I wanna see this one so bad! I can't wait until it comes out to the US whee

Mimi wo Sumaseba (Whisper of the Heart) centers on Shizuku Tsukushima, a 14 year old growing up in the suburbs of modern Toyko. She is bookworm who wants to write when she grows up. Over her summer break she discovers that all the library books she has been reading have been checked out before her by someone named Seiji AMASAWA. Through a series of semi-magical accidents, she meets Seiji and finds out he is another student at her junior high. He wants to be a violin maker and is going to try for an apprenticeship in Italy. Struck by the example of someone working so hard to fullfil his dream, Shizuku sets herself a challenge to write a real story. This will prove to herself and the rest that she can achieve her dreams of being a writer. We only see a little bit of the story she writes, while the movie focuses on the typical adolescent struggles to prove that one has some talent or ability that make one a worthwhile or lovable person.

Is it too innocent and lovey dovey, not enough action?

I think this is the kind of film that depends a lot on people's tastes. LHL probably prefer active and fast moving stuff, while Mimi wa Sumaseba seems to have a slow pace.

That's true...there's not really any fantasy in this one (I think the other one that has no fantasy may be Tonari no Yamada-kun, and to tell you the truth I both heard and think that may be the worst Ghibli film. Then again I just judged by art and it really isn't good to judge a book by it's cover neutral

My friend mentioned that movie to me and ever since then, I've been waiting patiently (not really...) for it to be released. sweatdrop I want to see it so bad! It sounds incredibly cute. I think it even has the potentional to replace Laputa as my number one Miyazaki film! xd

I'm sure a lot of the guys in this guild aren't that excited about it (but then I'm stereotyping rolleyes ). Kei and I were the only ones who really posted in here and haven't watched it yet though.

I guess it's a pretty good movie..it's rather slow and *kind* of boring at times but I got through it. I loved the scene where Seiji played his violin and the old folks joined in, twas awesome 3nodding Sadly, it's the only highlight of the movie in my opinion...(I've got the japaense version with english subtitles)

I actually like this movie very much! Everything is so nice and it is about achieving your dreams! except the ending, the ending was quite abrupt to me...but no spoilers ^^' so i can't talk about it

@___@ I have to say this this movie is number one on my list. Just the fact that it was more calm and peaceful then the everyday movie.
And something like that chould maybe happen? MAYBE. sweatdrop
besides that has anyone read the manga? One of the manga, the movie was based on that one but the other one was The Cat Returns.
The Cat Return i'm not a 100% sure about that one because I have got that one yet. ^^;;

I would say it is but it isn't at the same time. Because this movie has nothing to do with the cat returns other then the cat doll and the fat cat. (moon etc.)
