This has helped me muscle through many illnesses. It's not very good tasting, and I didn't quite know what category to put it under, but I felt like it might be a good thing to share for the coming winter months.
3-6 cups chicken stock, preferably from scratch 3 cloves garlic, minced or crushed 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (A little more, if you are really congested.) 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1/8 teaspoon rosemary 3 whole cloves
Put the broth on the stove with low heat, then stir in the garlic. If you have a garlic press, crushed garlic is better; chopped garlic loses its potency much more rapidly than the former. Next add rosemary, ginger, and pepper. Again, fresh is always better, but if you must, make do with what you have. Stir well and simmer for fifteen more minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, wait a few minutes, and empty the mixture into a thermos. I'd recommend sipping this slowly over long periods of time, meanwhile drinking warm mint tea with lemon slices and honey. Take your medication! This won't cure you, obviously, but all of the contents have excellent anti-congestant properties and will help to alleviate the symptoms. Just remember to stay away from drinking/eating cold things when you've got a cough or the snuffles. <3
*for a thicker broth, add a teaspoon or two of cornstarch and stir. :3

MeaShayShay This seems like a pretty good recipe. Is it a really bad taste? eek No, it's not bad with the salt. It's just like spicy chicken broth, basically. 3nodding
