I like to meditate when I can't get to sleep at night. I relax and turn on my tranquility music (with forest and animal sounds) and lie down on my bed. Then, I begin to concentrate on my wereside.
I see a forest through the eyes of a puma. As in the real world, the trees in this forest have changed for Autumn. The temperature is cool, but not cold, just how I like it. I can hear the birds and rustling of squirrels in the trees, and I can smell the fresh morning air.
When I tried this meditation for the first time, I began to explore the forest. Then, I came to a road. Yes, a man-made road for cars. I looked around and found that the area I was in was surrounded by roads. I saw the cars drive by quickly, and grew nervous. I felt trapped. Finally, I ran across the road. I think I almost was hit by a car.
After I crossed, the world was peaceful again. The other side, I found, was much prettier. I walked on and found that the terrain constantly went up and down. It was hard to find flat land.
I came to a stream and sat down by it, taking in the sights and smells. I saw a rabbit nearby, and, realizing that I was hungry, killed it. It tasted delicious.
Then, I became tired in the real world. In the other world, I found a sort of small cave nearby and crawled in. There, my wereside fell asleep, and I returned to the real world and went to bed.
The next time, which was last night, I returned to the cave. I crawled out and looked around. Everything was pretty much the same, but I was hungry. I looked around and saw a sleeping animal that looked like some kind of raccoon or badger. I killed it and ate half of it, saving the rest for later.
I decided to continue the journey I had started before. I walked up a bit, and then, to my left, saw something amazing. I was looking out at a mountain range. I realized that I was on a mountain of about average hight. I didn't know why I hadn't realized it before.
I walked to the top of the mountain and looked down again. It was a beautiful sight, especially since it was Autumn. The colors were amazing. Unfortunately, I was tired again in the real world and I didn't want to leave my music on while I slept. I went back to the little den I had found and ended the meditation.
To the therianthropes and Otherkin: Do you have a home for your spirit like I do? I call mine my "Werehome". Please describe your spirit's home if you have one, and also how you get there. I look forward to reading your posts.

Wow, I had no idea that you were Melpomene. Small world. ^^
Anyhow, I've been considering using a meditative technique similar to that. Haven't tried it yet, though.

Heheh. sweatdrop Now I just have to figure out who you are... Wolf/deer phenotype, right? I'm no good with names. I really think you should try the meditation, though. It's actually very fun. It's nice to get away from the "human world" for a while.

I have somewhat of a "werehome", when in deep meditation I like to go there. It starts as a desert and I am running and gradually it turns to the forest with me gradually turning into my wolf side. Running through the woods dodging trees, and picking up winged friends (ravens) along my way. It's quite wonderful.

I have something similar I prefer to call my dreaming reality. It sometimes becomes so real bits of it are with me when I wake up but quickly disperse when something like a loud noise or change in light pull my attention from them. Nothing is more awkward then having an conversation in a dream and then waking up to the person sitting at the foot of your bed chiding you for trying to avoid the subject. My lamp fell over and the lightbulb exploded I was scrambling for it so fast. I basically avoid deep trances now since I end up back there sometimes and never get the rest I need when I'm there. sweatdrop

My mind doesn't slow dowj enough save for whenI meditate. As when I meditate my mind is mot of the time calm, open, and dark at the same time. meaning i tyr not to interruotthe only time Ihave to have my mind calmwith any images. as the darkness and trangquility is perfect for me.

In dreams where I rested with my spirit guide, there was a tree on the Serengeti we would watch the other animas from as we spoke of the behaviors of prey animals...and how to best exploid their own behaviors to catch them.
I once wrote a progressive house tune after one, inspired by this place and the meetings which occur there...it was named Serengeti Sunset Groove.

Has anyone ever met other animals in their soulhome? Not like a spirit guide, but like another animal that you could communicate with, in a way. I remember when I met another cougar. He was male, and a year or two younger than my wereside. Didn't like him at first, but he turned out to be an okay guy. We didn't really "talk", but we communicated with animal body language. You know, like flattened ears means angry, and all that. I remember romping around in the snow with that cougar. It was fun while it lasted, but he left. I haven't actually meditated for a while. I should try again. I've just been too busy. sweatdrop

I have what might be considered ADD, so my mind wanders a lot. sweatdrop

I have to post a update on this subject. As a few days ago I posted that I did not have such a place as this. But as I have been workign some issues out with myself. As far as meditating and feeding more regularly and things of that nature... Anyway...
I have this place in my meditations and of very recently in my dreams. Which is very peculiar because I really dont dream at all. But this place is an ancient, long forgotten building that belonged to my ancestors a very very very long time ago and me in that life as well. But it houses some very old documents and other bits of informtation about me and what I trully am... its very interesting indeed. It is very peaceful and calming to me. So I will be working with it to see what I can learn. As I have many unanswered questions. so myabe with my meditations and dreasm as I probe into the documents and texts that are there. I will learn something and grow even further... only time will tell...
