Welcome!
Now some of you may have read Callahan's Crosstime Saloon by Spider Robinson, and some of you may not. It doesn't matter, you're all welcome to join the RP
Basically, it's a book about a bar. It's actually three books (Time Travelers Strictly Cash and Callahan's Secret are the second two.) but they are all about the same bar.
Now in this bar anything can happen. And I mean anything. In the course of the three books, they've run into two aliens, Hitler, a 200 some - odd year old woman, and a talking dog, to name a few.

The Bar
Now this bar is well lit, has a dart board and a chalk board on one wall. There is no mirror. Instead, there are motivational quotes and memorable punday winners. Above the door is a counterclockwise clock. Every drink costs a dollar, and only one dollar bills are accepted. If you return the glass, you can visit the cigar box at the end of the bar and collect your fifty cents. However, you can smash your empty, but in that case, you don't get your fifty cents back.
What makes this bar unique is that there is a very large fireplace. Now for fifty cents, you can toe the chalk line, make a toast (the toast is mandatory), and smash your empty glass into the fire.
Now upon making your toast, you can elaborate, or just leave it at that. No one will pry as to the meaning of your toast. Or, if they do, they'll end up getting knocked out by Fast Eddie.
Now, certain days of the week are special. (I may have gotten these slightly wrong, please correct me if I have)
Tuesday is Punday. A category is selected and the top punner has his tab refunded.
Thursday is tall tales night. Again, all tall tales must fall under a certain category. Each tall tale has a moral, and the moral should have a pun in it. Winner has his tab refunded.
Friday is Riddling night. The winning riddler from the previous week is the new Riddle Master. Every riddle solved correctly is a drink off of your tab and onto the Riddle Master's. Every riddle unsolved is a drink off of the Riddle Master's tab.
Dart games happen pretty much whenever. Every challenge is a bottle of the champions' choice. Score is kept track on the chalkboard.

The Regulars
NPCs (Anybody can RP these as neccessary or if you've read the books and want to RP them as your main, PM me.)
Callahan~The owner of the bar and bartender. He'll collect your keys if your too drunk to drive and he always knows when you are.
Fast Eddie~ pianist, and the person who'll knock you out if you pry
Jake~ guitarist and singer. He grieves the loss of his wife and daughter, who died in a car crash. He had wanted to save a few dollars, so replaced the brakes himself. First trip out, stopping at a stop sign, the brakes failed.
Mickey Finn~ he's the resident alien. He's an escaped slave from the 'Cockroaches.' He was a scout, and was going to be ordered to blow up the earth. However, he got drunk and passed out, therefore never receiving the order. However, the Cockroaches may show up one day, looking for their scout.
Ptor? I've got to check on his name. ~ He's your taxi driver if your too drunk to drive yourself. He's also an alcoholic vampire. He drives you home and you won't have a hangover the next day. Common courtesy is to feed him breakfast and drive him to Callahan's. He only drinks water at the bar.
Doc Watson~ he's a doctor, often showing up late because of various medical emergancies.

The Plot
It's just a normal day/night at Callahan's.
Normal meaning:
Hitler could show up
or
A time traveler could come, looking for help saving a woman from sorrow
or
A talking dog could walk in, playing ventrilquist for his mute two legged companion
or
the Cockroaches could show up, looking for Mickey
or
A telepath could show up
or
A telekenetic could show up
Like I said, anything can happen in Callahan's. Any takers?

Attention: Any age character can join, HOWEVER Since this is set in America, I ask that characters under the age of 21 not drink. This shouldn't be much of a problem since any drink can be ordered for the same price.

I haven't read the book it's based on, but if I may? EebilAge: Unknown, could be anywhere between 15 and 25. Looks about 16, however. Species: Human... maybe. Hair: Very dark purple, mid-length Eyes: Deep purple, large and quite... shiny. Dress: Royal-purple velvet top hat that appears to have been run over several times and then popped out again, shiny red nylon vest over white t-shirt, dark red trousers, royal-purple cape, black Cuban heels, white gloves. Has a black Fender Bass V slung over his back. Description: Bass guitarist for the strange band 'Zombie Pop Rocks' (or 'Zombie and the Pop Rocks', depending on who you ask), Eebil was possibly the only normal member to join. The other three, Zombie, Stripes and Alphonse, soon exerted the force of their weirdness upon him, however, and he can now be considered far from normal. He sounds very interesting.
However, I do ask that if he's under 21 that he not drink. I guess I should add that somewhere.

I'm just used to the drinking age being 18, is all. If that's the rules of the bar, he'll follow them.

I'm used to the drinking age being 16, but this is an American setting.
Goddamn, I've got the best timing for stuff like this.
We've got two options.
a. We can start the RP in a week or so, then put it on hold for Christmas/New years
or
b. We can just keep the recruiting thread open till I get back from vacation.
What do you think?

I just realized I'd never posted my character. (Mostly cause I make them up as I go...)
Eugenides (Gen for short)
Age: Looks to be in her late 20s
Appearance: Long black hair, tied back into a braid. She's got blue eyes and wears a hodge podge of all colors. Typically a mix of orange, purple, and green. She wears a broken watch on her left wrist. It doesn't look like a normal watch, but if asked, that's what she calls it.
Description: Gen is actually very quiet. She stands out from the others in her choice of colors. Once a year, she gets quite drunk, always on the same day. (March 3rd). One toast could completely unravel her, but it has yet to be toasted.
