So, even though I am a classical musician, for some reason I just cannot seem to find piano music interesting. I can tell the different between different genres, moods, and things that the piano is trying to express, but it is all just dull to me.

What do you guys think about piano music? Do you see it as good chord filler or actually legit music by itself?

In other news: I'm working up to get a piano on Gaia. Any help towards this cause would be greatly appreciated.

I've been playing piano for several years now, and I share your gripes--about classical music, at least. Jazz piano, though, is in an entirely different world for me. I think it's beautiful to listen to, and extremely engaging to play. Not dull at all, either, if you've got a good score.

I do think pianos, especially in modern music where other instruments are involved, don't get a spotlight, but they don't always deserve one. It's a wonderful instrument, but accompanied with lyrics and other instruments it can sound... wrong. Like excess filler. But it can be used really well.

It depends on who's playing, and the type of music. Yeah.

It can be a downer but I suppose it depends on the music and what you put into it. Any song or sty;e can be boring and a dread to play if that's what it reads to you. To me it can be a bass or stable line or songful by itself.

I'm a piano player myself. I think it sounds beautiful, and a hell of a lot better than a harpsichord or any other piano-like monstrosity.
Regina Spektor plays the piano brilliantly and I think it adds no end to her music.

I'll admit though that some pieces for the piano are overly fussy and can take from it.

i think it mostly depends of the style of music your playing =/

I love piano music, but that's probably because my mother played when I was growing up, my best friend plays, and one of my closest guy friends plays =3 I'm trying to learn right now, but it's a bit difficult with no free time and no one to teach me sweatdrop I love listening to the piano pieces in music, though, especially in more modern songs.

I thinks pianos sound amazing! Especially grand pianos.

It's the player who really makes the music work, though, and if he or she can't express themselves then it probably will sound dull. Perhaps try listening to other composers/players/eras?

I actually love hearing Piano music.
There's one that is my ultamite favorite it plays in an anime called 'Naruto'
The Piano song is called 'Sadness and Sorrow' there is also another verison that is called 'Grief and sorrow' that is was better. There both really sad tunes but they're both really great tunes

I generally find that I don't really like piano music unless it's angry/sad and very minor such as Beethoven's 7th or something like that.

piano music can be beautiful. but yes, it can be boring too. you just gotta find something that you really like and go with it.
