Finally, another City. Piper was glad that she didn't have to spend another minute in the forest. She was so put out with it that by her last battle, she didn't even command her pokemon. But now there was actual civilization. She felt better now. She was going try to not think about Mt. Moon, even though it was a short ways away. She wouldn't be able to handle something like that again, but she would have if she was going to get to Cerulean City. She had always wanted to go there. Maybe there would be a contest there. Who knows. But she needed focus on the present. She walked to the Pokemon Center. The inside looked almost the same as the one in Viridian City. So did the Nurse Joy. the only difference was a pink pokemon in a chair. Everytime it sang, people around it would fall asleep. Piper took out her Pokedex.
"Jigglypuff." it said, "When it sings, it puts people and pokemon to sleep." Piper closed her Pokedex and put it away. She glared at the Jigglypuff. She didn't want to get to close to it and fall asleep, but strangely, she wanted it. She wanted the cute, pink, sphere shaped pokemon. Maybe there would be some chance to catch one. It might come in handy for contests. She walked over to the counter where Nurse Joy was standing. She handed her her three pokeballs. When she got them back, she glared at Pidgey's ball. She hadn't used it in a while and it was weaker than her other pokemon. She didn't want to release it though. She remembered talking to Prof. oak and he said something about leaving extra pokemon with him. She walked over to the PC in the far right corner of the building. She booted it up. It something about logging in. It asked for her tainer number. She had no idea what that was. She took out her trainer card and sure enough, her trainer numbers was on it. She typed it in and was logged on to the PC. She clicked the "contact" button. It asked her who she wanted to call. She typed in "Prof. Oak" and it gave her the pictures and information on many professors. She clicked to first picture which was the one she was looking for. All of a sudden, Prof. Oak came on to the screen.
"Oh, yes, Piper. What is it?" he asked.
"Can I leave a pokemon with you?" she asked.
"Sure, just place the pokeball in that spot right there," he said. Piper looked around the machine and found a rounded spot and put Pidgey's pokeball in it. A beam of light from part of the machine above the pokeball covered it and it disappeared. She exited the call with Prof. Oak. She decided to call her mom. When her mom answered she explained how a "special guest" was coming to see her so she couldn't leave Pewter City.
"What? You mean I have to stay here an extra two or three days?"
"Yes, but it will be worth it," her mom sang, then hung up. Great, she had to stay longer in this boring city. She couldn't do anything since she was a coordinator and didn't challenge gyms. All for this "special guest".Quote: Sparkle 9/9 Metapod 8/8 Pidgey went to PC

