And there was nothing in sight but grass and the retreating back of a flighty brindled Jala. Ignatius gave a disgusted snort and shook his scaled head, his feral amber eyes narrowed at the girl's retreating form. Wasn't even as if he'd jumped out and said 'boo' or something. He hated winter, hated how it drove him to the kindly lands of D'ob with its abundant grass and its lack of flesh to feast on. Oh and the people, always with the people.
It wasn't fair to blame them, the freakish stallion considered as he regarded the green carpet under his hooves, to blame them for their fear. Still, life wasn't fair, now was it? He could blame them if he damn well pleased. Bloody idiots, all of them; the ones who weren't afraid were sometimes the worst and that was more annoying still. True, they included the best too, but by and large those who didn't show at least a smidgen of apprehension of his appearance at first usually turned out to be bloody stupid.
Sighing to himself, the horn-tailed Reya lowered his head to the ground and nipped off a few stems of grass. He hated winter.

A green and black Bae walked near his father. He loved winter but the cold he hated. His family loved snow.At least he thought.
Vartan watching his son he ate some snow.

As the feathered girl finally vanished from view, more movement caught at the Reya's attention and he spun to face it with a snort; if she had brash idiotic male friends... Fortunately however, before he'd gone so far as to challenge, he realized that it was not an angry group of Jala hot-heads, just a pair of Bae; hardly what one could call a threat. They didn't seem to have noticed him yet. The brown-scaled stallion gave another snort, an amused one this time, and waited patiently for the delicate-winged pair to spot him.

Ignatius was bored, and the green-maned Bae's lack of reaction to his oddness was intriguing and so he took a few paces closer to the pair, swinging his vicious tail back forth lazily. "Leaving so soon?" he asked with a soft chuckle at the set of the red's ears. "We haven't even been introduced yet." It might be fun to tease the pair for a while, and he certainly wanted to know why greenie hadn't reacted to his scales and spines. Besides, whatever the outcome of the encounter it would be more fun than eating grass.

The tall stallion looked the black-socated Bae down and further down, brows somewhat raised at the little thing's attitude. Remarkably stupid, or remarkably brave and remarkably stupid? "Name's Ignatius," he said with a nod, turning his fierce eyes from Xavier to Vartan. "Going to say hello, or are you just going to cower there?" he asked, displaying his sharp teeth to their best advantage.

"Hello...."Vartan said.He nippled back at his son."Are you going to torment us?"

Ignatius frowned and scratched at an itch on his flank with the sharp spike on the end of his tail. "Haven't really decided yet," he told the red, tilting his head on one side to inspect the pair from a different angle. Really they seemed like quite the dull pair; he doubted making them squeal would bring him any joy, it seldom did unless his victim had been taunting him first.
"Don't think so," he decided after a moment, snorting out a semi-amused breath. "You part of a herd here or what?" it occurred to him to add; if they were part of a group it might not take kindly to his presence. Even though there were some exceptions to the rule that Nequus hated and feared him, the majority would want him gone and most leaders listened to the majority if they wanted to remain leaders. A few little Bae he could take on without any trouble. Lots of the little idiots however could turn out to be a problem.

Ignatius scowled at the little Bae and took a pace backwards; he wasn't used to people coming near him and he wasn't sure he liked it. "No reason," he told the red with a shrug, eyeing the black with some bemusement. Let them make of his answer what they would; perhaps the skitty red would take it to mean that he was looking for vulnerable Nequus to attack. Still, if he was that paranoid he probably wouldn't have admitted that their herd was far away. Well, unless he was stupid as well as cowardly.
"What do you want?" the horn-tailed stallion added to Xavier as an afterthought. "Interesting specimen worthy of closer study am I?" The urge to lash out and bite the stupid little thing on the nose was almost irresistible. Almost. He at least wanted an answer to his question before he sent the black and his daddy packing.

Ignatius snorted and spread his wings out for inspection. “Well take a good look then,” he told the black-coated boy, “because this is the only form of it’s kind you’re ever likely to see. These scales, theses spines, this tail; remember them and remember me. One of a kind, boy, one of a kind.” Sometimes he loved that fact, other times he hated it. It was good to be special, to be the only Reya he’d ever seen who looked as he did. Other times... other times he longed for many soft tails, for hail on his body and a mane on his neck. Still, what was, was and like it or no it was his to live with.

Ignatius flapped his wings a couple of times before settling them back against his flank. "To the best of my knowledge, yes," he said with a sharp grin; they actually seemed impressed, this was a nice change. Perhaps he wouldn’t chase them about after all, he could chase any idiot he wanted to chase but awe was a rare thing indeed. Once they got over the initial shock ,most Nequus who didn’t run thought him ugly or freakish. It was definitely good to meet people who agreed that he was awesome.
“Tell me,” the fierce-eyed Reya said after a moment or two at a protesting feeling from his belly, “is there anything but grass to eat hereabouts?” In many places almost nothing would grow well in winter but here in mild-weathered D’ob it might well be a different story. He could hope, certainly.
