Title: FanFiction.Net - My Daughter's Eyes, a Full Metal Alchemist fanficMy Penname: FanFiction.Net - Profile: Trekker4lifeSpiritual/Tragedy/Songfic - Rated T - Complete. Disclaimer: I own no part of the series Full Metal Alchemist, nor do I own the song "In My Daughter's Eyes" by Martina McBride. Summary: Ever wonder why he was so obsessed with showing off pictures of his daughter? It couldn’t be just fatherly pride, could it? Maybe she meant more to him than any of us ever knew. (NOT incest, people...get your minds out of the gutter.)A/N: Sorry about the incest note, but FMA fanfic categories are filled with Elricest and other such nasty stuff, so I felt the need to put it in my summary.

Here's a snippet to wet your whistle.... It's not very big, but I don't think I can really break any of the other parts up....
********************************************
“Is that better, princess?” he asked her, as he tucked her in. “Much better, daddy.” She yawned. “Good night, princess,” he said and leaned down to kiss her goodnight on her forehead. “Mm, ‘night, daddy. Love you.”
He was halfway out of the room before her last words reached him. “Love you too, Elysia,” he said, closing the door behind him.
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I’ve found who I want to be
In my daughter’s eyes
He walked back to the master bedroom and slipped back into bed, Gracia still asleep. His mind was always so full of details from work – the Homunculi, the Philosopher’s Stone, the latest disaster to befall Ed and Al – but somehow, all it took was just a little thing like monsters in the closet to wash it away…even if it was only for the night.

This was a very nice story, I enjoyed the Maes pov. Just to let you know, he doen't die IN the booth, he actually comes out of it, drops the picture he of him and his family and tries to fight, but then gets shot and dies in the street. I still cry at the funeral scene- and I rarely cry, so good on you for keeping the same emotion of the manga and anime.
As for the song lyrics, I really found them more of a distraction - to be honest, the second time I read through it I just skipped over them and it read fine. I'd just replace it with a small spacer of dashes, truely. It might also let you to add more to the short scenes.
I really did enjoy this, it was very touching.
