With the help of the Calder's Chloe had found the information needed for this mysterious doctor. It was enough to finally contact his office and make an appointment. The problem was, the only time available in the next few months was in an hour. She had taken the appointment, feeling that she had waited long enough for her time, but hadn't thought about the fact that Ryan was at work. Without a second thought she dialed his cell phone, sighing when he didn't answer. As she grabbed her coat and headed to the car she dialed another number, his lab. One of the assistants picked up, and moments later he took over, sounding short of breath. "What's wrong? Are you ok? You never call this number," he said, worried. She disregarded his questions but said simply, "It's an emergency, meet me in front of the Laurel hall in ten minutes."

She pulled up to the building a few minutes later, finding him already waiting on the curb. He looked as if he had run straight there from the lab, still wearing the bright green gloves and goggles. His labcoat was stained yellow, from pollen she guessed, but she noticed that he had kept to regulation, removing his boot slips to keep from spreading seeds. He climbed into the car clumsily, bashing his head on the dor. "What's wrong?" he demanded as she pulled out onto the street. She had hoped to be off campus before he blew a gasket, but from the looks of it that wasn't going to happen. "Well," she said softly, "I got us an appointment with Dr. Ronchas." He blinked, tugging his gloves off as he stared in disbelief, "And? You called me out of the lab to tell me that?" Chloe shook her head, trying to think of the best way to phrase it. "Well, no. It's um, now." He seemed to be getting angry and Chloe crinched. "And you just decided this without me?" he snapped, "You almost gave me a heart attack, I thought you were hurt." Chloe hung her head, wishing there had been another way to get him to come with her.

When they finally arrived he was silent, staring out the window with his arms crossed over his coat. She turned the engine off, biting her lip as she looked to him. "Do you want to go in?" she asked weakly, "If not it's okay, I can go by myself." He shook his head and resigned to seething, though he understood her reasons. He stalked along behind her, following her through the door. "Um, we have an appointment under Walden," Chloe said meekly to the first person she came across, hoping they weren't a patient.

It was a quiet day at the clinic. Only the Walden's rested in the loby. It made life easier for Selma who was again doing nothing. She didn't see why just because bussiness was doing well she should be expected to do any more work. The nurses and Dr. Ronchas were giving many shots to many lucky couples. Selma snorted, well they thought they were lucky. For a mere 30k they were getting miracles. Nothing came cheaply, in Selma's opinion, least of all miracles.

When the timid woman came up to her Selma glanced up. Could used a hair cut, she mused then shrugged. She rose her hand and shooed the woman and her angry shadow away. They would wait until the doctor and one of the nurses helped them. Technically there were two doctors though Selma only considered Ronchas a doctor at the double trouble clinic.

"The doctor will see you soon." Selma muttered, just to make sure they didn't leave. After all they carried part of her pay in their pockets and she wanted that gold. She liked her pay check...though Selma was thinking she needed a raise soon. She'd bug Ronchas. He'd want to keep her happy.

"Thank you," Ryan said as he put his hand on the middle of Chloe's back, directing her toward a row of seats along the wall. He was still a little upset with her, but now he was more put off by the receptionist's disenchanted response. "Don't worry angel," he told Chloe as he sat down beside her, showing an odd grin.

Chloe opened her mouth to protest that she was fine, but realized it wasn't worth the arguement. "Ok, if you say so," she agreed, lacing her fingers together over her laps. The room was nice enough, a little empty though. Oh well, maybe it was just a slow day.

The couples wait lasted for a little while. Ronchas was knee deep in another experment and didn't come out for a while. When the doctor did come out his shirt was splattered with some unreconiziable liquid that had a deep red color. It was possible it was blood but he was a doctor. They did get covered in blood.

"Selma! Selma!" Ronchas called out as he ran up to the secritary. He opened his mouth to exclaim some great discovery when she lifted up her hand and pointed directely to the couple. Ronchas blinked once, then twice before turning to see the want to be parents. "Oh! Patients, patients. It's a pleasure to meet you, pleasure to meet you." Ronchas walked over with his manic grin, holding out a dirty, stain and possibly stick hand for shaking.

Chloe started to get to her feet, but Ryan held her back. "The feeling is mutual," he said sternly, taking the hand. He had a nice firm grip, that was reassuring. A little sticky though. "So mind if I ask um, what exactly you were doing?" he asked, wiping the red off on his already stained labcoat.

Chloe got up behind him, laughing quietly into her hand. It would serve Ryan right if it was some sort of baby goo, he was always so stuffy when they met someone. Besides, it would be an interesting story to tell their kids. "I'm Chloe, this is Ryan," she said cheerily, moving to her husband's side.

Ronchas shook firmly, oddly firm and direct for the manic grin he had. He looked over them happily. More couples, more couples. They seemed like a nice loving pair. Ronchas wondered vaugly why they needed him but he didn't care. Maybe they were impatient. Oh well, so long as they took the serum Ronchas didn't care the rhyme nor reason behind this visit.

