Here in this forum I want ideas for new creatures to help populate this wide world of magic. Be creative! Make the creatures unique, and different. I have a creature with little crystals all over its body that absorb magic..its awesome. Have at it guys!

I've had this idea for a while and keep forgetting to put it down. We should have a few creatures who absorb magic in such a way that anyone in proximity to them can't use it. That would be fun. Also, there could be a certain element within the world of Gi that does the same thing, though it would be super rare. This element would be a novelty, almost unheard of. Or maybe just one legendary weapon, or something.

That is all.

There is a character in my favorite series, The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, that has a medallion that won't let magic directly affect him. They are still able to pick things up and throw them at him and whatnot, but it can't be used directly on him. It is a very complicated story of how he got the medallion, but it is the only known one of it's kind in the world. Maybe even have a chest piece or shield that can do the same thing....

As far as creatures go though, I will provide a large list as long as it is noted that these are my creations and many will be used in the novel I am creating. Right now that list is small, but my bestiary will probably have near 500 to 1000 creatures by the time I am done and I am willing to share each one under the above stated conditions.

Very well, we will state that the creatures are of your own. Just post them in the creature forum in the world.

Ahh, another Robert Jordan fan. About time. wink My idea for magic-absorbing creatures was based on the Grey Men, in fact. I think that was their name. Anyway, that's exactly what I was thinking, except these magic-absorbing items maybe don't let the wearer know when magic is being used nearby. Just for a twist on the original idea.

(Or! To be completely random! There could be a pair of earrings, one absorbing magic and the other indicating magic being used. That would be a fun not-exactly-weapon-relic-thing to have around)

I was really thinking about not just a single monster or enemy, but a huge guild of these badies. A powerful sydicate of haman, elven, or dwarven (these three only) magic using baddies who are just as deadly in physical combat called "The Chokers."

They are so called because of the two signature characteristics held by the guild. A thick leather strap around the neck of every member, color coded by rank. The other signature is how their victems are found. These Battle mages use their magic in the most destructive ways possible, and once they are done with an opponent (or even durring thier battle) they will harm the opponents lungs.

They hold four elements sacred, fire, water, wind, and earth.
- Fire will use their magic to ignite the carbon dioxide and oxygen entering and exiting the lungs, buring the fleshy organs from the inside.
- Water will use their magic to pull the liquid out of the blood and fill the lungs to the point of bursting. This also negatively effects the blood flow of the body.
- Wind will use thier magic to stop the air from entering or exiting the lungs, causing asphyxiation.
- Earth will use their magic to fill the opponents lungs with dust and debris kicked up during the fight, causing mucosa of the lungs to dry and become worthless.
The element a choker uses is determined by a single horizontal stripe of color related to the element around the center of the choker.

A Hirarcy of Leader > High Magi > Battle Magi > High Slave healers > Slave healers > High pets > pets. The existance of a leader to "The Chokers" is only rumor, it seems impossible that there could be someone that powerful in existance.

It is rare that even a High Magi is ever seen, through stories and songs it is said that a single High Magi can kill over a hundred men, and small sized groups (3-5) of High Magi can destroy entire armies. These are warriors of legend, I dentified only by the golden rings hanging from their leather collars. They are chained to High Slave healers, and High pets.

Battle Magi are the most common figures to see of "The Chokers." These are the ones that make up the brunt of the dark guild. Even their numbers a little, there are said to be only 1000 in the entirety of the world, and are never/seldom seen in groups larger than 3 Magi. On record, the highest number of casualties taken while fighting a single Battle Magi is twenty-two men. They wear a thick, black, leather Choker and are Chained to Slave healers, and pets.

Slave healers and High slave healers are one of the two people bound to a Battle or High Magi. They are proficiant or master healers who are foced into servitude when their powers are initially discovered. They wear thick, white, leather chokers, with a thick chain connecting them to their Battle or High Magi. They are trained to be stout fighters, but their key objective is to serve their Magi loyal and keep him alive as long as they can.

Pets and High pets are Members of the Beastile race drugged and influenced by magic since their birth to be insane, animalistic warriors. The Chokers favor canine, reptilian, Ursain (bear) beastiles, for their strength, and power. They are magically bound to their Magi, and will die as their magi die. They will fight loyal for the magi, and cannot be swayed otherwise. They wear thick, metal collars, and are chained to their Battle or High magi.

Chokers travel in teams, a team consisting of a Magi, a Slave healer, and pet. Chokers wear heavy black armor, that is magically grafted to their skin, and can never be removed. Connected to their elbows are long chains binding them to a healer and pet, the pet on the left arm, the healer on the right. These chains' length are determined by what ever the Magi wills them, from one foot long, to an unlimited distance. These chains become immateral to the Magi and his two chained slaves, making free ranging combat quite capable between the three, but any other person touching them will be effected as though it did exist. Healers wear light, white armor grafted to their skin, and pets wear metal plates, that are removeable.

