Edo, a place of great business; always flourishing with life. The new capial of Nihon. Peaceful yet up-beat; calm as well as fast pace. All of this is protected and maintained under the watchful eye of the Shogun. Even though it seems calm enough, many people watch themselves for fear that they will become his new objected target. A group that merely call themselves "Yami" have scared the Shogun for sometime now. He once went to a lady shaman to see what his power would hold for him. The woman had a preminision that he would be killed by a shadows of a single name. Who'll not be united but stand as one. The cold cruel Yami. From that point on, anyone who was of great skill and power had a bounty on their head.

The moment the sun set on the western horizon, Kurei Mikage was on the move. He had written several copies of a single letter which read:
"Nakama -
It is time that we paid our dear friend the Shogun a little visit. I expect to see all of you in Edo on the fifth of November. That gives you one week to arrive. I believe all of you are capable of this.
We will meet at the inn located in the eastern quarter of the city. It is not hard to find. Be there by sundown on the fifth.
Until then. . .
- K."
With the letters in hand, Kurei left the inn mentioned in the letter and set off to deliver the instructions to the other members of the Yami. Distance meant nothing to him. As long as the land was in darkness, he could go anywhere in only a matter of seconds.
It took him about a half hour to deliver all of the messages to the members. Each letter was slipped discreetly under the recipient's door or delivered to them in another manner. Once the letters were all delivered, Kurei returned to Edo to continue planning for the Yami's attack on the Shogun.
((Nakama: group, circle of friends, partner, associate))
((this is a drastic change from the first one, huh? lol))

The Shogun sat in his illustrious palace, where he most likely should have been happy. However he found himself dwelling on the rumors he had been hearing lately, the winds spoke of an uprising. He frowned, picking up his cup of sake to swish idly. He had a lot of thinking to do, a lot of scheming to accomplish. He turned to his guard at the door, beckoning the man over.
O could see the man gesturing toward him and he moved quickly to kneel by the man. He had been working for the Shogun since he arrived in the city, although his love of conflict was really the reason he insisted on working for the man. He was a magnet for fighting and that suited O just perfectly.
"Yes M'lord."
"O, Junsei, There have been a number of unsettling rumors circulating about. I want you to find those who may pose a danger to my rule, those vagrant warriors, and I want you to eliminate them."
The Shogun said conversationally, although the subject matter was so grim. He drank from his cup, before bidding the man to accomplish his task. It was certainly not an easy one, but he believed the man could do it. After all, how many were there really in the city that could stand against him. The main problem was eliminating the leader, whoever that may be.

Kurei strode through the streets of Edo, keeping to the streets that were either almost deserted or completely empty. He wanted to avoid being seen by too many people. There was the chance that someone would recognize him, and the bounty the Shogun had put on his head wasn't something to be taken lightly. It was annoying that the man Kurei had once captured criminals for would turn around and make him wanted, too. The shogun was increasingly paranoid these days, it would seem. Anyone who could be considered a possible threat now found their visage on the walls in taverns and other public places.
To avoid a group of people leaving a tea house, Kurei darted around the corner and down the street that lead to the shogun's estate. He could have avoided everyone by phasing, but where was the fun in that? Besides, though he could feel everything in the darkness while he was phased, it was difficult to take in all of the information of what was around him. Being in a physical form was more effective.

"Yes sir. I'll take care of that, no problem."
O said, bowing to the man. He exited the room, following the long corridor toward the outside. He wanted to get started early, besides it was the perfect time to grab a stiff drink. He smiled lightly at that as he stepped into the brisk night air. He yawned, stretching his tired arms. He walked toward the gate, hailing the guards on either side. They allowed him to pass through and he started toward the nearest teahouse. O always mixed business with pleasure, what better way to eliminate a few threats then meeting them where they thought they were safe.

