Super Smash Brothers Brawl Tournament Guild A number of tournaments of which will be the following -Item Matches -Singles -Doubles -Crews
Set Rules Overall for Singles and Doubles
-Double Elimination -8 Minutes -3 Stock -No items -Best 2 of 3 for normal matches -Best 3 of 5 for semi and final matches -First stage will be choosen by random -Random Stages are the following neutral stages -Dave’s Stupid Rule (DSR): No stage may be used twice in a single set if the counter-picking player has already won on that stage. -Advanced Slob Picks: Loser may choose the next stage or select to go random. The winner may then change their character, followed by the loser. -Stage Knock Out: Each person may choose one stage to be disabled for the entire set, it must be chosen at the beginning of the set, after initial characters are chosen. -Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned. -Team Attack will be ON -Life stealing allowed
WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED A SET, WILL THE LOSERS PLEASE POST IN THE REPORT THREAD AND PROCLAIM WHO THE WINNERS ARE. This is just for insurance.
The Mages DQ Rule is applicable when a player is late for a match and it goes as follows: 2 Minutes Late – Warning 4 Minutes Late – Loss of first match of set 6 Minutes Late – Loss of set
Banned Stages: The following are the stages I would personally ban just from the looks of it...
Temple Reason: Its just too big. It allows a character to just take a stock off the opponent and just run away the rest of the match and he or she shall win just by having more stocks then his or her opponent
New Pork City Reason: Same as temple, WAY TOO BIG
Warioware: Reason: Same as Pictochat. It seems as though the mini games seem to spawn at random and seemed to be picked at random.
Big Blue Reason: I like the stage and all but the fact that all you have to do is get thrown onto the floor below and instantly losing a stock sucks...
Rumble Falls Reason: Stage moves
Luigi's Mansion Reason: The platforms inside of the mansion are techable so just by staying under them you could live forever...
Frigate Orpheon Reason: It flips and we do not know what happens or what advantages, if any, can be gained during this flip.
Sky World Reason: Destructable Platforms. Now upon closer inspection, it holds another problem which would be the small platform in the corner which would still keep this as a counter pick. As of now, its a banned stage because of the platforms...Despite them being able to break, your still able to camp under them, like in luigi's mansion, and keep on living forever...
Green Hill Zone Reason: Walk off edges
Bridge of Eldin Reason: It is a big stage and is very flat and a big hole in the center can be made allowing one player to camp the other side forcing his or her opponent to charge them and immedietly be set up for an edge guard. In addition to walk off sides...
Shadow Moses Island Reason: Big stage
Mario Bros. Reason: Big stage
The Summit Reason:I dunno...I just really dislike the way this stage plays...And the fact that the fish can automatically take a stock off is BS.
Spear Pillar Reason: Random effects like everything going in reverse..BS
Hanenbow Reason:Big stage...
Shadow Moses Island Reason: Big side pillars makes it hard for people to get Ko'd off of the side.
75m Reason: Stage is freakin HUGE!?!
Distant Planet Reason: I dont know...This is a debatable one on smashboards. Its on that line which I dont really understand right now. So for now Im going to let it go.
Mushroomy Kingdom Reason: Despite it being a cool stage, it is a walk off stage which results in it being banned.
Yoshi's Island(Past) Reason: A small level with no changes other then a plat form that occasionally comes out.
Counter Pick Stages
Mario Circuit Reason: It has cars coming through randomly, but it does give a fair warning when theyre going to plow through.
Pirate Ship Reason: With random Cannon balls, getting ship wrecked, and other things this is a debatable stage. However, because I like it Im going to keep it legal x3
PictoChat Reason: It seems as though things just seem to spawn on the stage at random....
Pokemon Stadium 2: Reason: First off, I love the first stadium and its stage changes. However in number 2 the stage changes are just plain annoying and really do nothing but disrupt the match instead of giving a new field to play on.
Delfino Plaza Reason: Stage Changes
Castle Siege Reason: Stage changes
Battleship Halbred Reason: Stage changes
The Summit Reason: Stage Changes
Norfair Reason: Lava
Brinstar Reason: Lava[
Rainbow Ride Reason: Stage constantly changes but at a slow and steady pace and isnt random.
Jungle Japes Reason: Dunno really...But it was in melee so Ill just go with that :p
Green Greens Reason: Probably the exploding blocks, close walls, and low ceiling probably had something to do with it.
Onett Reason: Dunno...But its either I put it in here, or ban it...I really dont know why they banned this in melee...Oh well
Port Town Reason: Its basically mute city, and with moving platforms and bottom area's that deal damage instead of killing you, I make this a counter pick.
Pokemon Stadium 1 Reason:Its a standard level and the stage changes, doesnt affect the fight too much.
Neutral Stages
Battlefield Reason: Nothing really big changes in this stage except from day to night
Yoshi's Island Reason: A small stage, not really campable and the only thing that changes is a platform coming off from the side, which doesnt really disrupt gameplay too much.
Lylat Cruise Reason: Its like FD with only the background changing. However I must say that is it quite distracting. (Ooo...Pretty! =O~)
Smashvillle Reason: A stage where the only thing that changes are the platforms
Final Destination Reason: Its a flat stage with no changes.
There, Im basically done....Ill do coloring later.
Steps on how to do a set
First off, have your random stages set to the neutral stages listed above. Then you both pick your characters and selct Random stage After the match the loser gets to pick a stage from the counterpick stages or the neutral stages. After the loser decides a stage, they may change characters. Winner goes first and then the loser. After they pick their characters they go to the selected stage. Then repeat until someone has won the set.