Chokers are reveared and feared for theier power and reputation. They are racist to all races lower than them (read above that only human, elven, and dwarven males are allowed into the guild, though slaves can be other genders, healers typically female, pets typically male). A single Choker is said to be able to run an entire village, and this has happened on many an occasion.

Many think that the Magi only uses magic, and relies on the healer to keep him alive, and the pet to attack their enemies at a closer range, but this is untrue. Magi are powerful warriors, profficient in blades, axes, clubs, and heavy pole arms, as well as being knoledgeable in heavy seige weapons. Even in a no-magic zone, or against a magical absorbing item, monster, or spell, they can kill many challenger. The Slave healers are trained to be profficient at bows, crossbows, bola, throwing daggers/axes/stars, and knives. While pets rely on their claws and teeth, they still have the sence to use a knife, dagger, or club when it's availible to them.

I have a creature, but it will take a long explanation as to…their powers. They are called Letherians.
Letherians look completely human with the exception of set of two black streaks under their right eye. These can be straight, or curved or split on separate directions it makes no difference. To humans it would resemble a tattoo, and some humans might get a tattoo to try and mimic that they are this creature. For they seem to be a dwindling race, and hold great power when advanced. They also age slower then humans and the oldest known Letherian was just short of 970 years of age.

The difference that they use a natural power I have named the ‘Black Techniques’. They are a system of birth used powers that resemble the human black arts in ability. Only there are physical measures that must be taken, and for some of them these measures are extremely dangerous. No other race has ever been able to use these powers they belong only to the Letherians.

I have a list of the different powers of the Letherian race, however I will only list the fire based materials on this post.

Shade Flame- A flame that can be conjured to the side of a basketball; it is made of varying shades of black leading to grey, rather then blue leading to reddish. In order to fully use this Letherians must have a tattoo of a pentagram with the symbol for shadow in the middle, and flame just to the right of the top point. This tattoo must be located on the top of the right shoulder blade.

Febrile- A more intense version of Shade Flame the Letherian has control of the spread of fire within a three mile radius, and can expand the flame to such lengths from themselves. The flames will only go about one mile in height. Along with the previous tattoos the Letherian seeking to control this blaze will need to also undergo a ritual scarring of the Letherian Language on their wrists. Somewhat of a knife made bracelet if you will.

Ardent- The ultimate fire based ability of The Letherians can spread Fire in any way possible for up to five miles out and three miles up. Can manipulate the fire without sight of it, or feel of it. Lehterians can start a fire from any substance including plain earth. The scarring of the previous ability must be continued fully up both arms to the elbow.

If this creature is used, then I will lend the full list of capabilities including the other elements, sand, glass, seed, and several other versions of things they can learn.

Well, I run a roleplaying site off-the-ways, and we've come up with a handful of original creatures/monsters/whatever you want to call them, though I dunno if they're the same ones you seem to want right now. I'll post them to see if you'd like to use any, but they're still 'copyrighted' (to put it loosely), I suppose. No problems with them being used for the guild, of course.

Myopic - a winged creature that looks almost like a giant eyeball. This creature can temporarily blind anyone who stares directly into their eye almost instantly.

Palsy - this creature appears to be almost a cross between something like a Gecko in shape and something like an Alligator in size. It has thick bones and scales, and so has a high defense, but its tail gives it a formidable attack unless you're quick enough to get out of the way. Its fangs secrete a poison that slowly paralyzes anyone it manages to bite.

Peccant - this creature is similar to the Palsy in that it poisons its enemies, but this poison acts like a normal poison, rather than paralyzying its victim. It's shape is similar to that of a scorpion.

Zeep - this creature looks like a large mouse, and hypnotizes its enemies, putting them to sleep if they cannot escape or stop it quickly enough. It normally doesn't attack, but instead likes to raid the pockets of its victims once they fall asleep.

Senke - this creature can absorb and reflect magic that is casted in the area around it, therefore making it near-impossible to hit it with a spell. It also cannot be harmed physically except for when it is absorbing or releasing a spell, upon which it becomes solid. It looks like a floating blob with a small tail, and cannot hold more than one spell at a time, though can absorb and cast in rapid succession if necessary.

There are probably a few others that could be used, but these are the ones that aren't simply giant spiders or trolls.

If that's the case where should we put the other ideas? Such as The Chokers, or Letherians, or what not (and technically isn't every living thing considered a creature?)

