Muse has been around for almost 10 years and in that period of time, almost everything's changed: music [compare Microcuts to SMBH], on-stage activities [destroying gear/overwhelming light shows], general attitude & interests [shrooms/conspiracies], clothes and hair [whenever I see a picture of Matt, I can tell exactly in what period it was taken because of the hair xD]. And as for contact with fans, they've gone from regularly hanging out with them to treasure hunts to the occasional trip to a bouncy castle. And so the question is: in which era did you like Muse best?
I personally loved the OoS/Hullabaloo era. Because OoS is my favourite album, the live shows were intense and agressive and the venues were smaller. I just liked the kind of [pwoper!] rock 'n roll life they were living && their general weirdness. And come on. Matt with red hair > everything. [Although I also loved the blue x3]
Now. YOUR OPINION PLZ. :] && I intentionally didn't add a 'I always like them' option in the poll. I know you do, but I'm asking you to choose. Mean, innit? ;D

I'd have to say Origin of Symettry too. While my favourite album changes all the time, its most frequently OoS and same deal with favourite song (Citizen Erased).
Also Matt with the red hair. That pretty much owns over everything else for me. ^.^ And the spiked up hair. The spikes were fun!
And the whole destorying all their stuff thing was pretty fun too. At the end of Agitated on the Hullabaloo DVD, Matt absolutely drills his guitar! blaugh
Judging from watching all the extra's on my Absolution DVD, did they go through a pinstripe phase? Cos they seemed to be wearing an awful lot of pinstripes.

Absolution.
Don't get me wrong, you know I love all aspects of the band...but even though I was a fan back in 01, I guess Absolution had more of an impact on me. I mean, that does sort of show something about me as a person...considering the 'on the surface' message of Absolution...the apocalyptic cries for absolution and the idea of the world coming to an end. I suppose that reflects more on my own personal thoughts, so I tend to connect closely with that album and the message of that era 3nodding

I don't know if it's what you meant, [Apathetic Hysteria], but it is true that in the Showbiz-era, the music was easier to connect to. However much I love the band's eccentric views on politics/religion/outer space, the Showbiz songs were in a way more...human, personal?
Look at me getting all "I-studied-Museology". xD

Just now, like, serioulsy, about this minute, I realised that I'm in love with Origin Of Symmetry. It's up there with Showbiz.
OOS/Showbiz > Absolution > BH&R
Yeah.
But I love Absolution too...
Gosh, this is hard. I'm going to have to say the Absolution era, because that's when I discovered them.

I'm torn. I love the whole "psycho-nutter" thing from Showbiz-era, but Absolution is when Matt's political side was brought out to the world majorly. The crusader-type Bellamy is awesome.
I'm going with Absolution, but Showbiz is a VERY close second.

Aww, no one's said Black Holes & Revalations, so I'm changing mine from Origin of Symmetry to BH&R because I feel sorry for it.
Pity vote! heart

Gosh, I didn't expect so many people to say Absolution! Are you guys really all that politically engaged? ;P && @ Mystik: Lolz, pity vote xD Seriously though, I don't think we have to feel sorry for not voting BH&R. It doesn't mean we don't love them - just that we... used to love them more? x]

I would have to say umm...since the Absoloution Era. ISkye introduced me to their music around 2004ish and to be honest I just had to listen to their music for a few minutes and that was it. There was no going back lol.

For Matt to go and do that...is like, 'wow, someone finally said it' I guess. gonk I mean, we all know that this planet is pretty much dead if we keep going at this rate...at least Matt bothered to say something about it. mrgreen

But I can't help feeling that it's as if they weren't as... passionate about the music as they were before. I can't explain it very well, but it seems that Absolution has these songs in which the message is considered more important than the music [Sing for Absolution, Falling Away With You]. I like these sort of discussions =D

I like these sort of discussions =DSo do I. And I agree that to some extent it did appear as if they were using the music to put forth the message...but I'd say that it wasn't intentional. I think they saw that they could do something good and took that chance...which really, they should be respected for. That, and it it's no surprise. I mean, if Matt is constantly thinking about it, it's bound to come out in the music. It's like that with any art form. Your thoughts and emotions dominate what you're trying to make, and end up highly influencing it.