Kurei saw a man walking out of the shogun's estate and he froze, trying to judge if this man was an immediate threat or not. He did not want to kill him and announce the Yami's presence in Edo. There would be time for that later, when his nakama were there.
He assumed a more relaxed pose as he leaned against the wall of a building, acting like he really didn't have any particular reason for being there. A midnight stroll, perhaps. Nothing that was unheard of. The man probably wouldn't even notice him. His black clothing and dark hair made him blend in easily with the darkness.

O walked quickly, although he paused as he passed a very strange looking man. It wasn't uncommon to see people walking around at night, it was however unusually to see a man so intentionally dressed for misdeeds at night. Those types usually avoided the Shogun's guards. Not a wise idea to pick pocket that close. He turned his head slowly, giving the man a once over. He tucked his hand in his pocket, running his fingers over his cards. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but stopped, merely staring at him in silence.

"Is there something wrong, sir?" Kurei inquired smoothly while his mind cursed at being noticed by the man. It seemed like he was being measured up, and he tensed a little, readying himself in case the man was going to attack. He kept his hands away from the hilt of his katana though, not wanting to instigate a fight.

"No problem, persay. Just a vague familiar feeling...Do I know you?"
O asked, his eyes remaining locked on the man's. He drew a single card, turning it over in his hand as he spoke. He doubted the man could be up to anything good, dead black in the dead of night not a good sign. Besides, his orders were to eliminate threats. Perhaps he'd start right here.

Kurei shrugged, trying to keep this encounter peaceful and casual. "I can't imagine how you would know me," he replied in an uncaring tone. "I've only been here for a day or so, and I don't believe I've seen you before."
That was, of course, a lie. Though Kurei had only been in Edo for about a day, he believed he had seen this man before on a prior visit, though he did not know his name. Unless he was very much mistaken, he was one of the shogun's guards. He had seen him the last time he brought in a criminal before he quit being a bounty hunter and devoted his time entirely to the Yami.

"Mmm, see I was sure this was you..."
O said, gesturing toward the card. He held it out to Kurei, the back facing the man. He turned it toward the man, the front was a very detailed drawing on a man being engulfed in fire. Only on closer inspection, it seemed to be Kurei himself. O smiled at the man, it was certainly not a pleasant smile by far. Not long after he turned the card to face Kurei, there was a hissing sound. A fire ball streaked from midair, hurdling toward Kurei.

Kurei gazed at the illustration on the card in confusion for a few moments until he saw the fire heading toward him. He hissed in pain as his eyes stung horribly from the light, and he dove aside to avoid being burnt by the flames.
He blinked several times to get the glowing blotches that were blocking his eyesight to go away before looking back at the man. "That was uncalled for," he remarked coolly, as though he hadn't been bothered by that in the least. In truth, the man's ability worried him greatly. He couldn't afford to let his guard down.

"I know, but it's so very fun."
O said with a slight chuckle, tucking the card back into the deck. He shuffled the deck in front of Kurei, grinning at Kurei. It certainly couldn't be comforting the man to see that the man had plenty of tricks up his sleeves. He picked another card, tucking the rest into his pocket. He held it up to inspect it.
"Hm, that's intriguing..."
O remarked, as if the card hadn't been blank to begin with. He turned it to Kurei for the man's inspection. On the front, a long rope from above Kurei was wrapped around his neck in a noose, lifting him. And once more, within seconds of viewing, the rope dropped. It moved as if possessed, a serpent trying to choke it's prey.

As soon as Kurei saw the card, he looked up and saw the rope coming down, trying to wrap around his neck. He grabbed it with his right hand as he unsheathed his katana, and he proceeded to quickly cut the rope. The two pieces, however, continued to move and managed to wrap tightly around him, pinning his arms to his sides and making him lose his balance. He fell to the ground and winced from the impact.

"It's a bit harder than you'd think, dissuading the enchanted..."
O taunted, laughing at the man's predicament. He drew his own blade, placing the tip at the man's throat. He yawned lightly, as far as he was concerned it was over. It showed the true arrogance of an undefeated talent. He turned his attention to the night sky, grinning up at the moon.
"Blood in the moonlight, it appears quite black you know..."
