Fairy Spirits
When a fae meets it's death, their soul is transformed into a Fairy Spirit. These beings are reborn with no recollection of their previous lives. Whether their death came from a natural occurrence, or they were sentenced to death by the Queen, they all meet the same end.
If they lived their previous lives positively, their strongest asset or the fondest memory a living fae has of them helps mold the newly formed fae spirit into a specific Santificado Spirit, the most blessed beings in the world of Cuentos.
The same goes for those being which lived negatively and only instilled fear or hate in their fellow fae. These beings are damned to become Malicious Spirits. Tales of Malicious Spirits are things of horror films & nightmares. It is said that their hearts are fueled by the eternal screams of other souls their elaborate tricks have consumed.
The Malicious [Evil Spirits]
When a fairy commits a crime which defies the laws of our world, they are handled by the Dark Queen of the Netherworld. A fae's soul is condemned to serve under the dark queen for the rest of their supernatural existence. These dark being are referred to as "the malicious". There are hundreds of dark tales which speak of these beings.
Though the Dark Queen lives in an alternate world which can only be reached through a special portal, her servants are mostly assigned to reside in the same space as living faeries in order to keep the balance of good and evil in the living world. These spirits travel the world with no recollection of their previous lives instilling hate in every being they come across. Any fae which falls in the hands of a malicious spirit ends up being transformed into a malicious themselves.
