We need more Gaians to join this guild....we need more RICH Gaians to join this guild....~

And in order to do that....we have to start with the chatterbox...where the most approachable bored Gaians hang out.....
So....what kinda of thread should we make...?
Something that involves bumping/recuiting/randomness.... = gold
I was thinking that maybe we can do a tree-figure type recruitment plan...

Ex.
For everyon 10 person you recuit...you get 100g.
For every 10 person those 10 person you recuit recuited.....you get 50g.
And so on and so on.....
This of course requires to be very well organized and supervisied....so we need some brain storming and people with superb marketing skills to starting playing some role and get this rolling.... 3nodding

I'm fine with trying something in GD but Chatter Box is out of the question. It's just a matter of choosing your market. In our case we need to advertise to potential members who would be both serious and wouldn't hurt our credibility with things like...

Like OmG! want 2 tak ovre teh w0rld?!?! clik herE!!

The whole affiliate program thing is a pretty nice idea though. We'd just need to figure where the money comes from.

From my point of view.....I think we should worry about quantity more than quaility right now....
To gain power with alot of people is much easier than to gain power with alot of gold and a small bunch of smart people....
The ones organizing events can talk about stuff in another secret thread where the new members do not know about....and when we see potensial Gaians that have some influnces or rich or anything that is worth being in the leadership group....we can secretly ask them to join the inner party...~

And instead of telling them we're going to rule the world...we will tell them that we will rule over Gaia...first.... ninja
We want to make Gaia a better place...we will organize charities and stop flaming and nOObs and all that goody goody...~

Well, you saw how many members we got when this was a thread in ED. Maybe a second recruitment thread in their or what not. Chatterbox is a no. To many people who just want to talk and are not concerned with our real goal. Rich people yes. Thats why you get to know some of them and lure them in. I already know alot of them so hey.

To recuit first in ED is a good idea.....but we can't have 100people all working together.....~~
What I'm saying is....ED is where the smart and mature Gaians hang out....if they join this guild...they want to be serious with it and they will actually do something...~
But in order to HAVE something for them to do....we need a bigger population~

I'd have to agree with many of those who posted earlier by saying that Chatterbox isn't necessarily the best place to look. Sure, it's the most popular forum on the sight with the most members, but it's also one of the most pointless forums on Gaia and will not help us achieve our goals.

Also, please elaborate more on "rich." "Rich" Gaians as far as the gold system is moot, we can't do anything with Gaian currency, it's fake, it as no basis for power. Rich Gaians as far as real money is something to look for but not excessively. Keep our audience to ED, GD, and a few other forums, but not Chatterbox. Our members should feel motivated by our guild's purpose, not our money.

What we do need to do is create a thread in ED, GD, and a few others which belongs there but at the same time advertises the DarkStar Party. It needs to be of good quality so that it will last long and we need to post intelligently in there. Next thing that we need to do is associate ourselves with other guilds with similar purposes to ours (one example is La Revolution). We need to gain the recognition and support of the people with real power on this website so that we may expand our sphere of influence (these people are the administrators and moderators as well as some of the more recognized members of Gaia). Money of any kind as of yet is of no consequence nor need until we expand outside of the internet.

We can't take shortcuts; that's the one thing that will destroy us in the long run. Besides, if you look either of the "more intelligent" forums you'll notice a serious aversion to chatterbox quality discussion. So if our guild fills up with chatterbox quality intelligence, how long do you think it will take for some of our more intelligent and productive members to leave?

I'm also concerned with their affect on the leadership, if we close off and segrigate the members we run the risk of corruption and egos. Yet if we allow them some power or a voice, we run the risk of one person, who thinks he/she knows best, taking advantage of those foolish enough to join their following and thus disrupting the power base and leading to a biased (and probably faulty) plan.

Then again, if we could create new sub-forums within groups (as well as clear up a few issues) then I'd be all for it; we could just mimic Gaia with it's forums.

So I understand now...~
Although the chatterbox is abit easier to lure people in....those people will just lead us into chaos.... sweatdrop

But at the same time....although the Gaian currency is not very useful to us at the moment...we still need plently of it in order to have some influence over Gaia.....~
So I suggest that we put an entrace fee to this guild...and come up with a couple of very good reasons why people should pay to join this guild...~
Eg.
- be part of something big
- make yourself useful...help to make Gaia a better place
- simpily hanging out in a nOOb free environment
anymore...?

I see it now, or at least I see something. The more money this guild collects the more influence we have on Gaian society. By becoming one of Gaia's number one controllers of gold we can attract attention and even influence the prices of items. We just need members to do that.

I agree. We should have enough stupid people agreeing with us and voting for us (if we plan to dominate through non-violent leadership), however, do not give them an actual say in idea-making unless they prove worthy.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers (ex: how Bush got re-elected)

Sounds liiike.....deny people control of their own future.

Surely we would be better off very carefully teaching everybody the point of this movement. So that they are in the position to know that any bad ideas they have are bad, and so only suggest any good ideas they have.

So...back to topic...~

Our best bet is to make a recuitment thread in both ED and GD...~
Here's what I have in mind....

Do you want to be popular?
Do you want to be part of something big?
Do you want to help make Gaia a better place?
We have all the right answers for you.
Join the Revolution and discover what you can to do to make the change.

((Gah....why am I feeling bad about this....o_O wink )

Perhaps affiliations with other guilds?

That way, by the guild, you have a pretty good idea of what kind of people might request to join.

It would be better, but may be a waste of our time for those "omg lyk ur goin to tak ovr teh wrld? i alredy did!!!111!!1 LOL!!!1!1one1" people. For those people, we could let them feel important, but not letting them screw everything up.

Though recruiting people in the GD would probably be better.

So here's an idea: we work together! If a darkstar member makes a thread, you should at least read it, if not partake in it.If your looking for a trade or something commerce-y, try darkstar members first.

Now, I bet your thinking "That's a brilliant idea, but how the hell will this improve recruitment?". This is how : as membership grows, members will raise to prominent status (as a group). Prominents get alot of attention which is good for PR and visibility.

Support your fellow Darkstarers ( sweatdrop ) today!

I like the whole idea of working together and all that, which is why I made the linklist thread, but as I was making the linklist I was wondering how I could make the whole commerce thing work. People posting their wares would be rather hectic and I was thinking about using the linklist as the Commerce center but I wasn't sure if it would work. Any ideas?

In South Africa, we have a campaign going to improve internal trade and the like, if your part of this initiative you put a logo somewhere on your product that signifies it's South Africanness

something like this (but using whatever logo we eventually choose)
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

of course it would have to be officially sanctioned.

We could also lock the commerce thread and only allow crew to add new entries, I'm pretty sure you can do something like that.