Natsuko emerged in Pewter City, Squirtle trudging along behind her. There was an excited twinkle in her eye as she ran her fingers back through her pink hair, taking in the sights of the city. There was so much more to do here than she had thought there would be, though of course anywhere was more exciting that Pallet Town. Looking down at her faithful pokemon, Natsuko let out a small giggle, heading towards the pokemon center to heal them before she went and challenged the Gym Leader. This was her moment of truth - she would either get her first gym badge, or she would fail miserably and never hear the end of it is Nomaa passed her and got her badge first. At this point however, she felt like she really had the advantage. After all, her and Squirtle made a much better team than Nomaa and her dumb fire pokemon. Sure, Charmander might be impressive, but he was nothing compared to Squirtle.
Walking through the sliding doors of the Pokemon Center, Natsuko walked straight up to the counter, setting her pokeballs down on the counter. It felt a little weird to have Squirtle in his pokeball and not at her side, but within moments, that uneasiness would no longer be there. She was still rather impressed with how quickly it took Nurse Joy to heal the pokemon. As soon as she had her pokeballs back with her, she walked out of the Pokemon Center, looking around. She knew very little about this Gym Leader, and so before she went in and challenged him, she thought that it would be prudent to learn a little about him first. Walking around, she spoke to the few people that were around, gathering as much information as she could about the Gym Leader for this city. Through her investigation, she found out that his name was Brock, and his speciality was rock-type pokemon.
"This is going to be a walk in the park," she said with a grin as she stood outside of the Gym after an hour or so just walking around the town and seeing what there was to see. After she won her badge, she could go look around the museum, but that was only if she succeeded. However, it would be an understatement to say that she was nervous. She already had butterflies in her stomach and she hadn't even gone in yet. What was it going to be like when she was face to face with a battle, thinking on her toes and facing a gym leader? With Squirtle on her side, however, there was no way she could lose, especially against a gym leader.
"No, you can do this," she said to herself out of nowhere, stepping through the Gym doors and walking purposefully towards the back of the gym. There was no backing out now, seeing as she had just set the ball rolling. It was now or never. She was only looking straight ahead when she suddenly heard someone call to her out of nowhere. Looking around, stopping dead in her tracks, she saw a boy standing to the left of her, hands crossed over his chest in a confident manner that could easily be mistaken for arrogance.
"You here to challenge Brock," he asked, tilting his head to the side as if he were genuinely waiting for her answer. There was a smirk on her face that suggested he already knew the answer, but was just trying to psych out his apparent opponent. Unfortunately for him, he had certainly never met a girl like Natsuko before, who was not about to back down from a challenge unless she was struck dead on the spot.
"Yea, what's it to you," she asked in the same cocky manner he had addressed her, turning and standing with Squirtle's pokeball ready in her hand. The boy mentioned something about being lightyear's away from facing Brock with any chance of winning, and his arrogance simply made her laugh out loud at the thought of him standing in her way.
"Is that so," she said to him with a smirk on her lips as he pulled out a pokeball, releasing a Geodude into the ring, "We'll just see about that. Let's show him Bloo!" Squirtle appeared in the ring, facing the Geodude with a purposeful look on his face. As the Geodude rushed forwards in a tackle attack, Bloo released a bubble attack at the rock pokemon, which sent it flying back across the ring. It was a critical hit, coupled with the type difference that caused a 1 hit knock out.
"Oh, you're gonna pay for that one! Get 'em Sandshrew," he called out, releasing a rather cure pokemon into the ring. Squirtle reared back, as if he were poised to attack once more, but Natsuko called him back, instead choosing to get at least one of her pokemon a little more experience from these battles. Certainly a gym battle would be enough to help one of them grow a little bit. Releasing Metapod into the battle, the trainer simply laughed out loud at her choice in pokemon, calling for his pokemon to rush forwards in a scratch attack. Unfortunately, there was nothing Metapod could really do to counter the attack, and so with one hit, it slid back across the ground. That was all she could really spare. Calling her back, Natsuko sent Squirtle back into the battle, much to the dismay of Sandshrew's trainer. Two well placed bubble attacks later, the Sandshrew was down for the count, and Squirtle grew a level for his hard work. Jumping up and down at her success in a rather uncharacteristic show of excitement, Natsuko swept Squirtle into her arms, giving him a tight hug before turing and pointing at the cocky trainer who thought he could stand in her way of getting her first badge.
"Maybe you'll think twice before messing with me again," she said with a smirk, placing her hand on her hip in a rather cocky fashion before continuing forward to take on the main attraction, Brock.

