In this thread we discuss artists that we like, why we like them and why others might or might not.

I'm into pop. Pure and simple, be it Western or Eastern, nothing gets me going like squeaky voiced nubiles (yes, I mainly like female vocalists) singing about nothing important. My favourite bands are electropop like Cansei de Ser Sexy and new Young Pony Club; J-pop like Chieco Kawabe and Puffy Amiyumi and R&B like Lily Allen.

I do have an obssession with David Bowie as well.

I am also not above admitting that a huge draw for these artists is that they're sexy too.

I listen to a little bit of everything. I'm not fond of rap, country, hiphop, etc, but I do have some of it.

I go through phases where I fluctuate between listening to a lot of EBM and Industrial, Jazz and Blues, Punk, Celtic and World, Classic Rock, more modern stuff, but my favourite is always a random blend.

For my favourites of each type, it'd probably be easiest to check some of the stuff I've listed in my profile. Not everything is there, of course, but it's a start.

I must admit to liking a bit of EBM myself. I used to love Classic Rock, but now it just feel stale to me.

I can understand that. I feel the same way about a lot of it. But there's always something, the stuff they don't play on the radio, that I haven't heard before- which is new and interesting.

Obscure music (is totally a genre). That's music that no one's heard of but isn't Indie (though I will admit there is one Indie band I enjoy– Beatnik Turtle. They're not emo, either!). It's mostly geek music, really. Classical, some rock, Europop (I wish I knew why! It's so electronic and I play viola). Some other odds and ends. Oh, and Celtic rocks. I love doing fiddle music/

I must say my favorite genre is ska. It sounds happy, even when it's talking about negative things. The Aquabats are one of my favorite bands, they're just a bunch of goofy, lovable guys in superhero costumes. I like weird stuff, like that girl above me.

They Might Be Giants, another of my favorite bands, is one that pretty much EVERYONE has heard, whether they know it or not, but just about no one actually knows.

I love nearly anything with accordion or violin in it. (I really want to learn to play the accordion.) I love Weird Al and Voltaire, at least partially, because of this.

I like a lot of different things from all sorts of genres. I even have one country song and a couple rap songs I like. X D I like to have songs that can cover every possible event that could happen in life.

I'm just recently starting to get into reggae. No favorite bands yet, but Pandora Radio has been a great help.

I actually don't mind some mainstream rap. Everyone is always deadset against it, but I do like some of it, provided it isn't misogynistic or bigoted. I love Kanye West and Timbaland, damn right.

Ugh. I hate accordion. Then again people hate the bagpipes, so I may be a hypocrite. But after working retail from 14-18 at a place with a greeter who played (not so well) all day long... *KICK*

Blasphemer! scream

Naw, I understand. : P That does sound like it would be grating on the nerves after a bit.

Both accordions and bagpipes are cool. I'd rather annoying squeaky keyboads than either, though.

I like some of everything, except a lot of rap and country, but it's alright.
I like Kanye West. His songs are really good.
I also like Christina Ag-whatever her last name is.
I can never remember how to say or spell it.
I mainly listen to alternative rock and some rock from before I was born.
And that's about it.
My grandmother got me into music, especially rock.

Progressive and Neo-Prog rock for me.

Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, King Crimson, Muse, The Mars Volta, Coheed and Cambria....all amazing stuff.

I love Muse. I wanted to win that contest they had to go see them when they played New York. I didn't win, obviously.
Coheed and Cambria, I like some of their songs, but haven't gotten into them very much, but it usually takes me a while to get into something.

I tried to get tickets and they sold out almost instantly. If I ever see Muse, I'll be able to die a happy man. And Coheed isn't for everyone, the same as the Mars Volta is for very few at all.
