Derris is known as the 'Walled City' because both the front and back are lined with two massive walls, and then there are walls inside of the walls. Three walls total. In times of war, the first wall has been breached, the second has come close to that, but the third wall has never even been touched. It is rumored that should the third wall fall, the city would be lost to whatever army is invading it. The men are trained, and powerful. The wizards are rumored to be among the best of the world. However, the people are friendly, and the prices are rather low. However, an invasion starting from the insdie won't work: A thorough background check is made upon anyone they don't recognize, even the merchants. Goods are looked through, making sure nothing in it is dangerous. They even check inside of food. It is part of the reason they have never been defeated in combat.
