Right, so technically speaking he couldn't be there. And he shouldn't have been there. They were still in the middle of the war, after all. And HE happened to be one of the commanders. But some things were sometimes just a bit more important. Yeah. And he was nervous. He scratched the back of his neck and took in a deep breath before he would ring the doorbell. He hoped that it would be Ruri to open and NOT Raleigh.
Then again, he was the great and awesome Flashcharge! He could fight Solarduct and LIVE, so WHY would he be scared of a teenager?!
Heh.
Flashcharge was dressed in his casual clothes instead of his conspicious superhero outfit. He wore dark blue jeans and a light orange and blue patterned long-sleeved shirt that really made his blue eyes stand out. Some sunglasses were perched in his hair. He also wore a bit of the cologne he knew Ruri liked. But it wasn't as if he was considerate of her! No! He LIKED that smell HIMSELF! Yeah! Denial's the way to go and it's more than just that river from that place he had just come from.
Thomas wasn't wearing any wintergarments but didn't appear to be cold. As a matter of fact, he was very well tanned, revealing he was either an avid sunbather or just someone who happened to be fighting a war in the middle of the desert all day long.
He had picked out a few presents too. A pretty (and expensive) necklace for Ruri and a (hah!) Flashcharge action figure for Raleigh (the thought of that still made him smirk), and he hadn't known what to pick for little Hannah, so he had just brought her a stuffed hippo.
Gah -- he was SO nervous! He quickly rang the doorbell, fidgeting all the while and really making the effort to NOT run like mad. However, when the door would be opened, he'd appear calm and collected and would flash a confident grin at whomever would open the door.

Lucky for Thomas, Raleigh was playing chef for the day and really didn’t have time to go answer the door because this sauce needed to be stirred right now. Hannah was sitting in a corner of the kitchen, playing with a pile of cookie dough she had been given and making an extremely big mess. Yasuo sat protectively nearby; making sure his charge never started crawling into the line of Raleigh’s busy work.
So it Ruri who opened the door, dressed in a red and white stripy dress, and a piece tinsel placed festively in her hair. She said it made her look cute and displayed her love of the holiday season. Raleigh just said it looked slutty. She would have banned him from dinner, but since he was the one making it, she decided to overlook the insult.
Ruri shivered a little as the cold air from outside gusted in. She opened the door wide and stared out at the person on the step, who was giving her a wide grin and looked very dashing. She stared, and then stared at bit more before finally giving an ear-piercing squeal. After of minute complete stillness she threw herself at him, locking her arms around his neck.
“What the hell is going on?!” Raleigh came running, brandishing a wooden spoon but stopped short, his worried expression becoming one of mild disgust. “Oh, it’s you.” Rolling his eyes as Ruri gave the super a happy kiss he trudged back to the kitchen.
“Come inside. It’s freezing out here.” Ruri wasn’t going to ask why or how or if he was allowed, he was here and the rest didn’t matter.

Flashcharge couldn't help but fidget slightly as Ruri stared and stared and didn't say anything. Just when he was about to hesitantly suggest he'd leave again, she let out an ear splitting squeel and then jumped into his arms, which he all too gladly wrapped around her. It was with even more fervour and enthusiasm he returned her kiss, his arms tightening around her waist protectively.
"Not that it bothers me," he flashed a grin at Ruri and walked inside, his arm still around her waist. Hah! It felt good to hold her again.
Not that he'd EVER admit THAT, though.
"How have you been?" he asked. He was looking her over, looking quite approving. "My, you're looking as hot as ever, Ruri," he smirked.

Ruri had missed him… a lot. She clung to him as they walked inside, the grin never once leaving her face. Family should always be together for Christmas. Once they were in she ushered him to the lounge room, where a large brightly lit tree stood proudly in the middle of the room. “We’ve been-“
“Take your shoes off in the hallway! And if he’s going to be eating with us and playing with Ai he had better wash his hands first!” Raleigh voice came ringing out from the kitchen, clearly annoyed.
“You keep quiet!” Ruri shouted back and then cleared her throat. “I’ve been good. Wonderful now.” She preened a little at his compliment. “I thought I looked pretty good too. Not bad after a kid.” She winked at him and the clapped her hands together. “That reminds me. Where is the little tyke? Ra-”
“Yeah, I’ve got her.” Raleigh stalked in a plopped a messy and happily squealing Hannah on the ground.

"I'm...glad for that," Thomas smiled sincerely at Ruri. "Uh...brought ya something..." He pulled out a small package that was wrapped in the giftpaper of one of the top jewelry lines. He seemed to be half embarrassed as he did so and didn't meet Ruri's eyes.
When Hannah was deposited on the floor he didn't seem to know what to do for a moment, but then he came over, leaving Ruri to unwrap the package, and sat down on the floor too, opposite of Hannah.
"Hi Hannah. How are you?" He seemed very unused to it and didn't dare to touch her, slightly fearful.

