Rengo shifted and a worried look came over his face. He'd forgotten how large his homelands were and was looking for Nafsi. He desperately wanted to share his feelings with her! And the longer it was being held off the more nervous he felt about it. His tail flicked and he sighed, coming toward the hilly area which held many of the Kusini dens. Perhaps she'd wandered this way and started chatting with some of his pride-mates? She wasn't hard to spot, being green and a leopard, after all.

Ah, but she wasn't here either. He watched from a far as many cubs tumbled together and a few lionesses watched them carefully. He spotted a few of his younger siblings and smiled lightly before turning and heading for the watering holes.

He hadn't checked there yet! It was already past midday and he'd need to find her before night fell.

Shari'nyunyu sat by the waterhole contemplating the mysteries of its depths. She had a lot on her mind that she figured she needed to sort out least her mind collapse under all the stress. Her feelings and her devotions conflicted and while she supported one, the former kept swamping her with renewed thoughts or feelings that threw her scheme of things off kilter. And it was horrible.

She looked up and noticed an adolescent approaching the waterhole. He hadn't noticed her yet so she took the time to channel her thoughts in relation to him. Adolescents were known for being hormonal and to be a mix of emotions but he seemed unworried and unplagued like she was. So what did they have that she didn't that kept her from feeling calm and secure.

He blinked as he noticed the female, she was unfamiliar to him and he couldn't place her colors to being related to him. Maybe distantly, but he didn't think she was a relative. He had been gone from the Kusini lands for a long time, perhaps she was a rogue or something.

He had no idea she was an original member, to be quite honest. Most lions thought that Ari had been the last of this place and now it was thinly connected to the true Kusini blood line, of course there was also his Great Uncle (or something like that) Adamu and his two sisters, which were rumored to be full Kusini blood. He never talked about this though, not really.

"Hello there." He said, making his voice pleasant and respectful.

She blinked herself out of her daze, realizing he had noticed her now. She had never seen him either but of course, his pink immediately identified to just who he belonged to and she couldn't help but smile. He belonged to a huge family just including his aunts and uncles and siblings. Not that there was anything wrong with the vast expanse of his relatives. Shari'nyunyu was one of the few lions in the Kusini who did not belong to a familiar bloodline. As it was, she had no blood ties to anyone in the pride. All her family members had passed away. To belong to a family would be something she could only wish for.

Smiling, she returned his greeting. "Greetings." She gave a certain indicated pause for him to insert his name so defined by her tone of voice and facial expression. She didn't mean to sound demanding or anything but she felt it her job and a goal of her's to know everyone's names.

Greetings? Ah he hadn't heart someone greet him like that in a while. It made him a little nervous, he saw a greeting like that as very proper. Maybe he was just letting crap get to him lately.

"I'm Mirengo'Kauta." He supplied at the pause, because she seemed to want his name and he had no problem giving it to her. He bowed his head again before shifting toward the water and taking a small drink.

He glanced back to her and grin. "But hardly anyone calls me that, not even my mother. Rengo is fine, if you don't mind." It made him uneasy when his full name was used because his mum only used it in extreme cases of being pissed at him.

She bobbed her head in a slight bow out of politeness as he gave her his name and hid her little smile. "Nice to meet you, Rengo. I am Shari'nyunyu which is also a painfully long name. Please call me Nyu." They were the only two at the waterhole but she thought it impolite to ask him what he was doing at the waterhole because that was like misunderstanding his intentions or saying he wasn't allowed to, both of which were false.

"You wouldn't mind to help distract me would you? If you're busy, that is fine. Unless maybe, of course, if I could help you?" she really need a distraction and keep her mind-boggling but seemingly-simple problems from taking over her day.

Ah what a long name! He chuckled softly if only because the ending half was very close to his mother's, Nyunya. "A pleasure." He replied in kind, slowly sitting. His gaze flicked around when she asked that, looking a little surprised.

"Distract you?" He asked dumbly, wondering what she needed distracting from. "Er... I'm not... exactly busy." He really didn't like brushing others off, especially after giving his name. "I am sort of looking for a friend of mine." He said, his voice growing rather shy and his facial expression becoming slightly embarrassed.

