A looooooong time ago, my friend and I were joking about our world's pantheon, and decided, "If we really wanted to ******** things up, Zarr would be the Supreme God."

That lived on for awhile -- whenever something screwed up happened, we'd go, "Well, Zarr IS god, after all!"

His character seems to have molded himself along those lines. xD He has access to our "canon" god (just randomly went to intercede on his cousin's behalf), and can apparently "just do things". Not in a god-mod, "I KILL YOU--" *Person drops dead* kind of way, but in more of a "previously undiscovered talents have a tendency of just popping up" way. Minor talents, though. Nothing overpowered in any way. xd

He's also matured, sort of. He's still moodswingy as ever, just not as extreme -- he doesn't go from *flounces around in a Playboy bunny outfit* to *slitwrists* at the drop of a hat anymore.

...so I was thinking of a possible solution to take all this into account. Be forewarned, it's not very "wow!creative" or anything, but...we'll see how it's received. sweatdrop

Basically, at the beginning of the world, there were gods, many-many-many, most minor, and my friends' god-characters (the God and Satan figures -- our pantheon and world are sort of a chaotic mashup of all of our stories XD). There was Zarr, a sort of in-between, "wildcard" god.

You know, the kind who was quite a bit self-absorbed, and you'd never know if you'd catch him in a benevolent mood, or a, "YOU ALL GO TO HELL *SOBSOB*" mood.

Basically, it was decided that since the God and Satan positions were already filled, there was already a balance and the world would be MUCH better off without a Wildcard ******** up the mix. xd So they decided to get rid of Zarr.

As you can't totally kill a god, however (unoriginality coming up! biggrin ), Zarr was split into God-Part and Physical-Part (all of them have bodies of a sort), and Physical-Part is what all the characters thus far have been interacting with -- moodswingy and whiny, apparently the only character in our world who's capable of reincarnation (Physical-Part has to stay intact, lest it reform with God-Part XD).

God-Part can no longer affect anything. At all. He's useless.

Physical-Part is pretty much in the "gifted" region, in terms of magical talent for our world. But by gifted, it's still normal range -- think kid with 3.8 GPA -- impressive, but not REALLYSUPAROMGWOW.

...in the end, chances are that neither part will EVER meet, much less reform, so this really means nothing for Zarr, other than to explain his random, "I HAS A TALENT" moments, personal magic, and why-in-the-bleeding-hells he's the only one who ever reincarnates. Also gives a little background to him.

And means there's another chunk of Zarr out there if we ever get bored and decide to explore Possible Story Branches. rofl

I'm looking to develop this further, if anyone sees holes, is left with a question, or sees ways I can improve it. biggrin I'm especially looking to talk it out with someone, as I find I do better development that way. whee

So far, so good. I mean, it does explain a lot about him. The originality usually isn't found in the backstory anyhow, but how the character interacts with everybody else, after all.

I wouldn't mind talking it out with you, just so long as it doesn't mean I have to ask questions, because I have none. ;.; I like the idea, though. Really explains quite a bit!

Does Zarr know that he's part of a god? (Or have I missed the answer to this question?)

Ooare

He doesn't know, and he kind of takes everything he does (the sudden talents, I mean) for granted -- he assumes that he must have ALWAYS been able to do those things, and just never noticed or forgot. His current incarnation is old-old-old, after all, so he doesn't give much attention to things like that...you pick up a lot of things when you've lived that long. XD

And he's naturally totally oblivious to the reincarnation thing.

I'm considering a subplot where two other characters forcibly introduce him to his other self -- non-canon story diversion xD -- and he's not going to like it at all. He'll probably think it's an elaborate prank. xd

Random addition: Since Yukio gets to play with razors, Zarr should get to run with scissor-hand gloves. Just like Freddy! Except without the burn scars, natch.

Okay, think I figured it out, now...after some cross-plotline mashing. xD

Initially, I had angels create the world...generally out of boredom. So having a "god" didn't really fit in. But I think I worked that out. ninja

After creating the world, the angels thought to create a being whose only purpose was to govern it -- keep it running well. However, in creating a "perfect" being to keep things under control, the angels were admitting themselves as being "imperfect" by essentially saying they couldn't run things themselves.

And things that are imperfect can't make things that are perfect, so that's how we got Mr. Loose Cannon the God.

So they broke him to prevent further mishap. xd
