"MOM! Stop yanking on it!" One very ticked off looking Anbu glared back at Kyoko, obviously not happy. Sure, it had its ball -a rare thing with Kyoko being on the outing as well- and they were going out at a later hour than normal...but the dancer had attached a LEASH to it! A child leash! In anbu's opinion the things were crueler than needed. "Well, if you'd have a little courtesy for your 7 months pregnant mother, I wouldn't need it, now would I?" Kyoko had learned to glare back just as harshly, and seemed a little more intimidating with her hair more dark blond than green now. "Now...let me catch up...I hate being slow." The latter part was more mumbled to herself than said to anyone else. Anbu impatiently waited for Kyoko to make her way next to it, and then continued.
"So...why are we up this way?" Kyoko rolled her eyes. "I told you already. There's a dance school in this neighborhood. I want to get info on it." "Why are we out here late?" "Because I have school, and they're open late, due to the night-owls of their students." "Oh. I still think this is stupid..." FWAP! "HEY! Why'd you use the damned fan?!"

Ka'hmesh was currently on his way to work, with Rhiloss in tow. After the first three sitters he had hired had ended up leaving halfway through the night (two in tears, one so angry she had had to leave or she would have hit the child), Ka had decided there was nothing else for it but to take the young Scent to work with him and hope nothing hugely dangerous happened. It was a hassle... but at least Rhiloss would obey him (more or less).
"Where are we going again?" Rhiloss asked, sounding bored and lagging behind his guardian.
"I told you ... to where I work. It's not that much farther," Ka replied, with a soft sigh. He was infinitely glad that he had left earlier than usual. After all, he had to explain why the child was with him too...
Glancing up, he saw a familiar figure up ahead and lifted his free hand to wave. "Kyoko!" he called out, noticing that there was a child with her as well.

Kyoko blinked and looked away from Anbu towards the voice that called her. It sounded familiar...And once she saw the man waving at her, she knew why. "KA!!!!!!!!" Anbu winced, covering an ear. "Jeez Mom!" Kyoko ignored Anbu's protests and made her way to Ka'hmesh, a bright grin on her face and Anbu finding itself dragged along.
"Ka! I'm so glad to see you! I completely spaced and forgot to get your contact info at the cafe..." Anbu glared at its mother, then the other adult, and then noticed the other child. Its eyes softened a bit, raising an eyebrow.
"You here against your will as well, pale one?"

Ka jumped slightly at the sheer volume of the return call, but he was smiling. "Hi again," he said, quieter. "I had a feeling we might see each other again at some point, anyway. At the cafe if nothing else..."
Rhiloss blinked slowly at Anbu, looking the other up and down. "I guess you could say that," he replied calmly. Then lips curved into a wicked-looking smile and he yanked his hand away from Ka's grip, running both hands roughly down the other child's chest. "What are you anyway? A girl or a boy?" he asked, with a somewhat cruel twist to the words.
Ka turned at that, eyes widening. "Rhiloss!" he snapped, pulling the child back toward him. "I ... sorry about him," he murmured to Kyoko and the other child. Then he shot a glare at Rhiloss, who simply gazed back at him calmly, having gone cold again.

Anbu's lips quirked into a mysterious smile, ignoring the rough treatment the other had given it. "Ah...that, pale one, is something of a mystery. You see..." The trickster gave a bow. "A magician never gives up their secrets, and that is one of them." Kyoko rolled her eyes.
"Don't mind it...it won't even let me in on the secret." She shook her head. "Anyways! Ka, this is my...psuedo-kid, Anbu. Anbu, this is Ka'hmesh." Anbu quickly gave Ka another once-over, then nodded.
"He seems okay." It then turned its attention back to the other child, intrigued.

Ka looked slightly unsure about Anbu's opinion of him, but decided to just ... let it go. Too many strange things had been happening lately and he really didn't need to add another one to the list of things to worry about. "Pseudo-kid?" he asked, raising a brow slightly. Probably ... another Scent-child. Somehow, they seemed to be popping up all over the place lately.
"I'm Rhiloss," his own child chose that very moment to butt in, ignoring the two adults totally, gaze focused on Anbu.

Kyoko smiled a bit nervously. "It...just kinda showed up one day after the whole big Masquerade...and...It just kinda became part of my family. You'd never believe how it was born though! I didn't see it myself...but one of my more reliable friends did."
Anbu gave a bow, making certain to not break eye contact with the other child. "Very nice to meet you, Rhiloss."

Ka laughed softly at that, and nodded. "Let me guess ... it came out of an oil burner?" he asked, raising brows. Apparently this town was just full of people who had one of these kids.
"Nice? Ha!" Rhiloss barked at that, for no apparent reason, still staring.

Kyoko blinked. "Uhm...yeah...How did you know?" Her eyes wandered to Rhiloss, then back to Ka. "Was...he born like that too?"
Anbu was taken aback for a moment, then regained its composure. "Excuse me? I was attempting to be polite."

Ka felt rather like slapping a hand over his face at Rhiloss's antics, not entirely sure how to make the child behave himself. Already he was finding out that anything he said would be obeyed... for about five minutes. And then Rhiloss would find something else to do that didn't exactly contradict whatever he had said, but that also wasn't what he was supposed to be doing either. Except for when the Scent child just went into what Ka had privately started calling "frozen" mode - in which he would just stand perfectly still and stare, not saying or doing anything. Ka didn't know what was worse.
"Yes... he was. Though I don't really understand how I got lucky enough to have such a thing happen... "
"I know," Rhiloss replied simply, grinning - but there was an almost wicked sort of tinge to the look - as if he was planning nasty things somewhere in the back of his mind.

Kyoko laughed a bit. "Ah...I know that feeling all too well. To be honest, the whole reason I took Anbu in was to keep it out of trouble." Her laugh turned a little nervous. "Instead, I wound up with a whole lot of trouble."
Anbu was a little wary of Rhiloss now...He was certainly interesting, with his unexpected outbursts...But there was something a little disturbing about him..."Right...Obviously, manners are lost on you."

Ka shook head slightly at that, eyeing the two children for a moment. Rhiloss might or might not be planning something ... Ka really had no idea. There were times the boy just looked like that simply because he could, his guardian suspected. He was certainly ... not what Ka might have expected. "I understand what you mean ... " he murmured.
"I have plenty of manners... when it suits me," came the reply to that, the grin widening juuust a bit.

Kyoko couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah...but it has its...sweeter moments." She leaned over so only Ka could hear what she was saying. "Would never admit to it though. It's very funny watching it deny things."
Anbu blinked. Alright...this guy now had its approval. "That...is a perfect answer." The Scent's face now sported a dark grin. "You cause quite a bit of chaos, don't you?"

Ka smiled at that and nodded in response to both sets of words, glancing back toward the children. It seemed that Rhiloss had managed to do something ... well. If not exactly "right", at least maybe less offensive?
"You think so..?" Rhiloss asked at that, actually seeming just a bit taken aback for a moment. He did cause some chaos but usually people didn't, well. Like it.

Kyoko's eyes turned to the children as well, a little confused....though not entirely surprised. Anbu had a habit of...throwing people off balance. She sighed. At least it wasn't turning violent, for that she was glad.
Anbu nodded, grin not fading. "Of course! Chaos can be such a lovely thing...especially if you can get away with it." Anbu leaned closer, so its next words could be heard by only the other Scent. "And I get away with it far more often than my mother knows about." It retreated again, grin now just a dark smile.
