Here's a thread intro borrowed from a friend.

This thread is here to help us all think a little more about our characters, be they RP characters, fanfiction characters, or anything else written creatively. Hopefully it will inspire us to think a little deeper, flesh them out, and really develop them as well as possible. It will also serve as an exercise in characterization and creative writing. You don't need to be one of the best writers out there, or even one of the worst, to get something out of this thread.
Remember, we're all here to improve.

Why?
As for the purpose; it ought to be a lot of fun, present a frequent challenge, a chance to write for the sake of writing, and, as stated, to further develop characters.

You can answer one a day, a bunch at a time, only as they appeal to you, or not at all, but the option is here. What can it hurt?

Remember, you can write as much or as little as you like, per answer, but you're only going to get as much out of this as you put into it.

Oh, ******** yes. I love you, and I love this.

(I rarely bring myself to write unless someone or something tells me what to write... ******** you motivation.)
and lol, no, i'm not that creepy, I was just really happy to suddenly be inspired to character sketch

1. Where does your character fall on an order vs. chaos spectrum?

Wilson's all about the order, man. He was a little reckless as a young adult, but then.. who wasn't? Even before the whole my-lover-exploded-in-my-arms thing, Wilson had learned that being reckless had its consequences and that structure and order were required to maintain a peaceful society and blah ******** blah.

2. Where does your character fall on a good vs. evil spectrum?

He's the director of a law enforcement and surveillance agency, so one would expect him to be a little corrupt. As he doesn't feel there's anything he can ever do to improve his own life, however, he doesn't bother with corruption or manipulation, and instead sticks to fulfilling his duty to the best of his ability.

However, he did interrogate Daniel Day for the whereabouts of the super that killed James... with his fists. That's about as evil as he's gotten.

3. Where does your character fall on a kindness vs. cruelty spectrum?

Kind of in the middle on this one. Even though Wilson's not known for being cruel or violent, even with the most dangerous of supers; like I mentioned above, the worst he's ever done (and it was very radical for him) was the beating of Day.

4. Where does your character fall on a cynicism vs. hopefulness spectrum?

If I said Wilson majored in cynicism, it'd only be inaccurate because he dropped out of college to join the Bureau.

5. In what ways does your character annoy others?

He annoys some of the more youthful characters in some of my crossovers, as he's generally depicted as the restrictive father type from their point of view. "Hey, you kids! Register your superpowers or you're ******** grounded!"

6. Make a "pet peeve" list for your character, either in general or with respect to a certain issue.

Wilson hates fags.
Wilson hates people who want his opinion.
Wilson kinda doesn't really care for religious people.
Wilson doesn't care much for world issues, either.

7. Pick an issue your character has an interest in and make a wish list from his point of view with respect to that issue.

Wilson wishes for world peace.

Uhm... to be entirely honest, Wilson despises issues of any kind. I think I'm gonna go and put that up in the pet peeves list, but in white so you have to go back and highlight it now.

Maybe before James died, he cared a bit for gay rights (no one really gives a damn about defending superhuman rights anymore anyways) but now that his lurver is gone, he has no reason to be all "GRRRR I'M GAY ******** YOU."

8. Does your character have any responsibilities he feels he can't handle? Why did he take them on? What is he doing about them?

See, Wilson's the opposite of this entirely. Wilson takes on more responsibilities than he can handle, but he's so sure that he can handle them (or at least, handle them better than whoever's responsibility it was originally) that he doesn't give a damn.

And he handles them, too.

He took them on because he's developed the mentality that he can do whatever better than people less qualified than himself. And he's right, but that has to be a bit offensive to the people who he takes over for.

9. Does your character have any psychological hang-ups where money is concerned?

Ooooooh. He smokes. A lot. And drinks a lot, too. But he's pretty well off, being from a mid-upper class family; dad was a big-name lawyer, and he's not doing too badly for himself what with being the Director of a major exec-branch organization. (lawl ty gov't class)

10. How does your character feel about different types of terrain--jungle, beaches, mountains, forest, plains, ocean, etc? Does he have a favorite and/or least favorite type? Does he associate any particularly pleasant or traumatic past events with any type of terrain?

He, ah, doesn't give a ******** about terrain.

11. A natural disaster traps your character on his way to an important destination. What does he do?

• Where was he going and why?
• What sort of disaster occurs?