Pardon my naivity, but what do you mean by Counter Pick?
And the Banned stages, are they perma-banned? Or are they just suggestions for banned? Because you said you would personally ban them.
Also, how are you guys planning on regulating all of this? Can you specify what fights to watch via Spectator Mode? And can you watch the character selection and stage selections via Spectator Mode?

Alright in the first set, the first stage is chosen at random from the NEUTRAL stages. From there the loser can pick a stage from the COUNTER PICK stages or from any of the NEUTRAL stages. The banned stages are stages that cant be played on during the tournament... We plan on having people report in their matches. No and no. If we need to spectate, we'll have a 3rd character, us, join the match and kill ourselves off 4 times and then just watch from above.

Just a quick question, in tournaments will we be able to switch characters between matches? For example, if i was using bowser and my new opponent is using Sonic, would i be allowed to switch out bowser for someone else?

Dark_Illusion_Hokage Just a quick question, in tournaments will we be able to switch characters between matches? Quote: Advanced Slob Picks: Loser may choose the next stage or select to go random. The winner may then change their character, followed by the loser. Personally though, I don't think we should. But that's just me.

But that's just me. The reason for advanced slob picks is so the loser gets a better chance at beating the opponent. Not sure if you knew but some characters do better on some stages and have more advantages then the other. For example, a Falco does better on Final Destination because there are no platforms so it would be harder for people to avoid his lasers. A Jigglypuff could do better on Jungle Japes because of the low floor, it has low floors, high ceiling, and close ledges so it would allow her to easily use the ledges to her advantage. Stuff like that.

seems fine to me. I guess I'll plan on not picking any stages. I also wont be worrying about changing character cause I usually stick with one. ninja

The only problem with having another player is that the camera will be a pain and depending on where they spawn they could interrupt the match, but I don't have any better ideas, if only spectator was better.

I meant for tournaments because the match is a random pre-recorded match so you can't choose what match you want to watch therefore we can't rely on that for judging.

But those are minor and can easily be fixed.

You really dont have to worry about the camera angle because the match will focus on the two players and not the spectator because he would have killed himself off already. And whats the problem with the spawning area? Oh no, I Im not placed in the proper halo? Doesnt seem like a problem to me...