“Ooo!” Ruri gave him a quick kiss and then sat down on the couch to unwrap her gift. Raleigh stood for a moment in the doorway, an overprotective brother, and then disappeared to make sure nothing had burnt in his absence.
Hannah was waving a hand around, staring at the sticky bits of dough stuck there. She turned to stare at Thomas sat down near her. Big blue eyes blinked and then wrinkled up at the corner as she smiled and giggled.
“’Lo.” She said in a bright happy voice and then showed him her hand. “Loo’!”
There was another squeal from the couch as the present was finally opened. Then Ruri was draped across FC’s shoulders lovingly. “Thankyou.” She nuzzled his cheek and then held the gorgeous piece of jewelry up for Hannah to see. “Look what mummy got!”

Thomas smiled at her and gently touched her hand. "That's nice, Ai. What's that? Did Ra make that for yo--"
He was interrupted when Ruri draped around his shoulders. He couldn't help but laugh. "You like it then?" he asked and then playfully grabbed Ruri to pull onto his lap and kissed her playfully again. "You pick her up, Ruri," he told her, still not daring it himself and avoiding every word that involved 'my' or 'our daughter'.

Reaching up Ai attempted to grab the shiny object but Ruri was pulled away into Thomas’ lap before she could grasp it. “Me!” She demanded, but was ignored. Crawling forward she decided she wanted a hug as well.
“I sure do.” Ruri settled in his lap happily, returned the kiss and then placing the necklace around her neck. Tilting her chin she showed off to him. “It’s beautiful.” At his request she chuckled. Sliding away she knelt at his side and then she grabbed Hannah under the arms. With a grin placed her in Thomas’ lap.
“I pick her up all the time. It’s your turn.” She joked. Hannah gave a happy squeal and clutched at her fathers top. Ruri cringed. “Oh, dirty hands. Sorry. Here, I’ll go get her washed up.”

"Nah," Thomas shook his head. "YOU make it look beautiful." Whoops. That sounded just a bit too sincere and caring. He smiled sheepishly at her and then blinked and quite nearly flinched away from Hannah.
"Er..." What was he supposed to do NOW? He sat very still for a moment and then very carefully put his arm around her, to keep her steady.
"That's quite alright, Ruri," he told her quietly, silently observing Hannah. Was it just him or that she look like him? It was slightly unnerving to see his own eyes staring up at him in the face of a small girl. He couldn't help but smile at her. Wow. His daughter. That was...odd... to grasp, to say the least.
He sighed deeply, very much confused about everything he was feeling.

It wasn’t often that Ruri blushed. But at that sincere and touching comment her cheeks became rather rosy. “Thankyou.” She murmured, touching he necklace briefly with a finger.
Hannah gave a wide grin to Thomas, tugging happily at his shirt. “Eeya!” She said with a firm nod of her head and then made grabby hands up at him. “Hug!”
Ruri laughed. “She loves hugs. I’ll go get a wet cloth for the messy beast.” Rising she disappeared away to the bathroom.

Thomas watched Ruri leave with something akin to desperation and then, when Hannah demanded another hug, he gave in to her and hugged her. That small body pressed against him made him feel very odd. An odd sort of feeling of regret rose up. "I'm sorry," he murmured into her hair. His other hand had come up to slowly stroke her hair. "I'm sorry," he muttered again.

It made Hannah even happier now that she was being hugged, and she could reach his hair. While she had the chance she grabbed a handful, giving a playful tug, and then mercifully let go. “Oo sorry?” She giggled and then rubbed her check against his chest, giving a little sigh. “Is kay.”
Ruri returned, stopping before she entered the room to watch the scene. It made her smile, almost a little sadly. It was so sweet and she wished she could see it more often. Thomas made a great father in her mind. Though she didn’t want to intrude, Ruri stepped forward anyway, crouching down beside them, cloth in her hand.
“See, she likes you.”

Thomas smiled at Hannah, not minding in the least. When she rubbed her cheek against him, he melted. That girl...his daughter... that was such a strange thing to admit. If only things were different. If only he could be better and a part of her family and-- but no... regrets wouldn't do.
"Can't imagine why," Thomas muttered when Ruri entered again, smiling just as sadly as she had done. One arm was still around Hannah, the other hand had come to rest on her back.

“Because you’re adorable.” Ruri cooed. “And she looks just like you.” Hannah lifted her head and smiled at her mum, which Ruri took advantage of by quickly giving the babies face a wash. Hannah squirmed and tugged away, apparently liking having her face covered in dry cookie dough.
“Now the hands. Come on.” She tickled Ai under her arm until the little girl gave in, lifting her hands to be cleaned. “There we go. Now you don’t look like a monster anymore!”
“Monstaaaar. Yaso, Yaso!”

Thomas got up to his feet then, still carrying Hannah. "Just like me, eh?" he peered closely at Hannah. "Yeah, guess you're right about that," he sighed regretfully. "Too bad, huh?" He stuck out his tongue at Ruri. "How about you and I go...hm... out or upstairs to have some fun?" he suggested, eyebrows wiggling a bit suggestively.
He put Hannah down and patted her head.