He sighs and sinks himself, and maybe the crew that he's traveling with, into a portal and avoids the natural disaster entirely. Although, you'd think that teleportation would be the obvious modus of travel every time Wilson goes out on a retrieval mission, instead of taking the choppa'.

s**t, dude. I need to come up with a reason for that now. D:

Anyways... he's avoiding some sort of tornado, because they're.. uh... going to apprehend a really pissed off aerokinetic or some s**t, but he's all "nyurrr leave me aloooone" and causes a ******** tornado.

Yeah. That works, right?

12. Does your character enjoy the natural world, or is he a city boy through-and-through?

City boy. God damn, Wilson's a city boy. He wouldn't be able to get through the day at this point without a pack of menthols every couple of hours, or without his sleek sports utility vehicle. And there's nothing sexier than a gay guy in a three-piece fighting crime.

13. Does your character have a green thumb? If he doesn't, does he try to grow things anyway? How do they come out? What does he grow?

Wilson's currently trying to grow cancer in both his lungs, and they're coming up pretty nicely.

14. How does your character feel about water? Does he like to swim? Go boating? Is he afraid of the water?

He's not big on recreation. Most bitter old guys aren't.

15. Does your character have any interest in the past-- history, archaeology, anthropology, and so on?

Actually, Wilson had a vested interest in the history of law back in his college days; and even now, he always likes to research the legends of old and try to connect them to the superhuman/mutant genes.

In before Spring-Heeled Jack.

16. Does your character have any interest in the human mind and how it works?

He's not a ******** telepath. He dun care.

17. What sorts of dreams does your character typically have?

Shitty ones, usually ending in death, disaster, and all sorts of stuff that he's accustomed to.

But since he doesn't think they're precognitive in any way, he just wakes up, smokes, and falls back asleep.

18. How does your character feel about the concepts of fate and destiny?

If Wilson was generic enough, he'd feel something cliché like "fate is a cruel mistress." Instead, he feels that he personally has no significance, importance or anything, and thus is just trying to help other people until he dies. Which he's fast-forwarding by chain smoking, but... whatever.

19. Under ordinary circumstances, what would your character consider to be a crisis?

When he needs help.

God forbid.

20. Are there any beverages or foods that your character insists on having every day?

Alcohooooool. He prefers vodkas; in particular, White Lotus vodka. He picked this particular brand as his favorite because he "likes the name," but otherwise is indifferent in his tastes. One might suggest that he only drinks to get drunk, and they'd be right.

21. If someone told your character today that he was destined to fulfill a great prophecy, how would he react?

He'd laugh them off until he started coughing - so, not long.

22. How would (or did) your character handle the deaths of his parents or siblings?

They haven't died yet, but at this point, he doesn't really care about any one person.

23. Is there anyone in his family your character refuses to speak to or have any contact with? If not, is there anyone else in his family who refuses to speak to or have any contact with someone else, and if so, how does your character feel about this?

Er... not really. His family is on good terms with him, and they're on good terms with everyone else. Happy family life.

24. Is there anyone whose welfare your character feels responsible for?

His team for that day, of course; and the general population of the United States of America.

25. How strong is your character's sense of responsibility, and what kinds of things trigger it?

He's so responsible that it's irresponsible.

No, really. See #8.

26. If your character saw someone drop a large sum of money and knew that he could probably take it without anyone noticing, what would he do?

Report it to the local authorities, hurrrrr.

27. Is there anyone whose forgiveness your character desires? What for?

James, for not moving quickly enough to save him.

28. Has your character ever hurt someone and secretly felt good about it?

Yes. God yes. Deep down, Wilson really really wants to take his frustrations out on Thomas. Nothing sexual or anything like that, just a nice, senseless, brutal beating.

29. Does your character carry or possess a weapon of any type?

He carries with him a Desert Eagle. The gun originally had some backstory to it, but I decided to throw it out; the only reason I made it that particular gun is because I think that particular gun is ******** know, I fail.

30. The table is set for a romantic meal. Who set the table, and with whom is your character dining? What's the occasion?

James, and James. The occasion is their anniversary, and Wilson's having a good dream for once.

31. Describe your character's soulmate.

James Martin, thirty years of age on his death. Sleek, dark hair; a somewhat long face, with dark brown eyes and small eyeglasses. Much leaner than Wilson, though not to the point of skinny-emo-homo. Just skinny-homo.

