I was doing some online reading (as usual) and came across one man's outrage towards what he believed to be God: Quote: In this 21st Century, the Age of Technology, we are still plagued by religious beliefs that may be a contributing cause of terrorism, killings and wars between nations. Belief in a God who causes catastrophes, punishes people and who created the universe out of nothing as if by magic, was brought about by hysteria and superstition. This thought process needs to be reassessed and brought up to date. Open-minded people must use common sense to determine whether this God was incorrectly perceived, misinterpreted and misunderstood by the masses of a bygone era. Now I personally do not believe in the Christian/Jewish/Buddhist/Muslim God, but for those of you who do, do you agree? I mean there is proof that belief in God has caused some chaos (Use 9/11 as an example if you must) but I would never blame Him for any of this. Is it not the individual's perception of who God is and what He tells us that makes a person kill or country declare war?

In my opinion lets look at this as God with an ant farm...He creates this place for us...he places us there...now all he does is sit and watch. God doesn't start wars, I believe.
In I am Legend, Robert Neville says "God didn't do this, We did." And let me tell you this, those who start the wars, arn't listening to anything God has said or laid out for us. Think about it...
If someone told you a "good advice" such as "Don't drink" you have the right to either listen or not...the consequences of drinking is Alcohol poisoning, possibly kill someone while drinking and driving, and or damage to your own brain, and body.
So think of God and war on the same levels as that. He tells you not to cause war with your neighbour, yet...somehow someone manages to stray away and boom, war. So the consequences of this is dead, distruction, and a horrible outlook on man (in the general sense).
I hope you all understand what I'm saying...

Um Zack...I dont think that was the question...It was more along the lines of "Due to our different beliefs in Religion and our own views on God, religious wars come about." Do you see what I mean? But I must agree with you 100% on you're little blurb.
It's because people don't have religious tollerance and these wars come about...Look back to Elizabeth the first...she had great religious tolerance but hey...one guy from Spain was like "Nono...she's going DOWN!" And then they had a war, Lizy won, and yeah, you see how it only just brings death?

* ahem *
Does God/Religion cause war? Maybe.
Does God/Religion create war? Not at all.
Religion is taken in many different ways, and I think it all was based from one teaching, but because humans have morals and essentially souls, interpretation differed. I think that God wanted peace, and didn't specify how to get it, therefore we as humans were to be tested to decide how to get to this peace. Thus, war started.
God doesn't create war, but can be the cause of war. Cause, as in, the influence.
...Off the subject kinda, when Robert Neville said what he did, he wasn't talking about warfare, he was talking about a man made disease. That's a completely different scenario.
