Please post your 'lspci' and Xorg.conf.

to get your lspci:
$ sudo su
Enter your password
# /sbin/lspci > lspci.log

Open lspci.log in a text editor (gedit) and paste it into a post.

The Xorg.conf file is at /etc/X11/xorg.conf

A few links of interest:

OpenSuSE 10.3 Release Notes - Older Intel Graphics Chips

You will want to view this site in more detail. According to it, it should be supported. As I have a 945GM chip in my laptop, this was useful in tweaking xorg.conf.

Did you preform a fresh install or did you just upgrade? The problem is more than likely a bad driver that you were using.

Odd, well considering that my desktop has a 945G Intel card that works out of the box so I really can't help you out

My hardware is just old i've got a lot of ram (1.25 GB) but my motherboard is old (and doesn't even have a agp or pci-E slot) my CPU is some what fast, but the cache is beyond suckey (Celeron 2.55 GHZ cache L2 256 KB)

Ouch, mine is not as to much better than you Celeron D 3.33 GHZ don't know the Cache off the top of my head but I know it also using L2 (I want a system that uses L3 cache, so much faster from what I hear). It has a PCI-E but I don't use it. Now my main system is my lappy with has a AMD Turion 64 x2 1.8 GHZ (per core) also don't remember the cache, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100.

You will now, Nvidia is planning on dropping Linux support because they are tried of people demanding they open up their driver source and Kernel devs sicking lawyers on their a** over it.

On the other hand ATI is making open source drivers for their newer cards and suppose to be making a better Proprietary driver for the older ones.

Intel is still all open source, but no cards yet just crappy chipsets xd