Natsuko strolled up the the gym leader of the Pewter City Gym - Brock. Clearing her throat as she stood on the middle of his arena, he turned to look at her, looking her up and down for a moment before speaking, "Well...Let me guess. You are here for the BoulderBadge, am I right?" Natsuko put on a look on complete concentration as she gave a nod, standing her ground against him. She was younger than he was, and much smaller, but that was no reason for her to be intimidated. He seemed to think for a moment before giving her a nod, indicating that he was willing to do battle for her. If she won, this would be the single greatest moment on her journey so far. Each of them took their places on either side of the arena, Brock on the Right, Natsuko on the left. She stared across the space between them intently, waiting on him to throw out his frist pokemon. This was a perfect opportunity to get some of her weaker pokemon experience points - especially with Bloo on her side. She had a type advantage, so this was going to be a walk in the park.
"Alright Geodude! Let's show this girl how we do it," he said, releasing his first pokemon into the ring. She had heard that he used all rock pokemon, and for that she was very thankful. After all, she had the advantage in every way as far as she could see it. Thinking for a moment about which pokemon she wanted to gain experience, she decided that Metapod was a good choice. The sooner she could get her to evolve, the better. She wanted that rare pokemon her father had always talked about.
"Go, Mari," Natsuko called out, releasing the green cacoon pokemon into the arena, Metapod looked up at the floating Geodude with a mix of emotions in her eyes. Natsuko had called on her to take care of this battle, and she would do whatever she could, even if she was out-matched. Because of the difference in level, Brock's geodude got to go first, which she ahd expected. The geodude, at his trainer's command, leapt forwards in a tackle attack, slamming straight into Mariposa, and causing the pokemon to slide back across the arena with a cry. That was all that Natsuko needed. Calling Mariposa back into her pokeball, Natsuko released Bloo into the arena - it was now time to take this Geodude down. As Brock saw her release a water pokemon, he called for Geodude to use Defense Curl, which would bring up his pokemon's defense a little bit, but it was not going to be enough. Natsuko called for Bloo to use his Bubble attack, which hit the rock-type Geodude full force. Even with the defense boost it had gained from his turn, it was still super effective, and you could already begin to see Geodude beginning to look physically more tired.
"Geodude, use Mud Sport," Brock called out, in a last chance effort to save his pokemon from defeat. As Geodude pumped mud into the air, covering the arena with it, Natsuko could not help but grin slightly. It might have made electric moves less powerful, but against her water pokemon, it did little more than get it dirty. "Finish it off Bloo," Natsuko called out as Squirtle launched forward in another bubble attack. It hit the same as the first one, and Geodude fell to the ground with a thud. Brock looked a little stunned that he had lost the first battle, but he still had an ace up his sleeve with Onix. Both trainers returned their pokemon to their respective pokeballs, Natsuko looking across at Brock with a smile on her face. She was going to win this, she could tell. With Bloo by her side, it was going to be a walk in the park no matter what pokemon he threw out at her. Little did she know, he was about to throw out one of the biggest pokemon she had ever seen. As Brock released Onix from his pokeball into the arena, Natsuko's eyes widened. She had never seen anything like it before in her entire life, and she was in complete shock at the massive size of the pokemon before her. She had no idea how she was going to defeat it, but she had to if she wanted to get that badge before Nomaa. After thinking for a moment, she decided that she should still try to get one of her other pokemon some experience, knowing that she could always rely on Bloo when it came down to it.
"Alright, you haven't been out in a while," she muttered to herself, taking out Rattata's pokeball and releasing him into the arena. Immediately, the purple rat pokemon looked around wildly, locking in on Onix as the opponent to beat. She could tell that he was ready to battle, though she knew that she would have to call him back before the end of the battle. There was no way a small nromal type pokemon like him wouldbe able to defeat such a large rock type. Before Onix even had a chance to move, Natsuko prompted her pokemon to spring forward in a quick attack. In the blink of an eye, Ratta was darting across the room faster than Onix ould keep up, attacking when he got into range. The attack did not do much damage at all, but it was something, that was for sure. As Rattata slowed down, Onix took his chance to attack, tackling the purple rat pokemon with all it's weight. Rattata flew back across the ring, landing rather hard on the ground in front of Natsuko. Natsuko, out of concern for her pokemon and anticipation of winning her first gym match, recalled Rattata back to his pokeball, releasing Bloo as she had done before. Again, Brock took the appearance of the water pokemon seriously, and instructed Onix to unleash a Screech attack into the arena in order to try and lower Blo's defense. As the noise emitted through the area, Natsuko and Bloo both covered their ears, leaving Bloo rather open to attack at the moment, his defenses dropping substantially.
"Don't lose focus Bloo! Hit it with a Bubble attack," she called out as Bloo shook his head to regain complete focus for his trainer. Jumping into the air, he unleashed a string of bubbles at Onix. Onix could not get out of the way in time, and the water atteck made contact with his rock body, dealing a substantial amount of damage in the process.
"]Alright Onix, show then just how strong you are! Use Rock Throw," Brock called out, seeming to get a little agitated that his rock pokemon were falling fast to her water pokemon. Onix gave a might cry as a huge rock suddenly was hurled straight at Bloo. Thankfully the size of the rock slowed it down a little bit, and Bloo managed to jump out of the way as the mighty rock smashed into the floor of the arena. Bloo suddenly appeared on top of the rock, jumping into the air once more and releasing another strem of bubbles towards Onix. They connected, and the mightly Onix gave a mighty cry before slumping over onto the ground. Brock's mouth was aghast as he realized that he had been defeated. Meanwhile, Natsuko could hardly ontain herself. Jumping into the air, she pumped her fist before running up to Bloo, sweeping him off of teh ground and spinning in a circle with him at arm's length in the air. Brock crossed the space between them, a small badge in his hand, and a TM in the other.
"Looks like you beat me. On behalf of Pewter City Gym, It is my priviledge to give you the Boulder Badge," he said, handing her the basge in his hand. Natsuko accepted it, hugging it close to her chest before sticking it onto her trainer card and sliding it into her messenger bag, which was hanging over her shoulder. She turned to walk out before Brock stopped her once more, grabbing her by the arm. "Oh, I want you to have this also, It's the TM Rock Tomb. Might come in handy," he said, giving her the TM that was in his hand as well. Natsuko smiled brightly and accepted the gift from the Gym LEader, shaking his hand one more time before exiting the gym. The minute she was outside she let out a scream of delight, which she had been holding in practically the entire time she had been in there. Jumping up and down a few times, she took a few deep breaths to get control of herself once more before heading towards the Pokemon Center. She had officially obtained her first badge and a substantial cash prize.
"Take that Nomaa," she muttered softly with a smile on her face, walking through the sliding glass doors of the Pokemon Center to heal her pokemon before she continued on her journey.

