Live like a Soldier... Hello all. So I'm an Army Brat and my mother is opposed to any participation on my part in anything to do with the military. This includes JROTC. I plan to go into the Army when I finish collage. I don't know why she doesn't want me to join the Army. Are there any thoughts as to how she'd take it when I tell her or why she dislikes the idea of me going into the Army? I want to make one thing clear, in no way does my mother hate the Army. I apologize for such a long post. ...Die like a Soldier

Well it's hard to say how she'll take it but she could be mad, upset, annoyed, a combination of those feelings and feelings associated with those feelings. She may dislike the idea because she's worried that you'll have to go to war in which case she may end up losing you. If this doesn't get much response here I'll move it to the main forum 3nodding

I think this prob has to do with the motherly instinct, trying to protect you, either your body, or to protect you mentally from the life she has gone through with the army, and how hard it was for her
over all, i would say its her trying to protect you

That is your choice, we can't decide it for you. If you really want it, go for it! Your mom may be unhappy with your decision at first but I'm sure she'll come around 3nodding

I would say that its ultimately your decision, and that your mom will support you no matter what you choose, she may not be happy with it, but she will support it