This post will be edited at a later time with some actual monster ideas

Eww...you brought back one of my own little nightmares I'd thought I'd forgotten about.
IT has no name. It's this uber harmless, and adorable, little ball of fluff. Looks like bits of white fluffly cloud stuck together in a small ball with big blue eyes and little pink feet and fingerless hand-type fin things. It's bounces around and makes squeaky noises, totally lovable looking.
Here's the rub, the little beast's a living blackhole. ;_; I literally had a nightmare about this thing, it sucked me up and I kept being stretched out and out and my body felt like particles that I could stick my hand through. I screamed but my voice was just a faint echo being sucked up into its mouth with my body.
*shivers* The character in my story are scared you-know-whatless by this ultra rare beasty. I can't remember, but I think somebody kept it as a pet and sicked it on those who stood against her or something like that.
That's my idea, for what little it's worth, not much though. *uber rambler*

Well, I expect I'm exceptionally late in the game in this thread but...

There was this one type of creature I read of in a Tamara Pierce novel, I think they called it a skinner... They were vaguely humanoid in shape and size, and completely gray and textureless.

However, anything the touched, they instantly seemed to...almost turn inside out. And the texture and color of whatever it was they'd caught was shown briefly on their own body.

Those ones could kill plants and pollute water though, whereas I'd think if we were going to put anything like that in game, it'd probably be best to limit it to killing animals and humanoids, as well as limiting it to touching them with a purpose, or with their 'hands' or something, as opposed to just touching in general.

A bony black body, six long arms clawing into the ground to propell it in any chosen direction, and nothing more than a pale hovering orb keeping its face near its body. Its face...a white mask, plain-faced. It searches in the dark. It hunts in the dark. It feeds in the dark. Where it's dark, it is.

"...immune to all physical, arcanic, spiritual, even mental forces...child moaning in agony, though the mask doesn't move. Is it a boy? It...the physical world easily. It rips them apart or claws such deep gashes the soldiers bleed to death, if they survive the attack at all...mostly children. However, it sometimes hunts adults. What motivates it? Does it even feed? ...takes them away. Possibly to a place where it can actually feed on them? It's lack of a real physical body may not allow it to...only exists in that place? The world of dreams...of nightmares? Yes...I'll call it a Dream Stalker."
~Vehga Collection, Report 103, Dream Stalker.

"...to a labrynth! It takes them there and plays hide-and-go-seek? How did she find...children are taken there and adults become children when they enter. They loose any strengths, magic, or abilities they had. They only retain their memories? ...hide from it. Most running, really. If it finds them, it changes them? ...more of them. How does it do it? How does it make them into Dream Stalkers as well? ...can't kill it in the physical world, it doesn't exist. But, in that world maybe. Killing it might even kill all of those that it made! Such a find, should it be true, would mean..."
~Vehga Collection, Report 103 B, Dream Stalker.

"Yes, it can be killed. All those it makes die as well, clearing it's labrynth of its kind. However, the one who kills it becomes its replacement. ...lost someone dear for this information. I feel for her but it's helped us greatly. She believes so as well..."
~Vehga Collection, Report 103 E, Dream Stalker.

"I can't continue this. I won't research it anymore. I may be selfish, but doesn't every parent deserve to mourn for his child? My son...I'll put him out of his misery. He'll come for me. He still needs me. They are driven by their child-like needs and desires. They may not realize what they're doing. They're just children..."
~Vehga Collection, Report 103 G, Dream Stalker.

Eight grand and blood red wings, tinged in the deepest of blacks, expand beyond the boundries of its bare white body, so humanlike, reaching to engulf the world in its dark embrace. Long crimson nails, razor sharp, and eyes of like color piercing all the veils of sanity and will to gaze at one's frail humanity. In the wake of these hovering beings, darkness trails in deep rolling waves to devour the living. Beware of their glare. A hypnotic trance will leave one surrenduring their soul without a second thought.

"...everyone! I'm next, I know it. I can't run anymore...it passes though walls, and magical barriers only slow it. That thing absorbed any magic Evrah used against it! ...Dietz like a ragdoll. He was so strong and fast...tore them apart without even moving its wiry body! It just hovered there, looking at her as her limbs were pulled in every direction and...can't run anymore. It knows where I am. Is it really an angel? Is it a demon? Or is something else...I can hear it. It sings in my head...a soft but deep ringing, like a crystaline voice. I can't focus...barely staying awake. Those things it summoned...it just lifted its hand a hold opened in the air. Those things it summoned are beating at the wall. The runes are blinking, fading. The wards can't hold it. So tired...so tired. The old children's stories about them said they sucked the blood of the living and ferried the dead to the other world. But they were never supposed to leave that other plane, never supposed to enter out world. The runes..." ~Excerpt from Veirroh Bah's Journal
~Vehga Collection, Report 47 'Blood Seraphs'

*About all I'm puting into a 'potential' creature. Might do more if it gets accepted.*
