Pregnancy RP: Three months until delivery

Six months along and all the normal signs were popping up. She knew the milestones probably better than most and was eagerly counting down each one. She'd long ago lost control of her own bladder and was eating so much food even Xe's mother would be amazed. She was also randomly falling asleep in the middle of everynight activities...she'd fallen asleep at the espresso machine last week at work and was still being teased unmercifully about it.

Xe was being protective but adorable with it, coming up behind her and constantly resting his hands on her tummy. He'd felt the babies kick probably about as many times as she...and the other downside to being an ecosystem for her bundles of joy had become apparent once they began to move. Throughout the night, she was moving around and the constant motion lulled them to sleep but when she settled to sleep, they were wide awake and ready to play. Resting a hand against her abdomen on the right side where the more active twin resided, she sighed. She wasn't going to be sleeping again the rest of that day.

Suddenly it struck; the almighty craving. She wanted chocolate, lots of it, blood, eggnog, and celery in any combination or form. It didn't matter that it was May and eggnog was nowhere to be found, she wanted it and she wanted it now. Reaching over, she shook her sleeping husband. "Xe, you have to get me eggnog and celery. Now."

He was pleasantly lost in his own little dreamworld of things that he normall dreamed about, and dreaming about expectations in his head, lips slightly parted and that cute little whistling sound form air passing between his fangs indicating that yes he was deep asleep and very much enjoying it. Though that all came to an end and he snorted slightly as his breathing pattern was disrupted and he opened his eyes, blinking bleary eyed at his wife as she aparently was wide awake again in the middle of th day. But his brain was always slow when he woke up unless there was an emergency at hand. Propping up he blinked again. "You want what?"

She sucked her teeth impatiently at him. It must be nice to be able to sleep all day long and not have to worry about it. But she was currently puffy with life and that meant her sleep was not quite as deep or as restorative or as predictable.

Pushing him back down, she nuzzled his neck, swiping her tongue over his sluggish pulse and then sinking her fangs in to allow his sweet blood to flow. If she satisfied part of the craving, it might make things a little better. And besides, this would wake him up and make herself happy as well, too. Indulging in his blood for a minute or two, she pulled back and closed the pinpricks with her tongue then dropped a kiss on his lips. "Eggnog and celery."

And that was unexpected...but very very enjoyable. Cue goofy grin as she indulged in that purely vampiric pleasure that their kind had that always worked out for the both of them. But it seemed that was going to be short lived and it was back to requesting things of him as he blinked at her again and tried to get himself back into gear from his head lightly already beginning to swim. Tease.

"Eggnog and celery." Now there was a combination she had yet to come up with. And it was nigh impossible to fulfil. Eggnog? Well...he did know how to cook, maybe he could just...make some. Celery was another matter...she didn't like it too much but he figured this was one of those craving things...and it was his job as nature dictated to go fetch. "Right."

Pressing a kiss to her check, he got himself up and meandered over to his dresser to pull out a pair of jeans and a loose shirt, pulling them on and slipping his sneakers on as he sat at the end of the bed. "Anything else you want or need while I'm out Cielo?"

Aw, his eyes were silvery and all. She was going to have to make up quite a bit to him once these babies were sleeping in the cribs down the hall and not her tummy anymore. She didn't know how to explain her sudden craving, especially since she absolutely hated eggnog and wasn't too fond of celery either.

Brushing her fingers through his hair as he pecked her cheek, she kicked the covers off and slid out of bed, resting a hand in the small of her back as she stretched. "Primer. We're painting the nursery tomorrow night and don't try to tell me you have an exam to grade because I checked your schedule and you gave one two weeks ago and don't have another one scheduled for at least a week and a half. Oh and the electric blue tape that painters use." Pausing a moment as she thought. "Let me check my list."

Heading downstairs, she pulled a sticky pad off the refrigerator and glanced over the few household items on it. Adding garbage bags and milk to the list, she met him in the hall, brushing his lips with her own. "This should do it. And hurry, Casanova. I really want that celery."

So...he was hitting the grocery store and the hardware store...in the middle of the day...apparently. But up to this point he'd indulged her and he wasn't about to stop now. He liked spoiling her after all. Taking a moment to pull brush his hair and pull it back, he grabbed the bottle of pills from the bathroom and downed two with a handful of water, before he headed down after her slowly. Almost ran her over in the hall a moment later before a kiss and a list shoved in his hand were his rewards. "Right hurry. I'll do my best." Giving a yawn and a smile, "Try to get some more sleep okay?" Thusly slipping on his shades and out into the blasted sun with him.

All in all, it took him a good hour to get places, get things and get back dragging himself inside and kicking his shoes off at the door "Sam! I'm back!" If she was asleep, well the good. If not she would come back down. Setting down primer and painter's tape near the stairs it was to the kitchen. Celery was pulled from it's bag and he took a moment to cut it into more managable pieces then into a bowl and into the fridge to keep it cold. Now then, on to making eggnog because he had no noice. Oh the things you did for love.

She had indeed fallen back asleep, sitting in the rocker they'd moved into the makeshit nursery a few months prior. At least until the need to once again go the bathroom had hit her and she'd waddled along and taken care of business. Right now, she was sitting on the corner of their bed, medical journals littering the bedroom around her and flipping frantically.