"Doing?" Ronchas asked, blinking once as if he had no idea what he was talking about. "Come, come, we have things to do!" he called out quickly. It was impossible tot ell if he was just badly changing the subject or if he honestly forgot the conversation. "Things to do. Paperwork please, paper work. Follow me, follow me." he urged, turning to his office. He had some clean clothes there too.

Ryan hesistated, turning a skeptical eye toward Chloe. Under his breath his whispered, "You really want to trust our children to this guy?" His question was overlooked as Chloe grabbed his arm and hurried after the odd little doctor, happily oblivious to whatever Ryan thought was weird. "We brought all our insurance information," she chirped happily, "I wasn't sure if you would need and imprint of it for liability."

Ronchas blinked. He never asked for insurence before. He didn't care if they had insurence or not. As long as he got the 30k and they got the shot. Besides insurence meant going though the goverment and all of that nasty trackable things. He prefered to go under the wire if he could.

"Uhhhh, we don't normally work with insurence companies. Our clients normally don't have insurence and we don't wish to allient our coustmers. If you lack the proper funds we can work a payment plan if you prefer, if you prefer. Weekly payments and such. No interest, no extra charge, none at all, I only wish to give happy couples the children they desire and my small fee too pay for my clinic, pay for my clinic." Ronchas lied easily, smiling brightly at the couple as he escorted them inside his office.

He went to the sink to wash his hand once inside, then easily pulled off his shirt to revel the kind of flabby pale chest of a true nerd. He then opened a drawer where he pulled out a fresh shirt and pulled it over his head before stashing the dirty shirt away.

"Now I just have some paperwork for you to fill out, just need you to fill it out." Ronchas urged with a grin, handing it to the couple.

Ryan seemed to gain a little faith, then lose it again almost as quickly. "We've got the money," he assured Ronchas, "It's just that most of our doctors before this have wanted the information in case something went wrong." He took the paperwork when it was offered and began to fill things out, nudging Chloe to continue her usual banter.

Chloe had been a little worried when Ronchas mentioned the situation, and for a moment she wondered how legitimate it was. Then again he seemed so sincere, and if Samantha thought he was good then there must be some merit. "We've been trying for years," she told him, watching him eagerly from her seat, "Twins would mean so much to us."

"Nothing will go wrong, nothing at all." Ronchas swore, "And I don't like to make people have to have anything to come here, not at all. All I require is the want to love." Ronchas giggled at himself. It was mushy but people fell for it, every time they fell for it. They wanted to believe the miracle. They wanted that happiness.

"Then I am glad to give them to you. Glad to give." Ronchas said happily, grabbing his dirty shirt and heading to the door. "I will be right back you two, be right back. Just need to get the shot. Then you can ask me any questions you might have, any questions."

As a scientist, Ryan was skeptical. There was always a percentage error, no matter how good you were. He wrung his hands on his knees, watching Chloe curiously. It would be interesting how she reacted to all of this, seeing the way she had been so excited and then suddenly restless.

Chloe seemed oblivious to Ryan's eye, bouncing her legs as she stared around the room. The various posters were all concerning newspapers and scientific journals, and something seemed encouraging to her. He may have been a little scatterbrained, but he was for real, surely, otherwhise those babies in Samantha's stomach wouldn't exist.

Ronchas returned soon enough. He didn't have the dirty shirt anymore instead he was carrying a syringe, full of a dark liquid. He smiled brighlty at the couple before setting it down as he grabed some disinfectients. He rubbed the needle, then dabbed some on a cloth.

"I'm just going to clean off part of your arm for the needle, just for the needle." Ronchas asured her with too would be a calming smile. To her it was most likely jsut plain creepy. He did do what he said to her. Cleaned a portion of her arm for the needle before grabing the syringe, holding it up against her arm. With a well practiced move he plunge it deep into her blood stream. His grin turned manic as he emptied the syringe and then pulled the needle out, easily cleaning the wound again then bandaging it up.

"Well all done expect the payment and the questions. Do you have any?" ronchas asked them.

Chloe cringed as the needle went in, but she had been given so many of them that it didn't really hurt her anymore. "Ryan?" she asked, gesturing to him. He was the one that handled all the money, and she didn't have any questions so long as she would finally be able to have a baby. And two, pushing the issue would be bad luck.

Ryan nodded, reaching for his wife's purse. "Just one, do you prefer gold or check?" he asked, seeing that Chloe had hastily prepared both in case she got him to go along with it.

"Gold is easiest. Just give it to Selma in the front, in the front. And remember. If this fertilization period passes without a DNA exchange the syrum will be useless, will be useless. You'll need to come in and pay the fee again." Ronchas encouraged, smiling a some how sexless smile.

Ryan nodded, but made no comment on the warning. That was a little crude in his mind, but it wasn't worth debating. He wanted to get out of this place as soon as possible, the doctor was a little off, but perhaps it was just the day. "It was nice to meet you Doctor," he said solemnly, taking Chloe by the wrist.

She followed him loyaly, offering a smile to Ronchas on her way out. When they got back to the lobby she kissed Ryan on the cheek, taking the keys as she went out the door. She was tense, and wanted to make sure this would work. Ryan paused at the reception desk, waiting this time for Selma to acknowledge him before he spoke.
