concentrate real hard on going into a false state of sleep?

I've found the best way of getting into a trance is by not trying to get into a trance. Simply put, staring at a candle's flame in a dark room can usually do it for me. Breathing exercises help as well as just concentrating on one thing or nothing at all. It would help if you use something such as music or etc. to enter your trance. Some people need silence, I use music - ranging from heavy metal to acoustic guitar.
