Here are prompts for the Mundane Wanderer drawn by Teh Pandy and coloured by Mors the Meticulous. Choose one and fill it out. Within the next day or so, someone on the staff will read it. Checked back and look to see if your prompt has been approved.

One
He falls asleep. Only this dream is like no other. There's something different lurking just out of sight and he can feel it. He's drawn up or over or however-- into another world. How does he get there? Up stair? Over a lake? Through a magical glass or a wardrobe? And when he arrives in a place much like Earth, yet not, what is his reaction when he sees everything change as a strange Wind blows?

Two
It has come time to select your alignment. You have heard the strong words of the Travellers, the silky whispers of the Dissenters, and the gentle voices of those caught between, the Balancers or the Neutrals. Now it is your own turn to ally yourself. Who do you choose? Why? Is the decision difficult?

Have an idea for a prompt? post the form with the idea in place of the response and if it gets approved, you can write it out.

Please write your response as a typical third-person roleplay prompt response.

Character Name: JF Wells
Prompt Number: 2
Prompt Response:

JF Wells' mind was as far from his work as a mind could be. As he stood bagging groceries, he remembered the day his wife had died. Her body had destroyed itself quickly, from an aggressive cancer that had proved fatal just 6 months after its discovery. He fought back his rage at the cruel unfairness of nature, stealing life and joy from mankind at a whim. His thoughts were interrupted by an irritated voice. "For the third time, sir, I want paper bags, not plastic! I'm trying to be more eco-friendly this year!"

JF's mind snapped abruptly back to the present. He recognized the man before him as Terry Hubert, a regular customer. His bottled rage ignited by Terry's annoyance, JF lashed out. "Listen, Mr. TeREE HUGGER," he said, his voice full of quiet condescension, as his mind recalled his unwitting adversary's weaknesses. "You think that being eco-friendly makes you such a big man? Doing good things just to boost your big ego, to make up for your lack of height? You..." "That's ENOUGH!" a manager interrupted. "JF, you're fired."

His rage only heightened. JF stormed out of the store, and headed for his home. He stopped at the convenience store about a mile from his house and bought a cheap 6-pack, drinking 2 before carelessly tossing the rest into his back seat.

As he turned onto the long, currently-deserted road leading to home, a tree seemed to loom up out of nowhere, and as he swerved to avoid it, the car slammed diagonally into it; JF hit his head on the window and blacked out.

Opening his eyes, the black-haired man looked around. His vision cleared, but he wasn't in his car anymore. JF had no idea where he was; this definitely wasn't the road home. A wind seemed to come from everywhere, yet nowhere, and JF saw, for a split second, a grove of trees staring at him with eerie, blinking eyes. He blinked, and the eyes were gone. A sigh behind him startled the man. "Ah," a disappointed voice spoke, as JF whirled to face the stranger. 'We try to protect nature, yet our efforts at times seem almost in vain." "So, you're another lover of nature, hm?" JF said coolly, looking the old man straight in the eyes. "Do you know all of what you're protecting? Newsflash, old man. Nature is but an enemy to humans. It weakens and steals lives at will. You're on the wrong side, buddy." Leaving the old man, he continued onward down the street.

Another wind came up, and this time, a sigh of satisfaction accompanied it. A young woman in a white, ruffled tank top came around the corner, and JF thought he saw horns on her head, but just as quickly, they were gone. "Is she a demon?" he wondered, but listened when she spoke. "This is the kind of thing I like to see. The bending of the ways of nature. Now, if only there were a way to get more control..."

JF's eyes lit up for the first time in a long time. Here was someone who seemed to understand, to share his beliefs. "Hello," he said, trying not to sound incredulous. "I must say, I get where you're coming from on that."

The young woman smiled at him, her amber eyes shining intriguingly. "Perhaps you would like to join the Dissenters, then? That is one of the things we stand for."

Suddenly, before he could reply, the world vanished, and JF found himself in a hospital room. He sighed, wondering if it had all been a dream. It had felt so real, it couldn't have been, he thought. JF vowed to find his way back, for he knew what his answer would be.

Sorry... I just realised that you did this prompt incorrectly. I'm going to have to disqualify this entry. Did you change it? I could have sworn you had it differently before.
Uh...did you mean I forgot the header, because I moved it, forgot all about the header and put the story in without the header... sweatdrop
