This thread co-enacts with the Daily Quotes thread. Here you can discuss your opinions on the quotes that come in daily. There is one rule to this thread:

When you post your opinion on a certain quote, please mention the date of the quote, or quote the quote itself.

Thank you.

Now, let the discussion begin!

Nice one!

I'll do yesterdays since there was none. >>;

"The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it."
- Oscar Wilde
This is definitely discussion worthy, thank you Kazuma-puu.

Now I've been thinking on this for about 10-15 minutes...the whole point of temptation is not to give in in, correct? Otherwise you wouldn't consider it temptation. So I'm wondering how, by not fighting the urge, one would find "yielding" whatever it is they are tempted to do suitable. Does that mean they would give into it?

Hmm.... confused

Snu has a bit of a point there. But.. on with my own disection...

If it is indeed a temptation, then one wants it.. Like a untasted addiction... you want it don't need it but really want it, almost everytime you are near it. thats my def of temptation, agree, disagree, its the basis of my opinion and what else can i work on but my opinion?

Back to it. Thus the only way to get over it, would to taste it, be rid of the temptation part, let be "sin done" in words, find out "hey this wasn't that great" or "hey, this wasn't that bad i guess i should've given in earlier" or what ever in between.

Bam... Gone with temptation.

Bingo. PuppyVampire got it.

What that particular quote is saying is, the only way to get rid of temptation is to actually embrace it. Then it wouldn't be temptation, it would be something actually done.

Also, the quote is saying there is no way to get rid of temptation, that you have to live with the tempting and go on without it/with it.

Hope that clears things up. ^ ^

"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending."
-- Maria Robinson

This one peaked my interest. I think it represents change, and how we affect the people and things around us.

Simplified... It says, No one can go back in time and change what already happened, but everyone can make amends and change today to brighten the outcome. (If you wanna call that simple... XD)

But then it made me think more... it could also be taken as a quote for suicide.

When you think of it that way... it could be saying: No one can change what happened in the past, but anyone can give up on it now and end it all. So it could be saying that it's harder to live than to give up.

Anyone have any comments?