Very timid and quiet; a bookworm. Tactical. Had less supportive parents; his father hit him for saying he liked Wilson, when they were both five.

bawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww poooooor wilson ;_____;

1. What does your character's name mean to her?
It's a name.

2. It's January second. Where is your character today and what is she doing?
Most likely, Jenna will be out in the forest, training.

3. If your character could change one physical detail about herself, what would it be?
Nothing, she's happy with herself the way she is. Though maybe her size, she's rather small.

4. Describe your character's hairstyle in detail. Why did she choose it? How much does she care about it?
Dark blonde hair, bangs covering her eyes only a bit, reaching down to about her waist. Sometimes caried in a ponytail. She chose it because she likes feeling the wind in her hair. She cares about it in an average way, not extremely much, but also not not at all.

5. What is your character's favorite physical activity?
Sparring matches with Alex, a friend's character.

6. When was the last time your character climbed a tree? Why and under what circumstances? If she has
never climbed one, why not?

Ummm.... that would have to be as a child, around the age of five or six? Just for fun I guess.

7. Your character comes face-to-face with her worst enemy. What is her first reaction?
Putting up a shield around her magically and bombarding her enemy with attacks.

8. What is your character's least favorite physical activity?
She doesn't really have one.

Sunny weather. Best weather to train in.

10. What is your character's favorite season?

what would it depict?

Her and Alex together, before he left her.

12. Does your character keep any pets?
No, she only travels with her daughter.

13. A very large centipede runs across your character's leg. What does she do?
She'd most likely scream her lungs out first and then blast it off with some magic spell.

14. What does your character eat for breakfast?
Hmmm...... whatever she can find (she's currently on the run.)

15. What is your character's least favorite weather?
Pure icy cold days.

16. What is your character's fondest childhood memory?
First kiss with Alex back in her hometown in the human world.

• If your character were in the habit of keeping a journal, what good memories could she go back
and re-visit through that journal? Would she do so often?
She'd most likely re-visit every scene in which she met and kissed Alex, considering she loves him even after he left her. She'd probably do it much too often. He's like an addiction to her.

17. What is your character's favorite piece of artwork?
Nothing in particular really. Maybe a piece of work from her daughter?

• Describe any pieces of artwork found in your character's home or office.
She doesn't have an office or a home currently.

18. What is your character's least favorite season?
Winter. Too cold.

19. Someone asks your character to describe her family. How does she answer?
"Well, my dad is gone, he left, my mom... has a problem with alcohol, she died by now as well... and my brother died too, in a fight. None of them were too happy with most of my decisions in life though."

20. Is your character a morning person, a night owl, or something else entirely?
Night owl. Jenna hates getting up.

21. What is your character's least favorite color?

22. What does the color orange make your character think of? How does it make her feel?
Nothing in particular, sunsets maybe, those make her feel warm and fuzzy inside.

23. Your character walks into her home and sees blood on the floor. What is her first reaction or thought?
Please let Luna be alive. She'll fear for her daughter being dead.

• Why is there blood on the floor? Whose is it?
Werewolves attacked. It's her daughter's blood.

• What happens next?
Jenna will break down crying, then most likely do something very stupid.

24. Describe the outside of your character's home.
A lot of green, a lot of plants, trees, nature... She likes it that way.

25. Describe a typical birthday for your character.
Not much of a celebration, she'll probably be in a rather bad mood, because Alex isn't there to celebrate with her and because every birthday reminds her of a few years ago where he left her on just that day.

26. What mythological figure best personifies your character?
Elves aren't mythological creatures are they? IF not, then I'd say... a fairy maybe?

27. What is your character's least favorite animal?
Wolves. Werewolves to be exact. Very bad experiences with them

28. A law enforcement officer stops your character for a minor violation.
How does she react?

She'll probably try and talk her way out of that and if that doesn't work, she'll use her authority =P

29. What does the color red make your character think of? How does it make her feel?
IT makes her think of blood and death. Things that happened around Alex. Makes her feel depressed.

30. A stranger makes a crude comment to your character. How does she react?
Never insult Jenna. She'd probably attack the stranger.

31. What is your character's favorite animal?
Cat. Because they can easily be tamed and can help cheer her up.
