Yes, I'm aware that "dollist" isn't in the dictionary...xD But I'm sure you can gather what I mean by it.
This guy was originally created for a D&D campaign, but I found out another player was creating a character with a similar idea -- his was a tinkerer who made robots to do things for him, and we didn't really have room for two players to spend all their time building things. xd
So mine was pulled, and I decided to reserve him for story use instead.
Some of the "logic" in this came from time spent on a BJD forum -- theories on giving dolls souls and things. I know some of you are probably going, "...and Rozen Maiden?"...xD; It might be a similar idea, but the end product won't be anything alike -- the only parallels being that there's a sculptor, and living dolls. The dolls have nowhere near the sentience of the dolls in Rozen Maiden, either. XD
On to the profile! xD
Name: Remiel "Remi" Dracart
Age: 27
DoB: 12/17
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 176lbs
Physical Description:
Remi is of pretty average height, and walks with bad posture -- a bit slouched forward, like he's used to leaning over to work on things with small details -- he's going to have awful back problems when he gets older. whee
He generally looks a bit out of it and distracted, sometimes even puzzled. His brown hair adds to the look, being about shoulder-length with a slight unkempt wave to it, as if he makes a habit of forgetting to brush it, or even try to keep it out of his eyes.
His clothes add to the somewhat eccentric look, as well -- as if he just went town to town picking up individual garments that appealed to him, and assembled them into a barely cohesive outfit (which is more than likely exactly what happened XD). Several of his clothes have clay residue on them in the form of white, chalky marks.
In spite of dressing and caring for himself in a manner befitting the village idiot, there's still something about him (I'd blame the still-youthful face and naiveity) that seems friendly and charming.
Children in particular seem to like him, mostly because of the fact that he's almost ALWAYS carrying a doll in his arms. He's incredibly uncomfortable with the fact, being not quite sure how to relate to such small humans. xd
He's constantly armed with a seriously oversized backpack, which probably only adds to his posture issues. He's almost always shifting and trying to bounce/roll/slip it back onto his shoulder properly, and it's always trying to go crashing to the ground. This bag contains pretty much all of his possessions -- a small pillow and blanket, whatever money he has at the time, his current rations (right on top!), as well as several sculpting implements, spare blocks of clay, and dolls/parts of dolls en masse.
Personality:
Not totally fleshed out yet (I haven't had much chance to work with him! xD), but he's a rather quiet person, uncomfortable in the company of other people. He's at his best and most talkative when he's sculpting, and that's really the only time anyone will have a shot at anything more than smalltalk with him. Otherwise, he converses in extremely awkward monosyllabic replies, often trying to get away from the discussion as soon as possible.
Sculpting is pretty much *the* thing he loves to do, and sculpting his dolls in particular. That'd be how he spent all his time, if not for the need to make sure he has decent food and shelter day to day. He's a nomadic individual, not really feeling any special attachment to anything he can't take with him in his oversized backpack.
It's not that he doesn't like people, he just doesn't mind keeping to himself.
On the other hand, the dolls he sculpts are like his children, and he has a lot. XD There are several in his backpack, along with countless "spare parts". He pretty much always carries one favorite in his arms while he travels.
Through some personal magic even he himself doesn't quite understand (or maybe it's his lovingness towards the dolls enchanting them), at times he's able to animate his fully-articulated creations. They can do simple things -- perform basic, lightweight household tasks, fetch things, defend him, etc.
In spite of his attachment, he's not particularly concerned about them becoming damaged. If a doll were to break while trying to fend off a wild animal, for example, he'd just collect the pieces and repair the doll...quite possibly scolding it for its hasty behaviour like a grumpy parent. whee
(There will be more, but I'm still working)