Natsuko was still walking on air as she headed towards the front counter in the Pokemon Center. Nurse Joy stood behind the counter as always, looking as radiant as she had ever looked to Natsuko before in ehr life. Her pokemon were not even in bad shape for getting out of a gym battle, but before she headed on her way, she wanted to make sure that they were going to get as much rest as they needed. After all, they had worked hard for her in winning that battle.
"Nurse Joy, I just need to get my pokemon healed," she said with a smile that she could not smear off her face if she wanted to. Placing her pokeballs on a tray, Nurse joy disappeared into the back to recouperate them while Natsuko took a seat to the side, looking at the trainers around her. She wondered how many of them had already faced the gym leader, though she was not about to ask any of them. She had no idea where they were going on their journey, but she did know that hers was going to be a great success - This battle had just proved it to her.
Nurse Joy appeared in the front once more with her pokeballs, which Natsuko accepted graciously. From there, it was off to the PokeMart, where she needed to spend some of her hard earned cash from winning the gym battle. Walking into the store, she headed up to the coutner where a rather good looking boy wearing an apron was standing. "May I help you," he asked, looking at her over the counter. Natsuko thought for a moment before she placed her order, "I need 8 pokeballs, 2 awakenings and 1 potion please," she said with a smile, reaching down into her bag to pull out the money that she needed to pay for everything. Pulling out P2300 she handed it to the man, who handed her a bag full of her items. Thanking him, she left the store, putting them into the appropriate places in her bag as she walked, heading straight for Route 3. As she stood at the beginning of the next phase of her journey, she looked back at Pewter City, heaving a sigh of accomplishment. She could not believe how this adventure was turning out, but she was so ready to begin the next phase. Turning on her heel, she pressed forward, into Route 3.

Nomaa stepped through the building that serparted Pewter City from Viridian Forest, stepping to the side to let Mimi through right after her. As she saw the city before them, she had to pause, feeling her jaw drop, but not being able to do anything about the stunned look on her face. The city was like nothing she had ever seen before, that was for sure. There were so many more buildings then in Pallet Town, not to mention the different sorts of buildings that there were. Coming from Celadon, Mimi might not think anything of it, but to Nomaa this was the biggest City she had been in to date.
"This is so cool," she said with an excited giggle, bouncing forwards in excitement, making a little turn in the air before she landed, Charmander walking up next to her. "Char," he said excitedly, taking a step past her towards the Pokemon Center. She wanted to explore the town a little, but after such a long stint of walking, she had to admit that she was somewhat ready for a rest.

