What is your belief on what an angel is? And according to your belief, do you consider yourself an angel? In my welcome post, I define what I believe an angel is, and yes, I would consider myself an angel. No, I don't have wings, but I can heal and do my best to protect. That is my gift; healing. I also have a psychic connection to my sister, who is the person I care most about. I believe the stronger the bond you have with someone, the stronger the connection is. I can tell you some stories in other posts, but for now I'd like to know what you think, who you are. Angel or not? Do you believe you have an ability of any kind? Introduce yourself. smile

I beleive that people cannot be angels all the time. Most people will take the oppertunity to help out others, but to always be part of the solution? I know, for some people out there this is possible, but personally, I can't help going outside angel standards sometimes, and I always realize later. There are certain things that get in the way of angels too, and that is one main issue for me, but I would always go out of my way to help a friend, and I envy people who are perfect angels all the time.

I don't believe there is a perfect angel. Perfection is a flaw, and you're right, we can't always be good. I strongly believe in the yin and yang theory, that being that you cannot be purely good or purely evil. The way I see angels is that they try. Take any Christian faith, for example. Even their angels aren't always able to help. But they try and that's what matters. Then there are also dark angels, whose intentions are mostly unwell. So would I say that we are angels all the time? No, not always. I don't try to save everyone all the time. I like time to myself as well. You can't fix everyone, and not everyone who's "broken" feels the need to be fixed. But if a friend is in need, I do what I can for them. In that sense, and in that moment, I feel as though I could consider myself an angel.

Maybe, I do help people too much and its therey hard for me to refuse someone that needs help, people sometimes say I'm too nice, if thats possible. But I dont know if I'am an angel for certain but an angel to me is a guidance to others and a blessing 'A being empowered as a messenger of the divine, for divine justice, guidance and/or protection' is an angel. And for the special abilities, I think I may have the power of Clairempathy

I once went to see Maya Angelou and she talked about being an angel. She basically said that anyone can be a personal angel to someone else. Her talk was so inspirational that I believe that people can be angels.

As far as traditional Christian type angels, I'm not as convinced that they exist. I do believe in spirits but not so much angels with white wings.

I think I'm an angel. I like to help others and think that there is karma. I kind of like to think that angels can come in all forms. Like dark and white angels.

I agree with you there, Shep. When it comes down to how angels are portrayed, which is somewhat similar to saints (meaning perfect) I am of course no angel. But do I have moments where I am good? Yes, I usually have good intentions and I am usually there for the people I love. Do I go out of my way to help others? No, I wouldn't say so. Maybe a couple people who have asked for help who were close to me, but I don't go looking for people who need to be rescued. I've had moments where my intentions were ill endowed and I've caused harm; I am human. But when I step back and look at the big picture I see someone who cares.

I believe I'm an angel. I am charitable, kind, trustworthy. But my emotions can run wild and lead me down to a much darker path. I believe that angels are just as bad as a human being.

I'll quote what I said in my welcome post. :3

In my personal beliefs, angels are entities that influence someone, whether it be a life changing experience, or something small like changing your view on morals. However, influencing you in the sense of angels isn't like changing your mind on what you want to wear, or eat, but rather a spiritual or unearthly matters. In other words, angels are beings that open you to a higher sense of spiritual awareness.

An angel isn't a deity, but rather the soul of a human who has in turn is spiritually aware. So in my theory, everyone at some point has the properties of an angel. I believe the original angel once was a deity, because in order to learn something has to set an example to learn from.

So... in that sense, I have been an angel, at one point or another. For example, I remember about a year or so, my friend in Alabama was going through super rough times. She was cutting, depressed, and just down right pathetic. I spoke to her on the phone, took a plane the next day, and met her at her home. I simply gave her few words of advice, and a hug, and left. This year, she called me months ago, and explained to me how much my words meant to her, and how she is doing now, enjoying life optimistically.

In my beliefs as well, perfection isn't the ultimate goal. Part of being human is the imperfection that comes with it, the ultimate realization that you are imperfect and equal with everything else is the path to strive for. It's not what you can get out of life, it's what others can get out of your life.

First of all, welcome to the guild, Kazuma. smile

I think you and I have very similar ideas on what an angel is. I do not carry the weight of the world on my shoulders looking to save people, but I have on occasion been of some assistance to my sister. She is three years younger than I, and lives almost 1,000 miles away. (Yes, she likes to sing "Hey There Delilah" due to the fact that I play guitar and the distance, etc.) ANYWAY...she has had a rough time growing up. We are blood related but we were both adopted by different families, which is the reason I live in MA with my parents and she lives in MD with hers. In October of 2005 she called me in tears because her home life was falling apart. Like you, I took a plane and stayed with her for about a month, helped her get through the days without hurting herself, and tried to be there for her as best I could. Since then she's referred to me as her Guardian Angel, because I am always there for her no matter what mess she's gotten herself into. So in her eyes, I am an angel. To her parents I am the devil, but that's a whole other story.

Thank you, Snu. ^ ^

I'd also like to add this:

While I was about to sleep last night, I was thinking more on the subject. I came to this conclusion; Angels are not spiritual beings. Angels are actually created in the minds of humans. Angels are simply the image and icon of the good will in everyone.