"But I can spare a little time."

She felt kind of embarrassed for asking such a thing from him after just meeting him. "I mean, I really hope you don't mind. You see, I just have something that's bothering me that I really don't want to think about but I can't seem to find a way to distract myself." There, she said it. Hopefully he wouldn't think her crazy for saying it or anything.

"Oh whose your friend ...if you don't mind me prying?" She wanted to see if maybe she knew them. That could be useful in terms of being focused on something else. This friend obviously meant something ...or he was embarrassed to have that person as a friend, she guessed from his facial expression.

He blinked and nodded slowly. Ah, he knew what she was talking about. He smiled softly and kept nodding for a moment. "No, that's alright, I don't mind chatting." He didn't either, he really enjoyed meeting others.

"Uh... Her name is Nafsi." He said and looked even more embarrassed. He wasn't sure what had gotten into him, feeling so nervous about mentioning her to anyone, as if they could read his mind or something and know he was about to go confess to her.

Oh god. What if she said no? Or or... something... like he was too young... or laughed? That would be the most mortifying moment in his entire life! He swallowed hard and stared at the water, now trying to get his own mind off of his thoughts.

She smiled at his embarrassment, finding it incredibly cute. He had said little but she felt it safe to use her age afford her this phrase, "She sounds like she means a lot to you." Either that or maybe he was afraid she would indeed recognize that name and think bad of his choice in friends. Sadly, she didn't. So many people she needed to know to keep her from feeling clueless like this. Dratted feelings. Drat, drat, drat.

He seemed to calm down a little and a dreamy smile flitted onto his face as he thought about it a little. He nodded once. "Yeah, she means the world to me.." He said softly, not sure if he wanted to actually say that out loud or not.

Ah well, done was done.

"Er.." His tail flicked. "So you live here, in the Kusini lands? I don't think I've ever seen you. Or heard of you either... where do you come from Nyu?" His head tilted.

He must have come back after she had, she pondered. "Yes, I live here. I came back not too long ago. Haven't been here since I was a child. I'm... well, I'm the new Jumbe." She didn't want to say it like she was stuck up and she hoped he didn't think her that way. But maybe now he'd understand why she had been so proper. She as an elder felt like a sort of representative for the well-being of the pride and thus the need to be proper. "How long have you been gone?" she asked curiously.

He stared at her blankly for a moment. What was a 'jumbe'? He had to think long and hard about things his father had told him that linked to the Kusini'Mwezi history, he figured it had something to do with that, before his mind went to the four elders. Something about months and festivals and he was suddenly feeling horribly guilty that he didn't know so much...

"Ah, ah... so you are.." He finally stated, grinning softly. "Uhm. I've been gone a while. Since a little after I hit juvenile age until just yesterday." What a fun return that had been... not. Silly mother. No! Insane mother! And embarrassing mother!

So she had been one of the original members? He watched her carefully. "Did you know Mng'Ariza?" He asked quietly, wondering if she'd known his great grandmother. She had been very young when she'd passed away... so maybe yes and maybe no.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 01, 2007 8:10 pm

"Oh ok," she said. "Well you haven't missed too much of me, I must say. I have probably only been around for a month now, I want to say." Mng'Ariza? She ran the name over and over again in her head through her childhood. "No, I'm afraid I didn't know her when I was little. But the pride was very large back then as it is becoming now so it was very easy for a cub not to know another. I'm sorry though." She knew about Ari and what she meant to the pride but she had come after the Queen and High elder's death and never got to met her. And she knew that Nyunya's kids were Ari's great-grandchildren. It was scary to think that she was just as old as Ari and the great lady, if she were alive, was about to have great-great grandchildren.

He nodded. "A month... right around when my brother and father got back." Or so Njozi had said. Or had it been two months? Really he needed to get his mind together!

So she hadn't know Ari. Maybe Ari had been older, he had no clue. He fell silent though, not knowing what else to say to the Jumbe.