Adbominal ruptures...preemptive contractions...headaches and persisitent nausea...spotting...it was all there. Every possible complication that could occur during her pregnancy and she was finding something of herself in each of them. Hearing her husband's familiar voice, she jolted straight up, the books crashing to the floor with a loud thump. "XE!" At times like these, she really wishes she could move faster than a snow plow. Heading downstairs, she skidded to a stop in the kitchen, her face pale and worry dulling her eyes. "I'm...bleeding."

He had grabbed a glass of blood to see if it would help him shake of the weariness he was still feeling...a glass which was duly dropped and shatterd on the floor, splattering the thick crimson liquid all over the floor and the bottom of his jeans as well as she had screamed his name in that way he knew as distress. Slipping somewhat in blood in his haste, it gave her time to get down to the kitchen and he got his footing back, hopping over to her and taking her by the shoulders. Okay...she was already panicking which meant he wasn't allowed to and he had to be the rational one.

"Okay Sam, I need more than that. Bleeding doesn't cover things." Because bleeding could mean anything. Vampire thing, bad pregnancy thing, normal pregnancy thing...there were just a lot of things that it could mean and her being all panicking wasn't going to make any of it better.

She glanced down, her face paling even more if that was even possible. "You're bleeding, too?!" Yup, she was panicking. Trying to figure out just what he'd done to cut himself so badly, it never occurred to her to look past him and see the shattered glass sparkling on the floor. She saw the pool of blood and dropped her own hands on his shoulders. "Xe? What happened? Did you cut yourself?"

Blinking for a moment as he drew her attention back to what she'd come down here for. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself down but tears were blurring her vision. "I had to pee again and when I went to the bathroom, there was blood. Not a lot but it could easily turn into a lot and I've been having twinges in my stomach. What if my abdomen ruptures? Oh, I knew I should have gotten checked today. I should probably get an amnio too but it's so temperamental and dangerous. I don't want to put the kids at risk." Her attention drifted again and she shook her head, then grabbed the car keys. "We're going to the emergency room. Right now." Because even with vampiric healing, for him to be bleeding that much something was seriously wrong.

Panic never a good thing and it was surprising how fast she could move around when she was in panic mode. Grabbing her by the wrist he stopped her. "No wait Samantha, wait." Holding her by the shoulders to make sure he had her attention. "First off, I didn't cut myself...you screamed and I dropped a glass of blood...I may have stepped on a piece of glass but that's another story. Secondly...stop jumping to conclusions. Remember when you were in med school and you thought that you had a brain tumor because you were having headaches? But it just turned out to be you weren't eating enough and its was just from your calories being low? Now I want you to think for a moment...how much blood? How was it there?"

She whirled and stared at him, keys still poised in her hand. It didn't matter she was in a nightgown, robe, and slippers; if Xe needed the hospital, she was taking him. "You didn't? Oh..." Well, that was a relief. But that meant that someone needed to clean up the blood. Glancing at the kitchen floor, the sharp edges of the broken glass sparkled and she frowned then pulled away from him and walked over to the broom closet. "That was different. And you alternated between thinking you were schizo and borderline."

Starting the process of sweeping the glass up she chewed on her bottom lip. "Eight or nine dots. I'm not for sure because it looked like two had combined into one." Did he really want her to explain how it was there? "I went to the bathroom Xe..." He could draw his own conclusions. Thus sweeping the glass. She'd wipe up the blood but if she bent down, there was no getting back up.

"You work with crazies and you think your crazy. Besides, half the symptoms can apply to anyone and as students we do that self diagnosing thing." Frowning and walking back over to her, pulling her over to a chair and making her sit as he took the broom from her. Did no need to be cleaning, especially if she was bleeding and freaking out...though she had seemed to forget that part. "Don't you think then, if that's how it is, you're just self diagnosing? It just sounds like a little spotting to me."

Frowning, her butt hit the wood of the chair and she shook her head, "It could be...but it might not be." And then what was she going to do? Losing these babies would be a serious blow since it had taken so long and been such a trial to get them in the first place. Resting her hands on her abdomen, she felt the tears spill over and nodded. "I overreacted. I just don't want to lose them." Sniffling, she swiped at her cheeks knowing how much he hated to see her cry. These days it hardly mattered at all, her emotions were on a rollercoaster that was out of control.

"Okay then Sam, think of all the things that entail a misscarriage." It was a horrible word to say, but they had to delve into science here if they were going to make her feel better rather than jumping the gun. "I mean specifically, not slightly and not kind of. Exactly." Setting aside the broom against the wall and taking her face in his hands, tilting her head up to look at him lightly, brushing his thumbs over her cheeks. "Hey...come on now. You can't think the worst, you'll just stress yourself out and you know that's bad in and of itself. You know this subject better than anyone else."

"Bleeding, Xe. That's the problem. If there are other symptoms, they are different for every female and ART pregnancies are much more likely to abort than those by natural means. Even though ours was less ART than most, it still wasn't completely natural. Chewing on her lip, she shook her head. "Of those who are actually treated for bleeding during a pregnancy, half end up having a natural abortion." Another horrible word to say but she was involved in medical terminology now.

Forcing herself to calm down and think logically, she grasped his hands and held them tightly. "Nine dots is typically normal though if she were one of my patients, as old as I am, and it being an ART pregnancy, I'd probably put her on bedrest for a few days and monitor it closely. If there was no more spotting, then I'd allow her to continue as normal. Past the twenty week milestone, a natural abortion is far more psychological and can have disastrous effects on the mother. Her stress level could also have something to do with it..."
