This is an ideological thread, so read this before you post any death metal bands. When I started this guild, it was meant for pretty much any genre of extreme metal. Now there is a death metal guild (ZOMBIE RITUAL) where most of your death metal threads probably belong. The only exceptions are black/death, thrash/death/black.. you get the picture. Now on to the band! The Chasm The Chasm MyspaceI first discredited this band because those myspace songs aren't very telling of the bands true talents. I recommend Procreation of the Inner Temple, From The Lost Years..., and Deathcult for Eternity: The TriumphThis band is considered death metal, but there are some very black metal elements here. For instance, I noticed a lot of Belketre-like riffs on "Procreation.." (example 4:11 into 'Stair to Aspirations'). Very worthwhile listen. Check it out.

Draomere I actually don't have the first two, but I love Deathcult For Eternity, and The Spell of Retribution. I totally recommend you get the first two. Cenotaph is an excellent band as well, if you can find The Gloomy Reflection Of Our Hidden Sorrows you won't be disappointed.

The Hateful Raven Draomere I actually don't have the first two, but I love Deathcult For Eternity, and The Spell of Retribution. I totally recommend you get the first two. Cenotaph is an excellent band as well, if you can find The Gloomy Reflection Of Our Hidden Sorrows you won't be disappointed. I remember being easily turned off by them. sad

One of the greatest finds in underground metal, no doubt. The Chasm is a very interesting hybrid of Death Metal, Black Metal and some hints of native Mexican folk. Their use of strange melodies and harmonies that actually fit into their songs without sticking out like a sore thumb is what makes them such a good listen IMO. Something different without fellating the novelty factor.
My favorite is their first. Deathcult was my introduction to them and took a while to "get", but it was very much worth it.
On a side note, Cenotaph's Gloomy Reflections... is ******** superb occultist Mexi Death and I'm glad to see them mentioned, Black Metal Boards or not.

I think I have From The Lost Years sleeping away & collecting dust somewhere on my shelves. (how appropriate.)
I can't remember what I first thought of them when I first gave it a listen (if any at all), but perhaps the time has come to pull it out.

It really took me a while to get into this band's sound. Like probably seven or so listens. Once I started to get Procreation's sound, Deathcult started making a ton of sense. "Confessions and a Strange Anxiety" and "The Lonely Walker (My Pride and My Wrath)" have got to be my favorite songs.
