Since staph infection has been spreading around like crazy. So be careful. I just got staph infection from my latest tattoo
Really sucks. the people at the place tried to play it off like it was a bunch of ingrown hairs. Thank goodness I went to the doctor. If I didn't get it checked out soon enough, It could have been fatal. REALLY scary experience for me.
Just wanted to share @_@

a small amount of staph just naturally lives on your skin. Usually when people get an infection of staph on their tattoo, its from wearing dirty clothes/bed sheets (where staph has built up), not cleaning their tattoo, or just plain unluckyness.
SO to everyone!
Wash your tattoo daily, keep your sheets clean, and wear clean clothes over your tattoo! easy! XD
Hydrocortizone cream will take care of it if it happens, no need for doctor visits 3nodding

well, yeah, if its way seriously out of hand. but hydrocortizone cream does cure the minor ones that people get with tattoos.
And I'm medically trained, so, thanks.

Where I live, there has been a nasty outbreak of MRSA, which is an antibiotic resistant form of staph that can be fatal if not treated properly. It is much easier to contract than normal staph, and much much more serious of an infection. I don't disagree with Brynn about the hydrocortizone, but I operate under the belief that most people are too stupid for their own good, so I never EVER suggest to my clients that they attempt to self-medicate any infection in their tattoo. My advice has and will always be -- if it's infected, go to the doctor and TAKE ALL THE ANITBIOTICS THEY GIVE YOU. That's the other really good way to get MRSA, is to not take the full course of antibiotics, or to drink while on them. If you don't take the meds properly, then all you're doing is killing off the weak bacteria, and leaving the strongest forms to multiply and reinfect the area.