Mimi couldn't help but smile too, seeing Nomaa so excited. There was something about people like them, like Nomaa and Mimi, whose positive and cheery personalities seemed to be contagious. That was the main reason Mimi always tried to be an optimist, even when things looked bad. Negative feelings were just as contagious as positive ones, and she never wanted anyone to feel bad on her account.
Mimi had to add a little skip to her step to keep up with Nomaa. They headed to the Pokemon Center first, for a much needed rest. The girls placed their pokeballs on a tray that Nurse Joy and her Chansey took to a machine in the back. While they waited for their Pokemon to be healed, they decided to rest their tired legs on the benches in the waiting room.
"It sure is good to be out of that forest, I have to admit," Mimi said. She stifled a short yawn before continuing. "I'm pretty tired after a long day of training. Maybe it's because I didn't get enough of a rest after my trip from Celadon before starting my journey." She had started her journey the day after arriving at her aunt's house. Perhaps if she had planned to come earlier, she would have been a little more rested. It would have also been nice to spend a day or two in Pallet Town.
"Well, either way I'll be glad to sleep in a bed tonight. I heard Pokemon Centers have plenty of rooms for traveling trainers."

Swinging her legs under her so she was sitting indian style on the bench next to Mimi, she gave the girl her full attention, giving nods where appropriate. She was getting more nad more tired as they sat there, only showing how much training they had been doing today. The sun set completely through the window of the Pokemon Center, Nomaa stifling a small yawn with the back of her hand.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that for sure," Nomaa said about the beds, the thought of sleeping in one bringing a tingle of anticipation to her weary muscles. "After all that walking, I could use a soft bed to rest up in before Charmander and I get back to training tomorrow," she said with a small nod. She was glad to be out of the forest, that was true, but she knew she would not be able to defeat Brock as it stood right now. She was going to have to go around and battle some more Pokemon in the forest to get her team stronger before she would be able to stand any chance at all against Brock - one of the problems with choosing a fire type to begin with. Never the less, she would find a way to beat him. Maybe after a good night's rest she could start thinking strategy.

Mimi, too, noticed that it had already become dark from looking out the window just across from them. She wanted to get up early, so after a meal, she was ready for bed. Mimi situated herself sideways on the bench so that she could face Nomaa and rest one of her elbows on the bench's backrest.
"Hey, after we get our Pokemon back from Nurse Joy, let's get something to eat and then a room to sleep in for the night," she told Nomaa. "The Pokemon Center has a cafeteria and I'm sure Nurse Joy would be happy to get us a bite to eat and a room."
Mimi stifled yet another yawn with the hand on the arm that rested on the backrest of the bench. This time, she rubbed her eyes as well, as they were getting all watery from the yawning and her exhaustion.

"Oh, that sound just delightful," Nomaa said with a smile, turning her torso around in a slightly weird move so she was at least able to make eye contact when Mimi as the two of them sat. It was only a moment later that she glanced over to the front counter to See Nurse Joy waving the two girls over, each of their Pokemon teams snug in their pokeballs on their respective trays. Standing, she straightened out her skirt, giving Mimi a small smile before they walked over to the counter, picking up her pokeballs and replacing them on her person.
"How bout that food," she asked, wanting to make sure that Mimi was ready to go before she just started heading in that direction.

