Hm... I can't say I completely agree. You sort of showed up at a bad time. Master Knives gets like that every few months, but it's generally a great guild to be in. That being said, welcome to Culling the Herd.

So he PMSes every few months? His cycle's a little off, isn't it?
I just don't really see that as an excuse. We all have bad days, but weeks like that? As the leader of a guild? It doesn't fly. I don't care if it's every few years. If you're in a leadership position of any variety, you're supposed to be a little more reasonable than that.
He gives me crazy Fred Phelps vibes, with the whole, we don't want your kind here, you can't disagree with us, I'm conservative and christian and all you atheists can bite me.
I don't take people generalizing well, especially when it comes to someones religious leanings or political views. It's a sign of someone who's entirely too up their own a** and narrow minded for their own good.

Look, it's not the members of SD I have a problem with. I just can't believe the intolerance of differing opinions there. I'm an ED reg. The idea that someone would ban others for disagreeing with them is just silly and childish to me.
I understand that rules are in place for a reason. A great guild has to be organized and douchebaggery should be discouraged. I understand telling people not to post in hard to read colors, or using good language rules.
But there is a huge difference in being a guild leader and being a despot.
And MK bordered on tyrannical.

Look, this is really hard since I've made a good number of friends in the guild, and now I'm sort of caught in the middle of two warring factions. I'm going to try to hang back a little bit until you all get this settled. Someone PM me when people aren't so pissed about Synamic Darkness anymore.

Chill, mate, no one's pissed about the guild or your friends. Just two (?) of the leaders. If you want to defend them, if they're your friends, by all means, try or step back.
If they're not the friends you refer to, ignore it. There's no reason to defend him, for the sake of the guild as a whole. We respect what he was trying to do, just not how.

Well, Master Knives really has done a large part of making that guild what it is, but I think he takes too much credit. While I do respect him, it seems like Corpse Grinder has put most of the work into that guild. I don't really think any of the moderators other than MK really fly off the handle like that.

I haven't seen anyone but MK fly off the handle. Unfortunately, I was/am under the impression that that guild is largely represented by Master Knives.
It reminds me of the old ED Enforcers guild. They started with good intentions on cleaning up the Extended Discussion, but then it became a club of elitist talking about how great they are. They did nothing but have huge e-peen contests, and talked down to everyone who wasn't a member.
It seems like Synamic Darkness is the same way. Honestly, Advertising your guild as "smarter than the average Gaian" only makes you seem far more of an a** than anything else.
This is of course, in addition to the ridiculous rules.

I haven't seen them fly off the handle, per se, but I've seen them defend actions that there's really no excuse for.
That only makes me think that they're in agreement and feel the same way.
Don't go along with something you don't agree with just because your superior says it's law. It comes across as sheepish, sucking up, or being just as bad as the person you're following.
If someone criticizes someone who's wrong, don't ban them to prevent them from saying it, address the issue. If you think that you're right, defend yourself, don't run away from the issue. If you're not right, do something about it. Suck it up, swallow your pride, and accept a little advice now and again. That's all anyone's asking. Reconsider. Compromise.
People change, things change, if you don't - you'll break.

He deleted me out of nowhere... I'm still pretty pissed about it, but I had thought that the guild was just deleted instead. Then I remembered that it was a private guild, which was why I couldn't find it and also why I had thought he had deleted it. So I'm glad I was invited to a non-facist guild where someone wouldn't delete me after one post. sweatdrop

All right. I own my own guild. I only ban people for inactivity and breaking rules. (I'm updating my inactivity policie, though.) It is completely inappropriate, in my opinion as a guild owner, for a guild owner to ban people just because s/he is having a bad day, PMS, a period, etc. Taking anger out on those who don't deserve it (those who abide by the rules) is completely out of line.
