only saw this movie recently.
so amazing. the whole theory about jack the ripper... and ian holm scared me so much... with the black eyes. and how they incorporated other aspects of victorian london, i.e. the elephant man and frederick treves, and of course the queen and all that. i like the characters of the whores, but i didn't really care for mary kelly as a character. not sure why. godly was fun... cuz it's hagrid. muwah. and he had a liverpudlian accent. xd and depp... guhhh. this was a very powerful performance. i thought so anyway. abberline was clearly a very tortured character, with so many things hidden below the surface. fun yet hard to watch.

the story of Jack the Ripper had always facinated me. i was really impressed with the logic and the ideas presented in the movie. it was very mythological and that is what the murders of Jack the Ripper have become!

I personally had done a lot of research on Jack the Ripper before even hearing about this movie, and the accuracy that the movie showed was incredible. Of course there had to be a plot, so it wasn't exact. But I really was impressed by how similar they made the killings to the actual murders. And of course, hooray for Johnny Depp. wink

angel_of_joy the story of Jack the Ripper had always facinated me. i was really impressed with the logic and the ideas presented in the movie. it was very mythological and that is what the murders of Jack the Ripper have become! I have to agree with you on that and Jack the Ripper always interested me too. It's quite interesting (in a disgusting way) that one man went around London killing prostatutes and was never caught.

It has been a while since I have seen the movie, but it was great. All the blood was a little disturbing, however, it would not have given me the same feeling about what was going on without. To think that there are others like Jack the Ripper out there is truely disturbing.

I saw the movie in summer of 2003. I thought it was a very interesting movie at first. To be honest with you, the only reason why I saw the movie in the first place was because Johnny was in it. I really had no idea what it was about. sweatdrop But when it was in the semi-middle I began to appreciatte *sp?* the movie for it's artistic-ness. It was a very interesting storyline, and I really didn't have any idea who Jack the Ripper was until I heard his voice for the 3red-4th time. But, even though this movie had a very artistic side with me, it also had a sad one. When I first watched it and saw the ending, I cried buckets. That was actually the first movie I ever cried during. I'm not going to reveal the ending for the sake of some people who have yet to see the movie. But all I can say is that you may possibly be in tears at the end.

I only watched it because Johnny Depp was in it. Was it ever out in the cinema?