Mimi got up and followed Nomaa over to Nurse Joy, taking her own try of pokeballs and placing them back bag. She turned to Nomaa and nodded in response to her question about food. Before Nurse Joy headed back to her station at the front desk, Mimi asked her where they might find the cafeteria and a room for the night.
"Oh, of course!" Nurse Joy replied. "Chansey here can take you two to get something to eat and show you to your room afterwards. Hold on just a moment, though." Nurse Joy went back behind the counter and retrieved an item from a drawer. When she approached the girls again, she handed to Mimi a small, bronze key.
"You'll need that to unlock your room," She glanced and Chansey and said, "You get these girls and their Pokemon something good to eat and then show them to their room, okay Chansey?" Then she looked back to the girls, smiled and said, "Make sure you two get plenty of rest. Goodnight girls."
The girls nodded and thanked her for her hospitality before following Chansey down a long hallway and into a room with a couple of booths and tables against a wall with wide windows that looked outside. Chansey sat the girls in one of the booths under a dark window, then left for the food closet to get them something to eat. While they were waiting, Mimi looked across the table at Nomaa.
"Nurse Joy is definitely a very nice person. It's wonderful that she opens up her Pokemon center to traveling trainers. As if it wasn't enough that she heals our Pokemon for free!"

Nomaa pulled her legs up, sitting indian style underneath the table, seeming completely oblivious to the fact that she was wearing a dress...not exactly the most lady-like thing to do.
"No kidding. I can honestly say that sheis one of the nicest people I have ever met - and I have met a lot of people in my day," she said with a small laugh. It would be obvious that she was being a little sarcastic about the number of people that she had met in her lifetime, considering the small town that she came from. The Chansey came back, plopping a plate of food down in front of them. Nomaa happened to have chicken and rice with some sauteed vegetables. It was rather simple, but sitting down to a cooked meal was more than Nomaa could even wish for at the moment. Grabbing her chopsticks, she began to just dig right in, taking large bites. "Mmm, thif if dewifus," she said with her mouth full, taking a drink of the glass of water that was set before her.

Mimi nodded in agreement. Chansey had brought them quite a delicious meal indeed. Mimi savored every bite, as she didn't expect to eat this good for the majority of her Pokemon journey. The two girls spent the remainder of their meal eating and exchanging small talk. When they'd finished, like clockwork, Chansey was back to clean up and show them to their room.
The room itself was pretty small, but it was only a Pokemon Center in Pewter City, so Mimi didn't expect much of it anyway. She was merely grateful she wouldn't be sleeping in her sleeping bag on the hard ground tonight. There were two beds in the room - each on an opposite side of the wall, with a night stand in between them. Above the night stand was a small window with blue curtains.
Mimi plopped down on one of the beds, mentally noting how nice and soft it was. She sighed tiredly, but smiled at Nomaa and asked, "So, are you going back to the Viridian Forest tomorrow morning for some more training?"

Nomaa walked into the room shortly after Mimi, flopping down on the opposite bed on her stomach, slumping her backback next to the nightstand. Pulling the pillow in towards her, she looked over at Mimi, giving a little shurg. "I guess so. I know if I were to verse Brock tomorrow I wouldn't do so well. Charmander is strong, but fire against rock wouldn't go over too well. I still have a lot of strategy to think about." She gave a nod to Mimi, though it was more of a solidifying gesture to herself that there was no way around it. Until she figured out a way to break the type advantage the gym leader had over her, there was little she would be able to do.
"What about you? Planning on taking on the Gym tomorrow?"
(( Sorry it is so short. BTW, do we have to defeat Brock before we move on to Route 3, or can we coem back and verse him? Nomaa still has to train quite a bit before she can take on Brock, and it is going to take forever just battling wild pokemon in the forest. ))

((You can move on and come back...because coordinators/breeders have the option of not even challenging Brock and moving on. So I don't see why it would be different for trainers. Plus, I feel for you...lol. It would be so boring battling in the forest. However, you have to be careful if you move on to Route 3 and battle trainers...because most of those trainers' Pokemon are like Brock's level so they will do 2HP damage to your Pokemon instead of 1HP like in the forest))
Mimi nodded. "Yes, I think so," she said. Truthfully, she was a bit nervous, but she did think her Pokemon could handle it. "I trained my Pokemon a lot in the forest and my Bulbasaur has a type advantage." Mimi actually intended on taking down Brock with Bulby alone, in order to test her skills as a trainer. Her other Pokemon had a type-disadvantage anyway, and it wouldn't be wise to send them out against Brock's rock-types.
"Well, either way the both of us have a long day ahead of us tomorrow. We should probably get some sleep."
((Ack...I guess mine wound up being short too))
